Obama’s Fiscal Cliff Plan Still Not Balanced.....
Obama’s latest counteroffer is no more acceptable than his first offer. Short on details concerning actual spending reductions, especially on entitlements, it is replete with his requisite tax hikes and (we are shocked) new stimulus spending. The cherry on top is an extension of the debt limit for two years, essentially handing over authority to raise it to the President.
Right.
Right.

Republicans Control Best-Run States in America, 24/7 Wall St. Survey Shows.....
...And we're surprised why???
The list is based on a review of data for financial health, standard of living and government services. While noting that current situations may stem from decisions made years ago and that external factors like weather can be as much to blame as poor governance, 24/7 Wall St. also points out that all of the high-ranking states have “well-managed budgets” and the worst states have “high debt relative to both income and expenditure.”

Ann Coulter: Romney was not the problem......
The idea that Romney failed to present a clear contrast with Obama or was too “nice” is also nonsense. If Republicans continue to tell themselves comforting myths about our candidate being the problem, they better get used to losing a lot more elections.
The only Republican to defeat a sitting president in the last century was Ronald Reagan in 1980, when he beat Jimmy Carter, the second-worst president in U.S. history (pending the final results of Obama’s second term). Because of that, and also because he is in the top two best American presidents, Reagan’s example is worth studying.

Mitt Romney: A good man. The right fight........
When much of what passes for a political intelligentsia these days predicted that the selection of Rep. Paul Ryan meant certain death on the third rail of Medicare and Social Security, Mitt Romney brought the fight to the Democrats and made the rational, persuasive case for entitlement reform that conservatives have so desperately needed. The nation listened, thought about it — and on Election Day, Mitt Romney carried seniors by a wide margin. And it’s safe to say that the entitlement discussion will never be the same.

We Don't Know Why We Lost Because We Don't Know Who We Are.....
Interesting Read....
Theories abound regarding the Republican implosion on November 6th. If you are an avid reader, you no doubt have read the gamut of postulation. We've seen the far right conclude we need to move further right. The Rockefeller wing (yes, it is much smaller, but it's still there) says we need to slide to the left! The mainstream media and the left (if you can separate the two) have pretty much just written us off as irrelevant. To date, I don't think anyone has it quite right, so I now attempt to crack the code. Some of you may not like it.

The Bush Crack-Up.....1993
Interesting read from 1993 considering the outcome of this election and the hysteria that now seems to prevail...
The post-election air over Washington is filled with the cries of disappointed Republicans that George Bush's convincing, yet not overwhelming, defeat could have been averted if only the President and his team had run a better campaign. Even Vice President Quayle, saluting the focused, largely blunder-free race run by Bill Clinton, suggested that a poor campaign was responsible for the Republican ticket's demise. In fact, the seeds of Bush's defeat were sown long before the campaign began, and it is far from clear that even the most brilliant race by Bush could have changed the outcome.

Bill Kristol Caves on Higher Taxes.....
It's excusable to the vast electorate who do not understand effective tax rates and their across the board impact...but from Bill? Inexcusable.
Bill Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard, is looking for someone to whom to surrender. And so is much of the Republican establishment, so desperate to hold onto positions of influence that they are willing to abandon the newly-confirmed House majority and a bedrock Republican principle for the last two decades.
Giving in on Obama's tax hikes would not win many votes. But it would certainly end the GOP as a viable opposition.

My Spine Has Stiffened......
The conservative movement took it pretty good on the chin earlier this week. President Obama and his liberal allies mobilized their vote and got it out very effectively in the key states. On Tuesday night, as I went to bed, I was extremely down and out. But on Wednesday, as the sun rose, my spine stiffened and it was a brand new day.

Boehner Folds, Tax Hikes on Table....
Time to go!!! Sorry John...but NO, the American people did NOT vote for this...
The day after Obama's spend, spend, spend, and tax, tax, tax, policies garnered him a second term in the White House, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) offered the president a way to save the economy which included raising taxes "under the right conditions."
With all due respect to Speaker Boehner, when in the hell are the right conditions to raise taxes?
Where We Go From Here.....
Many conservatives probably knew better in their hearts than to predict a Romney win, but just couldn't come to terms with the depressing reality of a second Obama term. Rationalization is common among man; it's how we avoid unwelcome truths. But it also blinds us to danger. Just think, for instance, of Jews who saw their coming winter in 1930s Germany and emigrated; then think of those who didn't because they couldn't face reality. This is how dangerous rationalization can be.

Paul Ryan Lays Out a Vision for Reforming Welfare, Fighting Poverty....
Tragically, this massive welfare state has been a driver of dependency. Today, 100 million Americans—roughly one-third of the U.S. population—receive aid from a government welfare program (not including Social Security, Medicare, or unemployment insurance).
As Ryan noted, in the 1990s Congress passed the historic welfare reform law, inserting work requirements into the largest federal cash assistance program. This was a huge success.

Four things Paul Ryan must do to win Thursday's debate .....
Republican vice presidential candidate Paul D. Ryan shouldn’t have a hard time winning Thursday night’s Danville, Ky. debate against incumbent Joe Biden.
This debate will be a chance for a national audience to see Ryan. He’ll be tempted to wade deeply into the topics that are likely to emerge, such as Medicare, Social Security, and the federal budget. Still, given Biden’s tendency toward broad talk, Ryan will do best to present his facts clearly and not dally among the numbers and figures that aren’t likely to reach viewers.

To Get Past "47 Percent": It's the Culture, Stupid!
Get with it, Romney team. The public may be somewhat ignorant (i.e., may not follow issues and thus may not know information that all of us activists know), but the public isn't dumb. It can absorb economic arguments and ALSO take in cultural arguments at the same time.
Or does anyone not think that hunters in Ohio and Wisconsin and in the Blue Ridge in Virginia will fail to respond to effective reminders of how anti-2nd Amendment was the position of the Obama administration in the Heller case? Can anybody doubt that suburban moms won't respond negatively to news that the Obama Education Department is moving to undermine school discipline by requiring a quota system for suspensions and expulsions rather than basing punishment on the actual incidence of violations?
It really is the culture, stupid.

Tierney launches first TV ad ....
Richard is a good and decent man. He is responsive to people's requests......in a way Tierney couldn't begin to do. If you look up the definition of an "Empty Suit"...I wouldn't be surprised to see a photo of John Tierney.
Tisei responded to the ad by urging voters in Massachusetts' 6th Congressional District to "consider the source" of the ad and examine his opponent's record in Congress.
"All John Tierney has to offer the voters is fear itself," Tisei said in a statement. Tierney has been targeted by GOP leaders as being perhaps the most politically vulnerable of the state's all-Democratic House delegation, as the incumbent faces claims that he had knowledge of the illegal nature of a gambling venture being operated by his two brothers-in-law in the Caribbean.

Dirty Harry....Mission Accomplished!
“President Obama is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people,” Eastwood told The Pine Cone this week. “Romney and Ryan would do a much better job running the country, and that’s what everybody needs to know. I may have irritated a lot of the lefties, but I was aiming for people in the middle.”

GOP wowed by Ryan speech ......
“College graduates should not have to live out their twenties in their childhood bedrooms, staring up at fading Obama posters and wondering when they can move out and get going with life,” Ryan said. “Everyone who feels stuck in the Obama economy is right to focus on the here and now. And I hope you understand this too, if you’re feeling left out or passed by: You have not failed, your leaders have failed you.”
