Do not let these polls fool you. In 1980 similar polls showed Jimmy Carter leading the Old Cowboy almost to the very end. Carter was ahead of Governor Ronald Reagan by 4 points in late September, by 8 points in October, and the Gallup polls had him ahead of Reagan by 6 points in last days of the election. Reagan won by 9 points, sweeping 44 states. In 1988 Governor Dukakis at one point led Vice President George H. W. Bush by 17 points. He lost by almost 8 points.

It makes me wonder if they have any explicit or implicit mission statement. For example, is it, "My mission as a journalist is to choose a political candidate and then select and slant what I report so as to help him/her get into office." In my previous post...I asked how Clinton went unscathed for his security lapse regarding 9/11/2001..... guess he didn't.....
It seems only fair, then, to remind the American public that not only does Obama skip most of his daily intelligence briefings, but also that the Clinton administration bears some of the blame for allowing 9/11 to happen. The 9/11 commission identified several Clinton failures, including four missed chances to kill Osama bin Laden, and a failure to adopt “a more aggressive counterterrorism posture” after Al Qaeda’s initial attacks.

In a final rule published last week, the Justice Department granted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) authority to “seize and administratively forfeit property involved in controlled-substance abuses.” That means government can grab firearms and other property from someone who has never been convicted or even charged with any crime.

I think what this wing of their Party represents is unsettling at the very least....
The fight over including a single mention of God in the platform—that was extreme. The original removal of the single mention by the platform committee—extreme. The huge "No!" vote on restoring the mention of God, and including the administration's own stand on Jerusalem—that wasn't liberal, it was extreme. Comparing the Republicans to Nazis—extreme. The almost complete absence of a call to help education by facing down the powers that throw our least defended children under the school bus—this was extreme, not mainstream.

Why were these intelligent, accomplished Republican leaders scrubbed from the broadcast?

When I was younger - I attended first Catholic School - then public.
I remember ( 45 years ago ) kids voluntarily NOT saying the morning prayers and also not saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
I did not agree even at that age...but respected their right. I do again today.
But even though I am a totally lapsed Catholic with no intention of returning there....I believe one of the things missing in this Country's soul is the presence of God in our lives.... let the States decide.
The Wisconsin congressman addressed the issue during a brief stop inside a Republican volunteer center in Provo, Utah. He was in the state to attend a fundraiser.
Asked by a volunteer whether he supported giving states the right to allow “prayer or pledge” in schools, Ryan said he did.
“That’s a constitutional issue of the states, moral responsibility of parents, education,” Ryan continued.

He came into the hall and wondered at our sanity for standing there waiting for Rudy. However, he was funny, kind to the kids there and generally very nice to all.
He later reappeared when Rudy was speaking - again, very pleasant...though very perplexed at our joy at seeing and listening to America's Mayor.
I think that look of confusion has since manifested itself intooutright Moonbattism.
However...he is STILL funny...just not in the way he intends, I'm sure.....
Guest John Heilemann, like an orderly in a mental institution trapped alone with a patient, played along, responding, “Well, there’s a lot of black people in Chicago” — while frantically jabbing at the alarm button.

As an obligatory follow-up to my post earlier today, it appears US Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren is steadfastly refusing to confirm or deny allegations she purposefully lied about her ethnic heritage in order to bolster her academic career. The Boston Herald reports:

The Assault on Paul Ryan II ....
Here’s the funny thing about most of these articles: They fail to cite a single fact that Ryan misstated or lie that he told. In most cases, the self-described fact-checks are little more than complaints that Ryan failed to provide context for his criticism of Barack Obama. For example, virtually every one of these articles included a complaint about Ryan’s comments on Obama and entitlement reform. In accusing Obama of failing to lead on entitlements, Ryan noted that Obama had ignored the findings of the Simpson-Bowles Commission that the president himself had empaneled. The complaint: Ryan did not mention that he had served on the commission and voted against its findings.
