Economic trouble puzzles Fed chief, too
Great - the "Experts" are stumped.....SWELL.....
The economy's continuing struggles aren't just confounding ordinary Americans. They've also stumped the head of the Federal Reserve.
Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke told reporters Wednesday that the central bank had been caught off guard by recent signs of deterioration in the economy. And he said the troubles could continue into next year."

Obama releasing 30M barrels from US oil reserves - Yahoo! Finance
I don't think Obama's Poll Numbers count as a national Emergency!
Wary of a new surge in gas prices, the Obama administration has decided to release 30 million barrels of oil from the country's emergency reserve as part of a broader international response to lost oil supplies caused by turmoil in the Middle East and North Africa, particularly Libya.
The release from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve will amount to half of a 60 million barrel international infusion of oil planned for the world market over the next month."

Obama's Choice: A Partial Exit, With Reelection in Mind - Thursday, June 23, 2011
Don't kid yourself. President Obama’s decision to withdraw 33,000 troops from Afghanistan before he stands for reelection is not driven by the United States’ “position of strength” in the war zone as much as it is by grim economic and political realities at home."
Godfather's Pizza | Iowa | Herman Cain | The Daily Caller
You may not have tried a slice of Herman Cain’s pizza — but the folks in Iowa likely have.
There are 116 Godfather’s Pizza locations in the Hawkeye State, according to the company’s website. That’s far more than most early presidential primary and caucus states.
The state’s familiarity with the pizza chain is something Cain, the former CEO of the company turned Republican presidential candidate, might actually be able to use to his advantage as he makes a play in the first caucus state next year."

How the stimulus robbed states of their sovereignty | The Daily Caller
Wasn't that always the "Plan"? The White House is beginning to look like the Death Star being built in the last episode of Star Wars....consolidating it's power......
Obama’s so-called “stimulus bill” did not do much good for our economy. On the contrary, numbers provided by recovery.gov show that whatever jobs the bill “created” have come at astronomical costs. One very telling example: as of the first quarter of 2011, each “stimulus” job in Wyoming had cost taxpayers $477,000."

Ya know - god forbid - if Mitt Romney is the GOP nominee ( Lordie...it even hurts to type that! ) then he and Obama don't even have to debate each other....they both can just debate themselves since the BOTH take both sides of damn near every issue. ANYONE out there with a set????? ANYONE??
Over the past several weeks, President Barack Obama has taken fire from both sides over the presence of the U.S. military in Afghanistan. And on Wednesday night, he faced the American people in a short address and made clear his plans to draw down the U.S. presence in the central Asian nation."

No! You are just KIDDING me right???? The Obama folks were involved with everything GM.....Obama Motors Part 20....
New emails obtained by The Daily Caller contradict claims by the Obama administration that the Treasury Department would avoid “intervening in the day-to-day management” of General Motors post-auto bailout.
These messages reveal that Treasury officials were involved in decision-making that led to more than 20,000 non-union workers losing their pensions."

Our Wiley Coyote Moment Has Arrived
The country is imploding under the weight of fourteen trillion dollars of debt, sixty trillion dollars of unfunded entitlement programs, and a monetary policy bent on destroying the currency and economy. Government intervention in private citizens' lives and the economy has failed. The eighty year old Keynesian economics experiment that started under President Roosevelt is nearing an end.
The current state of economic affairs reminds me of the Saturday morning cartoon where the Roadrunner is chased by Wiley Coyote. The clever Roadrunner leads Wiley to the edge of the cliff, maneuvers quickly to safety, and Wiley runs off the edge of the cliff. Wiley remains suspended momentarily in mid-air before realizing his fate and plummets to the canyon floor."

Atlas Is Shrugging In The US And Flexing His Muscles Elsewhere
Ayn Rand was mostly correct when she wrote her magnum opus 'Atlas Shrugged.' She was incorrect in one important area. She assumed the final option for the wealthy and entrepreneurial class was to go on 'strike' and retire to Galt's Gulch. In the modern world the movers and shakers don't strike, they migrate."
Empty Sophistry, when directed at the War in Afghanistan, is still Empty Sophistry | RedState
Shortly after taking office in 2009, President Obama declared that a new strategy was forthcoming for the Afghan war. Over six months later, after weeks and weeks and weeks of “thoughtful deliberation” (and a few dozen rounds of golf), Obama used an awkward 45-minute appearance at West Point to boldly announce…that he was going to implement what amounted to the same strategy that President Bush and Secretary of Defense Gates had prepared just before the January 20, 2009 change of command. Bold and cutting-edge, that."
*Sigh* Reports of Tour Demise Are Greatly Exaggerated | Facebook
Imagine our surprise when reading media reports today that the “One Nation Tour” has been cancelled. Why didn’t anyone tell me? Oh, wait, that’s because it hasn’t been cancelled. (Good ol' media... you never cease to amaze!)
As I said myself at the end of the east coast leg of the tour, the summer is long, and I’m looking forward to hitting the open road again. The coming weeks are tight because civic duty calls (like most everyone else, even former governors get called up for jury duty) and I look forward to doing my part just like every other Alaskan."

Definition of Insanity: Senate Dems Want New Stimulus Spending in Deficit Reduction Plan
Usually it takes until around 7:00 AM for my head to totally explode....new record...5:56 AM....

Jon Huntsman: McCain on Wheels
All I have to see is that the Main Stream media "likes" Huntsman....that's enough to make me run in the other direction! I like his Dad....but even at that - they gave Harry Reid's campaign a fortune. I get it - all politics is local...however....Harry Reid???? Run, Forrest RUN!
My syndicated column today dissects the media-manufactured candidacy of Jon Huntsman. While liberal reporters swoon, New Hampshire voters gave him thumbs down as he tried to gin up support yesterday. Here’s his pathetic explanation for calling Obama a “remarkable” leader. And via Allahpundit, check out the insipid, condescending Huntsman ad touting his “good,” “calm” demeanor. Glenn Beck and His Bashers | FrontPage Magazine
I actually wish I could go. And I'm not sure why....just as I wasn't sure why I had to g to 8/28. But I had to. My 10 year old granddaughter who attended 8/28 with me asked if we could go to Jerusalem....though she did admit she's rather go to Wasilla, Alaska to say Hi! to her absolute Hero, Sarah Palin and her family...but in her eyes - Jerusalem was a close 2nd. She doesn't know why. However she figures if Glenn is doing it...we should go.
Besides the fact I run a small business on life support and barely have enough cash to go see Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows Part 2....I cannot explain the pull of Glenn. But it's there. I wish I could afford it...
My brother, who originally got me into Glenn years ago, has signed off saying "He's gotten too preachy"....
I, who out of our family of semi-lapsed Catholics am probably the furthest from the Church find Glenn's faith interesting when he sort of preaches from the mount, as it were. And I don't know why.
However, one thing I am seeing...Glenn has been right....almost a scary 100% right about all the things he's warned us about. Even if you think he's nuts....he's still right.
I try and devour the books he recommends....I try to warn those who do read our blog that "something" is coming. There is an odd small disquiet in the air. Something I can't explain...but I feel it everyday.
I just hope I'm strong enough to Stand with Courage when the time comes...I hope we all are.
When Glenn Beck’s upcoming Jerusalem rally was first announced last month, he said it would be called “Restore Courage”—modeled on his “Restoring Honor” rally last year in Washington that drew half a million. Or as Beck put it: “Last summer, we set out to restore honor in Washington, DC. This summer, it’s time to restore courage. It is time for us to courageously stand with Israel.”
A month later the Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot added more details. “Tens of thousands of excited Israelis and Americans,” the paper claimed,"

The flotilla is coming, the flotilla is coming.
European and North American activists, journalists, and mercenaries have set sail—or are about to do so—on fifteen boats with passengers from twenty-two mainly Western countries to “break the Israeli blockade of Gaza.” Spurred on by the anti-Potemkin Village images of Palestinian Arabs living in wretched refugee hovels, fenced in by an allegedly “apartheid” Israeli wall, oppressed by “Nazi” Israeli soldiers for “racist” reasons (and not because the Palestinian leadership practices both Islamic gender and religious apartheid as well as terrorism)–the Good People are sailing to the rescue."

White House Insists Campaign Against Children's Cereal Is Voluntary - HUMAN EVENTS

Christie Wins on Pension, Health Benefits Reform - HUMAN EVENTS
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie won another major victory for his agenda last week, announcing a deal with the Democratic leadership of the legislature on a sweeping reform of public employee pensions and benefits. The deal, which was passed by the state senate on Monday and awaits a vote in the assembly, raises public employees’ pension contributions, mandates that the state make annual payments into the system, increases public employee contributions toward health insurance premiums, and ends collective bargaining for heath benefits. Should the bill eventually become law, it is projected to save the state $120 billion over 30 years."
CBO Releases Daunting Long-Term Outlook - Wednesday, June 22, 2011

MD Schools Will Now Require ‘Environmental Literacy’ to Graduate High School | Breaking news and opinion on The Blaze
Excuse me while my head EXPLODES!!!!!!!!!!!
A state board of education in Maryland has bought into the green agenda. So much so that it just voted to require “environmental literacy” in order to graduate high school.
“This is a defining moment for education in Maryland,” Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley said. “By approving this environmental graduation requirement, the Board of Education is ensuring that our young people graduate with a keen understanding of and connection to the natural world. Only through exposure to nature and education about our fragile ecosystem can we create the next generation of stewards. ”"

As a boy growing up just outside of Richmond, VA, I used to know a few very sad and sorry human beings. Kerry Exposed on Syria | FrontPage Magazine
In his recent letter to the editor of the Wall Street Journal,[1] Senator Kerry took to task Professor Fuad Ajami for his assertions in an earlier WSJ essay.[2] Ajami summarized four decades of the Assad regime’s tyranny, oppression and mass murder of its own people, and criticized America’s failed policy toward Syria: a policy consisting of nothing more than a “waiting for Godot” stance, while quietly urging young Bashar to mend his ways as he, his father’s true son, slaughters his own people and sends terrorists into Iraq to murder Americans."
The Missing Entitlement Money - Thomas Sowell - National Review Online
One of my earliest memories of revulsion against war came from seeing a photograph from the First World War when I was a teenager. It was nothing gory. Perhaps the environmentalists of the Corps grew tired of waiting decades to realize their dream of a 'restored Missouri River.' Perhaps these elements heard the warnings and saw in them an opportunity to force an immediate re-naturalization of the river via epic flood. At present, that is impossible to know, but to needlessly imperil the property, businesses, and lives of millions of people constitutes criminal negligence. Given the statements of Corps personnel, and the clear evidence of their mismanagement, the possibility that there is specific intent behind their failure to act must be investigated without delay."

Liberate ATMs & Jumpstart Jobs!
But actually it wouldn’t be so bad if politicians merely treated the American economy like an ATM, even if they made fairly large withdraws. What’s really killing jobs is the red tape that causes a massive slowdown by jamming the gears of the advanced, multi-functional machine that is the free market.

Taliban waits out Obama - Washington Times
The only reason for the drawdown is the arbitrary deadline Mr. Obama set when he announced the Afghan troop buildup over 18 months ago. Perhaps he believed at the time that July 2011 was distant enough that the same dynamics that were seen in Iraq would come into play and the security situation would be under control. This didn’t happen, but even though violence has increased in Afghanistan, Mr. Obama is stubbornly clinging to his original deadline. It’s not a decision based on military necessity but a political face-saving gesture."

Real Fascism!
The thing is that President Bush never demanded that grocery manufacturers alter their ingredients or else face stern penalties, including banishment from the airwaves. You read that correctly. Under the rubric of combating childhood obesity, The Federal Trade Commission, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture are ordering food producers to retool the amount of sugar, sodium, and fats in their products, particularly those marketed to children. If not, come 2016, the violating manufacturers are forbidden from advertising on television, in video games, or in any other venue that children are drawn to."

If not, come 2016, the violating manufacturers are forbidden from advertising on television, in video games, or in any other venue that children are drawn to."
AP NewsBreak: A twist in Obama's health care law - Yahoo! News
THAT'S what happens when you sign a Bill into LAW without reading the damned thing! Hey, Nancy....how's this all working out for you????
President Barack Obama's health care law would let several million middle-class people get nearly free insurance meant for the poor, a twist government number crunchers say they discovered only after the complex bill was signed.
The change would affect early retirees: A married couple could have an annual income of about $64,000 and still get Medicaid, said officials who make long-range cost estimates for the Health and Human Services department."

A Constitutional Convention Is a Dangerous Idea - Opinion - PatriotPost.US
Not being real big on Facebook and/or Twitter - mostly due to the nothingness that gets put on them respectively....what a swell idea this would be....YIKES.....
The left's assault on liberty never rests, so don't ever be sucked into supporting the dangerous idea of a new constitutional convention, even if its stated purposes purport to be limited.
Recently, CNN's Fareed Zakaria spoke admiringly of how 'Iceland is actually junking its own constitution and starting anew and ... soliciting ideas from all of Iceland's 320,000 citizens, with the help of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.'"

Huge Marine Drill Confirms Ground Invasion of Libya Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!
Now, don't get me wrong.....I am a HUGE supporter of EVERYTHING Military. I think it's probably the ONLY thing our Government still does well.
However, we have been at War in one form or another since what - Jan. 1991? I know because the photo of my brother boarding his A-10 that night still stares down at me from my Office wall. One of the proudest and scariest moments of my life.
Don't we, by now, have a pretty good handle on whether or not everything "works" well? There are some things this Administration do that just make ya wonder.....
And IF this is a pre-cursor to Libya.....why? They have yet been able to frame our reasons. Even if you NEVER agreed with the Bush Administration - he told you why. Not that I don't think that Monster should go....but we couldn't even lift a finger in support for the Green revolution in Iran...a country FAR scarier...and in this one we're willing to shed more American blood....

Yesterday, I called on conservatives and conservative organizations to actually dare to retaliate against Republican members of Congress who refuse to cut, cap, and balance before raising the debt ceiling.
If any Republican dares to raise the debt ceiling without first ensuring (1) cuts in the budget; (2) caps in spending; and (3) the Lee-Cornyn-Hatch Balanced Budget Amendment makes it out to the states, conservatives must agree to at least attempt to find someone to primary them in their next election. More importantly, there must be zero tolerance for forgiveness on this issue."

It’s Time to Think Big: Re-Elect President Palin, 2016 - Big Government
Although her bus tour is over, the media still can’t let her go. Now they’re all busy letting us know how her bus tour didn’t help her numbers at all or trying to somehow persuade us that John Ziegler’s opinion matters. I’m sorry, but I see the way people listen when Palin talks, the way they react when she shakes hands with them, and the genuine love for country she displayed in her 24,000 emails the mainstream media thought they could use to bring her down."
ObamaCare continues to rear it's Ugly Side - Patriot Post
The point of [the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act] is cost containment. This supposedly depends on the Independent Payment Advisory Board. The IPAB, which is a perfect expression of the progressive mind, is to be composed of 15 presidential appointees empowered to reduce Medicare spending -- which is 13 percent of federal spending -- to certain stipulated targets. IPAB is to do this by making 'proposals' or 'recommendations' to limit costs by limiting reimbursements to doctors. This, inevitably, will limit available treatments -- and access to care when physicians leave the Medicare system."
MSNBC‘s ’Morning Joe‘ Mocks Rick Perry’s Weekend Speech: ‘Felt Like an Alien’ | Breaking news and opinion on The Blaze
It seems the crew over at MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” just can’t wrap its head around a Rick Perry presidential run. On this morning’s show, Mika Brzezinksi said she “felt like an alien” while watching people applaud the TX Gov’s weekend speech at the Republican Leadership Conference, while Joe Scarborough compared it to comedian Will Ferrell’s Broadway show mocking George W. Bush.
“I think I saw this guy on Broadway,” Scarborough quipped after watching the clip of Perry, referring to Ferrell’s show “You’re Welcome, America.” Later he added, “I don’t get it.”"

The Hard Life of Muslim Terrorists in Israeli Prison | FrontPage Magazine
For Muslim terrorists in Israeli prisons, life is more like a vacation. Hamas terrorist Haytham Battat, who was responsible for the murder of four Israelis, uses his Facebook page to share Jihadi videos from YouTube. In his recent facebook photos, PFLP terrorist Saeed Omar, who was sentenced to nineteen years in jail, poses with his favorite soccer team’s banner, feasts with other terrorists on a table covered with dozens of dishes supplemented by bottles of Coca Cola, and posts scraps of poetry calling for the destruction of Israel."

Yesterday the Senate voted to repeal ethanol tax credits in a bipartisan 73-27 vote. The measure is expected to save the federal government $31 billion over the next five years, money that will be applied to deficit reduction. That’s good news for people concerned about out of control government spending, and the vote will certainly help Senators establish their fiscally conservative bona fides, but the net effect on the industry and on consumers will be negligible."

No doubt to the surprise of many, this includes slow but steady reports of mob violence in major Chinese cities. China continues to present itself to the world as a superpower in waiting, as a country ready to stand alongside the United States as joint masters of the world. But unless they can get their social problems under control, though they might not follow several Arab regimes into disgrace and exile, they certainly will struggle to command the international legitimacy they clearly crave."

Obama Backs EPA War on Coal, While Networks Ignore Harm to Industry
It is no longer a secret that President Obama's administration is willing to allow electricity prices to 'necessarily skyrocket,' in order to accomplish his green energy agenda.

The Fordham Foundation Yet Again Pretends to Lean Right to Attack Rick Perry From the Left | RedState
Yesterday on National Review Online, Checker Finn took one pot shot after another at the state of Texas and publicly displayed his hand-wringing over Texas Governor Rick Perry’s potential influence on national education policy. You see, Mr. Finn tries - quite unsuccessfully in my view – to target Texas “bravado” as the threat to a sound education policy. On the one hand, he attempts to criticize Governor Perry by lumping him in with George W. Bush’s efforts to push No Child Left Behind, despite Perry’s resistance to embrace it. Then he turns around and says now we will somehow suffer because Perry’s national policy prefers to leave education to the states (heaven forbid)."

Reality Check: Higher Taxes Simply Won't Solve the U.S. Revenue Problem - HUMAN EVENTS
Economically, liberals ascribe to this dictum: The floggings will continue until morale improves. At least that is what their call for higher taxes to close the federal deficit implies. Instead of seeing an economy struggling to recover, they see income awaiting redistribution.
The Left has been making much of the fact that federal tax revenue, as a percentage of the economy, is at its lowest since 1950. Instead of ascribing this to the recent recession, liberals attribute the federal deficit to it. Curiously, they do not manage to place the deficit at spending’s doorstep—or mention that its increase is even more pronounced—though it is at t its highest point since 1946 and exceeded only by WWII."

What GOP Presidential Candidates Can Learn From Marco Rubio's Exceptional Maiden Speech - HUMAN EVENTS
Freshman Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio delivered his maiden speech on the floor of the Senate yesterday and it was a speech all GOP presidential contenders should watch.
It was the best speech of the 2012 presidential cycle, except the person who delivered it has all but ruled himself off of the 2012 ticket on numerous occasions.
The GOP presidential field has been criticized for not having passion or conviction, and Rubio’s speech lit up the normally staid Senate chamber to the extent that this is possible. It had a clear argument, an emotional arc, personal tie-ins, and was delivered with conviction. Too often, even in the GOP, politicians talk about American exceptionalism as if it is an academic exercise.

Confession of a Reluctant Tea-Partier
When candidate Obama showed up, I realized that I had heard his typical stump speech every single day of my old Soviet life from big and small Communist party bosses -- the same structure, the same cadences, the same bogeymen, the same demagoguery, the same targets. The American people had no defense against this rhetoric. The result of the elections was totally predictable. To me it was a 'Back to the Future' moment."

New Mexico Secretary of State Dianna Duran has turned over about 64,000 cases of what she calls possible voter fraud to the State Department of Public Safety for investigation.
That's more than 10 percent of the 607,700 people who voted in the 2010 general election in New Mexico -- and it's way more than the 37 cases of foreign nationals illegally voting that Duran mentioned at a legislative hearing earlier this year, the newspaper reported."

‘Palin 2.0’ – The Mainstream Media’s Attempt to Deny Sarah Palin’s Vindication - Big Government
Since her national debut in August 2008, the mainstream media has been determined to destroy Gov. Sarah Palin. Journalists flocked to Alaska to dig up dirt. Dozens of Republicans Vote for Handouts to Big Labor | RedState
Yesterday, the House passed the largely non-controversial Military Construction/Veterans Affairs Appropriations (MilCon) bill for FY 2012. Unfortunately, it is these non-controversial bills which provide a safe haven for meretricious policy initiatives through the rapid fire amendment process. While everyone was focused on presidential politics, the House passed an amendment forcing government contractors to use labor unions on federal construction projects. Oh, and like most bad legislation, this amendment passed by one vote, with the help of 27 Republicans."

Yesterday, Barack Obama gave away the game. Without actually using the words, Barack Obama admitted he is completely and utterly ignorant about job creation and economics. In an interview with the Today Show, Barack Obama declared that the unemployment rate remains so high because of ATMS.
Sadly, many people will agree with him because they lack the vision to see the whole picture. They see less bank tellers and more ATMs — much as Barack Obama does — and presume this must mean higher unemployment. This myth, and it is a myth, is older than even the great lament that cars put blacksmiths on the unemployment line by getting rid of the need for horse shoes."

Is the Soros-Sponsored ‘Agenda 21’ a Hidden Plan for World Government? (Yes, Only it Is Not Hidden) | The Blaze
Agenda 21 is a two-decade old, grand plan for global ’Sustainable Development,’ brought to you from the United Nations. George H.W. Bush (and 177 other world leaders) agreed to it back in 1992, and in 1995, Bill Clinton signed Executive Order #12858, creating a Presidential Council on ‘Sustainable Development.’ This effectively pushed the UN plan into America’s large, churning government machine without the need for any review or discussion by Congress or the American people."

After two of the best months a potential presidential candidate could possibly have, the Daily Caller lobbed a grenade at the Palin Camp Sunday night in the form of a John Ziegler piece titled: “The Sarah Palin I Know.” The news here is that Ziegler — a columnist, documentary filmmaker, and radio talk show host who’s probably most famous for being one of Governor Palin’s chief defenders, has come out very publicly to proclaim that she’s not only incapable of defeating Barack Obama in 2012, but also that any potential candidacy on her part could hurt those — like Tim Pawlenty — who are capable of defeating Obama."

The outcome, as far as the NLRB hearing is concerned, is already a foregone conclusion. The hearing is a procedural nuisance that Boeing will have to endure to eventually have its case heard in the federal courts—which is likely where the case will end up, barring any “face-saving” settlement negotiated with the union and the NLRB."
