Paul Ryan Supports Prayer in Public Schools....
When I was younger - I attended first Catholic School - then public.
I remember ( 45 years ago ) kids voluntarily NOT saying the morning prayers and also not saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
I did not agree even at that age...but respected their right. I do again today.
But even though I am a totally lapsed Catholic with no intention of returning there....I believe one of the things missing in this Country's soul is the presence of God in our lives.... let the States decide.
The Wisconsin congressman addressed the issue during a brief stop inside a Republican volunteer center in Provo, Utah. He was in the state to attend a fundraiser.
Asked by a volunteer whether he supported giving states the right to allow “prayer or pledge” in schools, Ryan said he did.
“That’s a constitutional issue of the states, moral responsibility of parents, education,” Ryan continued.

"Fair Taxation" Rant: Warren didn't build that either...
Last week, Professor William Jacoboson at Legal Insurrection noted that Elizabeth Warren and Barack Obama's words sounded an awful lot like another person's. That person is progressive thought leader George Lakoff, who developed the whole narrative. So those 990,000 views of her views on "fair taxation", yeah Warren didn't build that.
Our new Red Mass Group videography intern, Evan Kenney, took a look.

The universal health care dogs that aren't barking
American Thinker Blog: The universal health care dogs that aren't barking:
Oddly enough, as the nation considers ObamaCare, the press is completely uninterested in the experience of Massachusetts and Hawaii, both of which have ambitious, and failed, experiments in trying to provide universal health care. Mitt Romney, the architect of the Bay State's health care plan, which is costing far more than expected, is largely absent from the airwaves, despite his legitimate claim to be an expert. The Boston Globe calls the plan a 'failure' and notes 'The state's plan flunks on all counts.'"

Anger follows California budget crisis deal
Anger follows California budget crisis deal: "Anger over proposals to solve California's budget crisis are mounting as reports said the plan would see thousands of prisoners released and billions slashed from education spending.
The Los Angeles Times reported on its website that the budget deal, announced by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and bipartisan lawmakers on Monday, would involve the early release of thousands of inmates."

FT.com: US state budgets hit by shrinking tax take
FT.com / US / Economy & Fed - US state budgets hit by shrinking tax take:
Sharply falling tax revenues across the US have left states facing fresh budget shortfalls and threatening further painful spending and service cuts following previous multiple rounds of belt-tightening.
In the first quarter of the calendar year, tax collections dropped by 11.7 per cent, the largest fall on record, according to the Rockefeller Institute of Government. Of 50 states, some 45 reported declines."

RealClearPolitics - Video - Gov. Rendell: State Workers Should "Put A Statue Of Me" On Their Mantel
Again, and Again and again i say.....we GET WHAT we deserve if we let them control our lives...we GET what we deserve. Have we become this weak kneed that any politician, regardless of their voting record or American values can just snap their fingers and buy us off WITH OUR OWN MONEY! Remember, it OUR tax payer money - no free lunch. How STUPID have we become????
RealClearPolitics - Video - Gov. Rendell: State Workers Should "Put A Statue Of Me" On Their Mantel: "'Most of those state workers -- I've arranged for them to get a $15,000 loan with no interest, so if they're paying off $6,000 worth of credit debt at 14 percent, they should put a statue of me up on their mantel place,' Rendell said."

Rhode Island challenges federal ban by authorizing cultivation and sale of cannabis
The Little State That Says To Washington: 'Yes We Cannabis!'
"...Rhode Island legislators, only two years after passage of the original medical cannabis laws, recognized that a self-preservation model is inadequate to serve the needs of sick, dying or sense-threatened patients who need whole-smoked cannabis and edibles. Again, in full opposition to the Governor and federal agencies, the legislature overrode a second veto to establish Rhode Island as the first bona fide state to legally sanction and license third parties to cultivate and sell cannabis (in the case of Rhode Island, the recent medical cannabis legislation has provided initial approval to three medical cannabis wellness centers for the entire state)."

Obama asking states to lie when counting jobs 'saved or created' by stim bill
American Thinker Blog: Unbelievable: Obama asking states to lie when counting jobs 'saved or created' by stim bill:
Rick Moran
President Obama is going to have a triumph with his stim bill - even if he has to get the states to fudge the number of Americans it's supposed to be helping.
It won't matter if unemployment tops 10%. Obama will simply point to these fictional numbers he will be getting from states and say, 'You think it's bad now? Look at how bad it would have been if I hadn't acted?'
It's a win-win situation; and Obama is rigging the final score:"

American Thinker: After Obama Fails
American Thinker: After Obama Fails:
A failed presidency for Barack Obama could turn into liberalism's worst nightmare. Barely six months into his term, the 44th president has succeeded in generating the most widespread and serious discussion of secession since the Civil War. Despite what Newsweek's Evan Thomas may claim, Obama is not the 'God' who will bring us together but the autocratic sponsor of an overbearing, oppressive leviathan from which a growing number of Americans are seeking refuge."

Let's Keep Many Eyes on the Banks - WSJ.com
"The nation is about to make two momentous policy choices about the future of our financial system. One will be made by the president, the other by the Supreme Court. Both decisions involve the proper roles for state and federal regulatory authority, and both have far-reaching consequences. Yet the country seems barely aware of the issues, or the stakes involved."
Let's Keep Many Eyes on the Banks - WSJ.com: "We have much to lose by any well-intentioned but perilous experiment in extreme centralization. If such an experiment does not live up to expectations, there would be no simple way for states to restore their authority and the balance of power. Authority once relinquished is seldom regained.
As Thomas Jefferson so aptly warned in a letter to George Washington in 1791, for the federal government to overstep the boundaries of the states is 'to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible to any definition.'"

Secession: the Ultimate States' Right
Congressman Ron Paul - Secession: the Ultimate States' Right - Texas Straight Talk
Last week the governor of Texas ignited a media firestorm for his remarks involving the idea of secession. He did not call for Texas to secede from the United States. He merely pointed out that the federal government was treading heavily on the sovereignty of the states and that this can not continue indefinitely without a breaking point.. Secession is the last resort of states whose sovereignty is over-ridden by an overreaching federal government. The federal government has only itself to blame for this talk...Without the right to secede, state’s rights are meaningless.
A republican form of government should also be as close to the people as possible, which means the decisions of local governing bodies must be respected. Where the decisions of local governments are disregarded, the voice of the people is also disregarded. The more that happens, the more frustrated and angry the people will become.

South Carolina governor trumped, must take stimulus money - CNN.com
South Carolina governor trumped, must take stimulus money - CNN.com: "South Carolina's Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Gov. Mark Sanford must accept $700 million in federal stimulus money, ending the only formal effort by a governor to reject funding intended to jump-start an ailing economy.
Gov. Mark Sanford became the conservative face of opposition to the federal stimulus package.
The two-term Republican said he would abide by the court ruling, but called it a bad day for South Carolina and the country.
'This decision is terrible news for every taxpayer in South Carolina, and even more so for future taxpayers who will ultimately bear the responsibility of paying for this so-called 'stimulus' without seeing any benefit from it,' he said in a statement."
