U.S. troop funds diverted to pet projects - Washington Times:
Senators diverted $2.6 billion in funds in a defense spending bill to pet projects largely at the expense of accounts that pay for fuel, ammunition and training for U.S. troops, including those fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to an analysis.
Among the 778 such projects, known as earmarks, packed into the bill: $25 million for a new World War II museum at the University of New Orleans and $20 million to launch an educational institute named after the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat."

Watching Washington policymakers in action, I sometimes think they make mistakes because of unrealistic goals, flawed thinking, blind obedience to party or dubious information. And sometimes I think they make mistakes because they are -- how to put this? -- clinically insane.
There is no other way to explain what is going on at the Federal Housing Administration, which provides federal guarantees for home mortgages. Given the collapse in real estate prices, the weak economy and the epidemic of foreclosures, banks are acting with more caution than before. They now commonly require home buyers to make down payments of 20 percent to qualify for a loan. But the FHA often requires only 3.5 percent."

Far more worthy of attention, before it’s too late, are the new mile-deep spending regimes governments are preparing to cover the cost of new climate change policies. In January 2004, George Soros proclaimed to the world, 'I have made rejection of the Bush doctrine the central project of my life.' To which he added, 'America, under Bush, is a danger to the world. And I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is.' Soros then waged a nearly one-wallet war against Bush, put more than $25 million of his own cash into Kerry's election bid and came out of the whole gambit with a tattered I-Voted-for-the-other-guy t-shirt."
The Senate reform fraud
The Senate reform fraud:
THE Senate Finance Committee yesterday voted on a fraud: Sen. Max Baucus' 're sponsible' health-reform bill is actually a recipe for fiscal disaster -- and the Congressional Budget Office report that supposedly bolstered the bill actually exposes it.
As others have noted, Baucus used all manner of budgetary gimmicks to oblige the CBO to give him the headlines he needed -- a supposed pricetag of 'just' $829 billion over 10 years, with enough other spending cuts and tax hikes to avoid adding to the federal deficit. But the CBO exposed the truth by taking the rare step of calculating what the bill would cost in its second 10 years."

Bipartisan legislation known as the 'Read the Bill' resolution would amend the rules of the House of Representatives to require the Internet posting of all nonemergency legislation for 72 hours before it can be considered on the House floor. This is not only necessary; it is common sense."

State-Run Media Scum Smear Rush Using Fabricated Quotes
It's ABOUT TIME someone slugged back over erroneous sound bites!!!
State-Run Media Scum Smear Rush Using Fabricated Quotes:
RUSH: Folks, also, I don't know what to do today. I really don't know what to do. The audio sound bite roster is, again, 95% about me. The reason for my indecision here is that -- well, I've talked to you about this before. People lob attacks at you and when you respond to them they think, a-ha, we've hit home runs here. There's so many outrageous, fabricated lies. There is a genuine full-fledged smear campaign being orchestrated by liberal sportswriters and picked up by other liberals in the State-Controlled Media that it's breathtaking."

Take down American Flags on American soil because they might offend somebody.....WHAT????
Apartment residents told to take down U.S. flags:
ALBANY, Ore. - At the Oaks Apartments in Albany, the management can fly their own flag advertising one and two bedroom apartments - but residents have been told they can't fly any flags at all.
Jim Clausen flies the American flag from the back of his motorcycle. He has a son in the military heading back to Iraq, and the flag - he said - is his way of showing support.
'This flag stands for all those people,' said Clausen, an Oaks Apartment resident. 'It stands for the people that can no longer stand - who died in wars. That's why I fly this flag.'"

Glenn Beck - Interviews - Vince Flynn - Pursuit of Honor:
GLENN: From high above Times Square, third most listened to show in all of America. Hello, you sick twisted freak. Welcome to the program. The one, the only Vince Flynn is here. Hey, Vince, how are you?
FLYNN: Now that you've risen to the status of superstar, you are now protected by a cocoon of glass.
GLENN: Yes, I am. You cannot enter my space.
FLYNN: I can't come within 20 feet of you."

American Thinker: Talkers fill GOP leadership vacuum
American Thinker: Talkers fill GOP leadership vacuum:
The Old Media are in a breathless tizzy over Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and other conservative talk show hosts. These high-profile voices of the Right speak to ever-larger audiences. They provide a logical and devastating criticism of the leftist agenda of the Obama Administration on a daily basis. So, Old Media asks: Are these conservative talkers the new leaders of the Republican Party?
The answer is yes, by default."

When the BBC finally ‘fessed up last week to the Global Warming Fraud -- without admitting how much they aided and abetted the scam over ten years or more -- a liberal gent I know was shocked. He had sort of gritted his teeth and tolerated my skepticism over the years, but he never wanted to judge the whole fraudulent business for himself, although he had plenty of qualifications to do so. But this fraud was obvious. You had to want to close your eyes not to see it. I say that with all appreciation to the scientists and bloggers like Anthony Watt, who doggedly did the hard work of double-checking the fraud."

American Thinker: How to take down a great power
American Thinker: How to take down a great power:
Unlike Augustus or Caligula, Lucius Aurelius Commodus was not an emperor who made a strong impression on modern consciousness. Until the release of the film Gladiator, a heavily fictionalized version of his reign, most Americans had never heard of him. In the film he comes across as quite a compelling figure thanks to a first-rate portrayal by Joaquin Phoenix."

CHRIS MATTHEWS: You guys see Live and Let Die, the great Bond film with Yaphet Kotto as the bad guy, Mr. Big? In the end they jam a big CO2 pellet in his face and he blew up. I have to tell you, Rush Limbaugh is looking more and more like Mr. Big, and at some point somebodys going to jam a CO2 pellet into his head and hes going to explode like a giant blimp. That day may come. Not yet. But well be there to watch. I think hes Mr. Big, I think Yaphet Kotto. Are you watching, Rush?"

Apparently a Less-Warm Planet Requires Loads of Pork, Red Tape, and Union Favoritism:
An Associated Press story last week related 'good news' about expected heating costs this winter: namely, it will cost people less to heat their homes this year, according to the Energy Information Administration. To read the story, one would think that the government considers that to be good news, too.
Under a cap-and-trade regime, however, this same news would be considered calamitous. By the government, that is – consumers would, of course, remain consistent in their opinion that higher energy costs are bad news and lower costs, good. Making energy more expensive is what the whole cap-and-trade scheme depends on."

MarketWatch First Take: Obama fails to win Nobel prize in economics - MarketWatch:
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- In a decision as shocking as Friday's surprise peace prize win, President Obama failed to win the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences Monday.
While few observers think Obama has done anything for world peace in the nearly nine months he's been in office, the same clearly can't be said for economics.
The president has worked tirelessly since even before his inauguration to wrest control of the U.S. economy from failed free markets, and the evil CEOs who profit from them, and to turn it over to wise, fair and benevolent bureaucrats."

The White House and the health insurance industry on Monday descended into open conflict on the eve of a critical Senate vote that could determine the fortunes of Barack Obama’s healthcare reform plans.
Supporters of President Obama accused the health insurance industry of attempted “sabotage” after it issued a report by PwC, which estimated that premiums would rise much faster under the proposed reforms than they would have done otherwise."
