White House ‘Cyber Czar’ Resigns; Let’s Not Replace Her. | Danger Room | Wired.com

White House ‘Cyber Czar’ Resigns; Let’s Not Replace Her. | Danger Room | Wired.com: "A “czar” position is the exact opposite of what we need to successfully defeat cyber space adversaries. The botnet that denies service to your governmental web sites might have been assembled by a Brazilian, who borrowed code from an Israeli, who launders his money through a Russian. None of them have met in person, and next month they may all switch roles - and throw in some Americans and Chinese to boot - for a totally different attack. A cyber czar is fighting a network with an org chart."

Biden fails to draw crowd in Erie

Wattsburg, Pa. — Vice President Joe Biden visited a small town on the outskirts of Erie today to talk to rural folks about federal stimulus money that can be used to expand broadband access to the Internet for rural areas that typically have poor connections.

Apparently stimulus money and broadband are not all that interesting to the local folk here: Only around 100 or so people have showed up so far to hear Biden talk at noon at Seneca High School off Route 8 in Wattsburg.

The room looked so sparse that about 30 or so chairs were removed by volunteers to give the illusion of a full house.

The effect didn't exactly work."

Hacker named to Homeland Security Advisory Council | Tech News on ZDNet

Hacker named to Homeland Security Advisory Council | Tech News on ZDNet: "Moss, who is genuinely humble, said he was 'fantastically honored and excited to contribute' to the HSAC and not concerned with losing any street cred among what some would call his fan base. He did concede that his new position would give him an unfair advantage in Defcon's 'Spot The Fed' contest in which people win prizes for successfully outing undercover government agents."

GPS satellites not 'falling out of the sky': Air Force: "In keeping with its high-tech mission, Colonel Dave Buckman, a spokesman for Air Force Space Command, which is based at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado, took to micro-blogging service Twitter to allay any fears.
'No, GPS will not go down,' Buckman said in a Twitter message. 'GPS isn't falling out of the sky.'"
