'NY Times' Chairman Asked About Spiked Obama-ACORN Story - The Philadelphia Bulletin:
New York Times chairman Arthur Sulzberger was asked about the March 30 The Bulletin report that his paper intentionally did not use information that might be deleterious to the Obama campaign.
Julian Gammon, a minority shareholder, asked the question during the annual shareholders meeting in The New York Times offices on April 23.
“He said he didn’t know anything about it and told me to give the details to his staff assistant and she would get back to me,” Mr. Gammon told the Bulletin in an email.
Mr. Gammon said that he gave all the information to the assistant – including a copy of the Bulletin story. To date he has not received a reply."

And Uncle Sam will have a controlling share of the stock with something close to 50 percent ownership. And no bankruptcy judge. The sun is the least active it's been in decades and the dimmest in a hundred years. The lull is causing some scientists to recall the Little Ice Age, an unusual cold spell in Europe and North America, which lasted from about 1300 to 1850."

But as important as those three issues are, a statement published Friday by the Examiner from a national coordinating group of the nascent movement points to an even more fundamental concern. It speaks to the essential condition for the survival of a republic – the preservation of comity between the people and their representatives in government."

Shorenstein, 94, is the founder of Shorenstein Properties LLC, one of the nation's largest privately owned real estate companies.
After serving in World War II, I arrived in San Francisco with no job, a pregnant wife and less than $1,000 to my name.
I've lived through the Great Depression and several wars, and I've ridden the ups and downs of economic and real estate cycles. Now in my 10th decade, I've seen things and learned lessons that apply to individuals and families, small businesses and multinational corporations, as well as state and federal governments - especially now, as people struggle to make sense of the current financial upheaval. America has the most Left of center president in its history, and Democrats have overwhelming majorities in both houses of Congress. People have openly talked about whether the Republican Party can even survive. Its standard bearer in the last presidential election was profoundly uninspiring. The energy shortage threatens our economic and national security well-being. The economy, in general, is in a shamble and all the President promises America is a hard road ahead. Our enemies, particularly in Afghanistan, seem to be winning. Europe is sullenly indifferent to America. Yes, there was a brief tax revolt, and this did shake the Left up a bit, but it lasted all of one day. Is there hope in this picture?"

But we cannot judge an economic policy to be 'working' simply by detecting such an increase in GDP. Nor may we say policy has 'succeeded' just from increases in government jobs or government-subsidized jobs. An economy's success, properly speaking, is one that increases long-term levels of production with robust private sector employment. In short, inflation and public sector growth do not mean a policy has 'worked.' As the essence of Obamanomics is easy money and government aggrandizement, there are lots of reasons for pessimism. Here are ten of them"
