Speaking at a rally held at a family farm about 20 miles outside Des Moines, Romney was telling the crowd a random story about how he had once mistakenly crashed a neighbor's Christmas party near his house in La Jolla, Calif., thinking it was the neighborhood's annual holiday party. He spoke about how kind people had been to him there, even though he and his wife, Ann, had intruded.

"I got to meet some really interesting people. One of them was a guy actually from my home state of Massachusetts--and relatively young guy compared to me," Romney said.

The company, Compact Power, was the recipient of $150 million taxpayer dollars and millions more in tax deferments and credits. Compact Power was supposed to be building thousands of batteries for the Chevy Volt here in America. Instead, they are furloughing workers before producing a single battery, Fox News reports. Not one.

US law enforcement bodies are already using drone technology to spy on Americans. In December last year, a Predator B drone was called in to conduct surveillance over a family farm in North Dakota as part of a SWAT raid on the Brossart family, who were suspects in the egregious crime of stealing six missing cows. Local police in this one area have already used the drone on two dozen occasions since June last year.

Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan ended an interview with a reporter from Flint's ABC News affiliate after the correspondent attempted to "stuff words" in his mouth.

Ryan, answering a series of questions about violence, guns and gun control laws, said the best thing to do is "help teach people good discipline and good character."

Last week a video of a President Barack Obama supporter in Ohio claiming to have received a free phone from the president—“[Obama] gave us a phone!”—went viral, prompting media outlets to investigate.

Since 1985 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has operated a program called Lifeline, originally designed to provide free landline phone service for low-income individuals. The government subsidizes telecommunications firms providing the service, and those firms also pass on costs to customers via the “Universal Service Charge” on their phone bills.

It might be that they assume that Governor Romney wants to keep the taxes from the Affordable Care Act in place, despite the fact that the Governor has called for its complete repeal. The main conclusion of my study is that under plausible assumptions, a proposal along the lines suggested by Governor Romney can both be revenue neutral and keep the net tax burden on taxpayers with incomes above $200,000 about the same.

Backlog of Veterans' Disability Claims Increases 179% Under Obama......

There is NO excuse for this. If you are going to use government hiring to pad the unemployment numbers...at least do it in a Dept. that really needs the help! A Dept. with people who above all deserve all the help and respect we can give them!

When Obama took office, there were approximately 390,000 outstanding claims, of which only 22 percent had been pending for more than 180 days.

That number had been falling during the second George W. Bush administration, despite the military being heavily engaged in two wars. At the beginning of Bush’s second term, the VA had about 480,000 outstanding claims, with only 21 percent backlogged for more than 180 days.

On the split screen, we saw the same expression of irritation -- as if he smelled something really bad -- as we did when he faced tough questions from Fox News' Bret Baier, when he had to listen to Paul Ryan demolish his health care plan at the Blair House summit, when he was probed on his broken immigration promise by interviewers on Univision.

The scale of cronyism at the federal level dwarfs that of the states. Sometimes Uncle Sam plays favorites with individual businesses, such as the $433 million no-bid contract given to a politically connected company last year for an unnecessary smallpox vaccine. Often it benefits entire industries, such as the protection of the sugar industry through quotas and tariffs — policies that increase the price of sugar for all Americans. Always, it’s the ordinary taxpayer who ends up picking up the tab.

No, he didn’t commit to tackling the tens of trillions in unfunded liabilities to Medicare and Social Security. He declined to confront the ballooning cost of all the welfare programs. The only thing he wanted to discuss was eliminating a few tax credits for oil companies and corporate jets.

Windfall: Obama Raises $181 Million, Only Around 2% of Donations Reportable......

The campaign said that just over 1.8 million people made donations to the campaign last month. According to the campaign, over 500k of these were brand-new donors, having neither given in 2008 nor 2012. 98% of contributions were under the reporting threshold of $250. Of these, the average contribution was $53.

Its really a tale of two worlds. 35k people gave an average of $2,600, while just over 1.7 million people gave an average of $53. Half the campaign's haul came from people giving around the maximum amount and half from people who don't have to be disclosed. Seems a bit odd.

According to the Washington Examiner, “a taxpayer watchdog group conducted a nine-month investigation” and uncovered “thousands of cases of credit card solicitations and donations” to the Obama campaign. Many of those donations have allegedly come from overseas and may be in violation of federal election laws.

National outlets are preparing stories on the matter, and the Obama campaign has been trying to block those stories from being published.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's office released a statement Thursday that attributed a quote to presidential candidate Mitt Romney seemingly harmful for voters' perceptions of his immigration policy. However, Governor Romney said the exact opposite.

We Can't Afford Four More Years ....

During last night's debate, we saw the clear choice facing voters in this campaign. President Obama can't defend his record and has no new ideas to run on. Mitt Romney clearly demonstrated that he is a leader who will create jobs, turn around our economy, and work across the aisle. We can't afford four more years like the last four years.

The Tax Credit for Outsourcing Is Fiction .....

This is not too different from the “subsidies” for “Big Oil” that Democrats are always on about. There is some oil-industry favoritism in the law (in the tax code and elsewhere) but most of those “Big Oil” handouts are wide-ranging manufacturing tax credits and similar measures intended to encourage heavy industry in the United States. As with the Stabenow bill, the campaign allegedly intent on removing these favors would in fact simply exclude certain kinds of companies from exercising benefits normally available to most other businesses. It’s basically a bill of attainder against the oil industry.

Punishing businesses for making business decisions politicians do not like is banana-republic stuff; Barack Obama and his congressional allies should be ashamed of it.

What is Economic Patriotism?....

 Traditional patriotism is defined as demonstrated love, support, defense and sacrifice for one's country and loyalty to that country. Obama's progressive patriotism is defined as the feelings, emotions and dreams someone has about his country. Traditional patriotism is an expression of moral certainty and actions, while progressive patriotism is an expression of relativism and feelings. Both versions claim they express love for past, present and future countrymen.

Traditional patriotism claims there is right and wrong behavior, as defined by society, to demonstrate patriotism. This means putting the country first, before ideology, political factions, and personal ambition. Many Obama supporters consider this view of patriotism a relic of the past.

Univision's report was better than nothing and did validate evidence uncovered by online journalist/bloggers who have been working hard to get the story out. Will the network's graphic images of the bloody Fast and Furious corpses, many of them children, be enough to rouse the major networks out of their stupor enough to follow the evidence into the Oval Office where the gun walking operation most likely started?

When she released her list of clients prior to Monday's debate, Warren left off two of the clients Jacobson uncovered, Dow Chemical, and Owens Corning.

Dow and Owens Corning are involved in a joint venture called Dow-Corning which made breast implants. In 1997 Dow-Corning offered to settle with breast implant patients, who claimed that the silicone implants caused amongst other things Breast Cancer.

VA: Military absentee ballots going AWOL in 2012 .....

A 92 percent drop in absentee-ballot requests by military personnel in Virginia is raising concerns that the Pentagon is failing to carry out a federal voting law.

With only 1,746 military voters in Virginia requesting absentee ballots so far this year — out of 126,251 service members in the state —the Military Voter Protection Project says the system has broken down.

And it’s not just in the Old Dominion. MVPP Executive Director Eric Eversole reports significant declines in absentee-ballot requests by service members across the nation.

From the video clips, it’s difficult to discern what’s going on. I downloaded C-SPAN’s footage of the rally and took a look at the audio. In the disputed portions of the clip, I minimized the crowd’s cheers and boosted the audio in order to get a better look at the chants. Though it is still difficult to discern what the crowd is chanting, I hear both “Ryan!” and “Romney!” It seems to me that Romney was trying to unify these chants into “Romney, Ryan!” It also seems that MSNBC was wrong in claiming that the crowd was chanting “Ryan!”

Univision report connects Operation Fast and Furious scandal to murders of Mexican teenagers.....

The Spanish language television news network Univision unleashed a bombshell investigative report on Operation Fast and Furious Sunday evening, finding that in January 2010 drug cartel hit men slaughtered students with weapons the United States government allowed to flow to them across the Mexican border.

“On January 30, 2010, a commando of at least 20 hit men parked themselves outside a birthday party of high school and college students in Villas de Salvarcar, Ciudad Juarez,” according to a version of the Univision report in English, on the ABC News website.

Christie pointed to the Republican presidential nominee's performance in the primary debates, saying the debates will be an opportunity to speak with out being "filtered" or "spun" by Romney's critics.

Professor Jacobson has uncovered this morning a case in which Elizabeth Warren entered an appearance in a federal appellate court as a representative of a Massachusetts client in a case that appears to have clearly implicated Massachusetts law. Although this is still a federal appellate court, because we're dealing with a Massachusetts client and issues of Massachusetts law, this looks really, really bad for Professor Warren. With this bombshell, I would no longer view the case against her as weak.
