In a second major retraction over its version of the the gun-walking scandal, the Justice Department has retracted Attorney General Eric Holder's charge in a hearing last week that his Bush administration predecessor had been briefed on the affair.

In a memo just released by Sen. Chuck Grassley, the Iowa senator reveals that Holder also didn't apologize to former Attorney General Michael Mukasey for dragging him into the Fast & Furious scandal that is headed for a major legal clash and likely contempt of Congress charge against Holder.

“This Fast and Furious debacle started under the Bush administration,” Jackson Lee declared. “And it is been evidenced by various reports that it started under the ATL office in Arizona unbeknownst to leadership in Washington DC, at least leadership that came in under the Obama administration in this instance, Eric Holder.”

Attempts by Democrats to pin the Fast and Furious operation on Bush, however, don’t stand. National Review’s Andrew McCarthy explains:

This number comes from the combined assets of all labor unions and farm bureaus. After all their expenses, lobbying efforts, and voter intimidation efforts, these organized labor gangsters still have more money than the entire GDP of many countries. None of it is taxed, and 92% of them are in violation of Dept. of Labor audits.

The Union of Unemployed (UCubed) Activists is an Internet-centric “community service project” of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) — one of the country’s largest industrial trade unions.

I must admit I’ve never understood the concept that some people would be excused from paying zero taxes and so would be completely disinvested in the system. I doubt I’m alone in favoring a far simpler tax code or my unease at the government’s willingness to push social or random political agendas through taxation. I doubt I am alone among residents of Montgomery County, Maryland, when I avoid shopping at local outlets and instead head to more consumer-friendly locations in Virginia. I can save 60 cents (!) a gallon simply by driving 15 minutes to Fairfax, Virginia. When it comes to tax burden, a new posting from my colleague Mark Perry offers some damning statistics:

A Massachusetts judge has found that the rights of an atheist couple and their children aren't being violated when the words "under God" are recited in the Pledge of Allegiance in Acton schools.

The Boston Globe reports that Middlesex Superior Court Judge Jane Haggerty also ruled there was no violation of state law or the school's anti-discrimination policy.

Unions suffered a resounding defeat in Wisconsin last week. They're far from down and out, however. Unable to reverse their decline in membership under existing law, they are circumventing Congress and using the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to create an entirely new type of union. A new rule hatched by the Obama-appointed board, authorizes the creation of union cells—organizing a few employees within a company to gain a foothold—which will severely impact businesses.

Private Jobs Down 4.6 Million From January 2008; Federal Jobs Up 11.4%...

President Obama’s statement Friday that the private sector is “doing fine” drew so much ridicule that he was forced to backtrack hours later. But it’s clear that Obama and many other Democrats see job problems — and solutions — starting and stopping with government employment.

A quick look at payroll stats shows that’s not the case.

Private-sector jobs are still down by 4.6 million, or 4%, from January 2008, when overall employment peaked. Meanwhile government jobs are down just 407,000, or 1.8%. Federal employment actually is 225,000 jobs above its January 2008 level, an 11.4% increase. That’s right, up 11.4%.

WHY? Why would the government....guardians of the Constitution...not help in anyway they can to INSURE that American CITIZENS are voting on our countries future?

As I wrote last week, Florida officials are trying to verify that everyone registered to vote is a valid citizen by asking some of the voters whose records raise red flags to confirm their citizenship. Florida is currently using data from the state DMV to see whether non-citizens may be voting, but what they want to use are records from the Department of Homeland Security, which has more recent records on a person’s citizenship status. The Department has stalled, refusing to grant their request for access.

Glenn Beck Explains Why The Federal Reserve Is a ‘Scam’ .....

Beck believes that the Federal Reserve and the Treasury are doing something “you and I couldn’t get away with,” and that’s “writing bad checks.”

“We are paying them for the privilege of bailing them out,” Beck quipped. “How is that not criminal?”

There have been no less than seven government bailouts “funded by you since 2008” with a price-tag of $2 trillion. Beck asked what taxpayers have gotten in return.

Earlier this year, the students' choice of mascot for the Corner Canyon High School was axed by the local school board. Located in suburban Salt Lake City, Corner Canyon is a new school set to open in the fall 2012. Students slated to enroll in the school overwhelmingly voted for "Cougars." However, the board felt the name would be offensive to older women (Cougar is a slang term for older women who are attracted to younger men) and instead gave the school the nickname "Chargers."

The Auto Bailout and the UAW.......and 26.5 billion in taxpayer funds....

Earlier today, The Heritage Foundation released a paper by Center for Data Analysis senior fellow James Sherk on the cost of the auto bailout that took place in 2009. According to Sherk, the taxpayers are expected to lose about $23 billion in the bailout, and all of these losses are accountable to one thing: the Obama administration's special treatment of the United Auto Workers (UAW) during the bankruptcy process General Motors and Chrysler experienced in 2009. Sherk's paper shows that this special treatment will cost the taxpayers a total of $26.5 billion.

Americans saw wealth plummet 40 percent from 2007 to 2010, Federal Reserve says .....

The recent recession wiped out nearly two decades of Americans’ wealth, according to government data released Monday, with middle-class families bearing the brunt of the decline.

The Federal Reserve said the median net worth of families plunged by 39 percent in just three years, from $126,400 in 2007 to $77,300 in 2010. That puts Americans roughly on par with where they were in 1992.

North Dakota Voters Consider Ending Property Tax.....

If that reaction is so universally understandable, maybe somebody can explain why people haven’t done the same to Jesse Jackson, for his shelf life surely expired a long time ago. He still somehow fancies himself relevant, a wise elder who speaks for a downtrodden aggregate, when in fact he is more like a man attending a black tie dinner wearing a leisure suit, or the guy who shows up for a date wearing a Nehru jacket with Edwin Starr blaring on an 8- Track. The only thing missing is his Afro because nothing else has changed about him since the 60’s.

Lord...where have YOU been? I haven't had an un-connected vacation in YEARS.....in fact...

I find I'm more stressed out because I can see what's going on and what needs to be done...but I'm not physically there to jump in..... 

Took 4 days off ( well 1 - over a weekend ) and it sucked because of work issues....walked back into a disaster nobody wanted to tell us about because we were "On Vacation".....

In this fast-paced world of non-stop connectivity, more of us can be spotted doing work tasks when we should be experiencing much-deserved down time. This is especially true on those rare (for some of us) vacations, when instead of sipping drinks with umbrellas on the beach, we are checking email and dealing with work issues.

What's Changed After Wisconsin...

What happened in Wisconsin signals a shift in political mood and assumption. Public employee unions were beaten back and defeated in a state with a long progressive tradition. The unions and their allies put everything they had into "one of their most aggressive grass-roots campaigns ever," as the Washington Post's Paul Whoriskey and Dan Balz reported in a day-after piece. Fifty thousand volunteers made phone calls and knocked on 1.4 million doors to get out the vote against Gov. Scott Walker. Mr. Walker's supporters, less deeply organized on the ground, had a considerable advantage in money.

On Tuesday evening, Glenn Beck delivered some very sobering voter registration statistics. Did you know that 33 million — or, 14% of Americans of voting age — believe they are registered to vote but are not? As part of phase two of his new four-part plan to take back America, Glenn Beck and GBTV launched a massive voter registration drive Tuesday evening — and the results are already significant.

The recall heard round the world....

I watched the Wisconsin returns on MSNBC Tuesday night, and it came right down to the wire between “the Democrats were outspent 7-to-1″ and “Republicans are stripping union rights!” As we go to press it’s still too close to call.President Obama wanted to go to Wisconsin, but he just didn’t have time. He’s been doing so many campaign fundraisers lately he barely has time to play golf.

The left’s “outspent” argument is ridiculous. Unions take money by force from members, hire hundreds of political operatives and give them salaries to work on campaigns, then call them “volunteers” so their work isn’t reported as a campaign contribution.
