In Cleveland today, Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan devoted an entire speech to a topic President Obama has largely avoided in this campaign: poverty. While the GOP team has routinely discussed the plight of the nation’s poor, references to poverty have been largely absent from Obama’s speeches.
