Obama: Mistakes? Can't think of any. | Byron York | Beltway Confidential | Washington Examiner

Seven years ago, in April 2004, President George W. Bush held a formal news conference in which he was asked, 'What would your biggest mistake be…and what lessons have you learned from it?' Bush's hemming and hawing answer -- in several minutes of flailing about, he never managed to come up with a single mistake to cite -- was widely criticized in the days that followed."

Twitter Power: Mock the MSM and Watch Them Launch Phony Attacks against Sarah Palin - Big Government

Liberals attack Paul Ryan because his father died young, resulting in survivor benefits | Hans Bader | Beltway Confidential | Washington Examiner

Attacking the Palin's youngest...using a Father's young death as cannon fodder....this is so typical....
My Dad had a tough life as he got older...he was finally put on SSI when he hit his late fifties. It saved his life. It also allowed my Mom to survive with my younger brother at home. My younger brother got some form of benefit for a few years. Again, it kept my Mom's household alive. I thank god for it.
I also know Ryan isn't going directly after this. I also know my brother went on to "Pay it back" when he pent the next 20 years in the Air Force. This is what "help" is for. Temporary help...not a "way of life".
It would be such a delight if the media would actually REPORT ACTUAL NEWS AND FACTS....Just once! However....maybe that wouldn't be a good idea because probably half the world would be struck dead with heart attacks if they saw REAL reporting!

At the age of 16, Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., suffered the death of his 55-year-old father. Because of his father’s early death, the government made survivor payments for a few years to Paul Ryan’s family – including for Paul Ryan himself. Ryan collected benefits for two years, until he turned 18."

U.S. households are now getting more in cash handouts from the government than they are paying in taxes for the first time since the Great Depression.

Michigan: Police Search Cell Phones During Traffic Stops

This seems a tad dangerous unless there are some strict guidelines and FOI boundaries in place....

The Michigan State Police have a high-tech mobile forensics device that can be used to extract information from cell phones belonging to motorists stopped for minor traffic violations. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Michigan last Wednesday demanded that state officials stop stonewalling freedom of information requests for information on the program.

ACLU learned that the police had acquired the cell phone scanning devices and in August 2008 filed an official request for records on the program, including logs of how the devices were used. The state police responded by saying they would provide the information only in return for a payment of $544,680. The ACLU found the charge outrageous."

AFP: GM stock lower amid report of quick govt sale

A report that the US government plans to sell off much of its remaining stake in General Motors this year despite the firm's lackluster share price caused investors to flee the stock Tuesday.

After the Wall Street Journal reported a government sale could come within the next six months, GM's shares fell by nearly 1.3 percent to end at $29.59.

The government sale would 'almost certainly' mean that US taxpayers would take a loss from a politically controversial $50 billion rescue of the auto giant in 2009, according to the paper."

DeMint: No More Debt Without A Balanced Budget Amendment - HUMAN EVENTS

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner has been telling interviewers that Republican leaders “offered private assurances to the White House that they ultimately would vote to raise the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling, regardless of whether a deal is reached on long-term spending cuts,” as Fox News reported.

This has prompted considerable anger from some of those Republican leaders. Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin was quick to deny any such deal had been made. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky has been adamant that he won’t vote to raise the debt ceiling unless a balanced budget amendment is part of the deal, and might even support a filibuster to keep the debt ceiling in place.."

Could Your Shotgun Soon be Outlawed? Maybe, If the ATF Has Its Way | The Blaze

Watch out for this behind the scene maneuvering!

Obama Deficit Plan | White House releases misleading figures for families ahead of Obama's deficit tour | The Daily Caller - Breaking News, Opinion, Research, and Entertainment

White House officials have unveiled a taxpayers’ “Federal Tax Receipt” website to goose publicity for a week of presidential speeches on the deficit, but the online receipt hides the president’s deficit spending and conceals the growing national debt.

The site, for example, shows that a family of three earning $50,000 in 2010 paid only $19 for interest on the national debt. But interest payments actually cost the nation $197 billion in 2010, according to the Congressional Budget Office. That’s roughly $657 per person, or $1,971 for a family of three, or 104 times what the White House website shows."

Barack Obama’s Arrogant Marxist Rhetoric | FrontPage Magazine

So far, the analysis of President Obama’s deficit speech has focused largely on its vagaries, obfuscations, and outright lies. Charles Krauthammer rightly blasted Obama’s speech as “shallow … hyper-partisan … intellectually dishonest.” He cited Obama’s “numbers suspended in mid-air with nothing under them with all kinds of goals and guidelines and triggers that mean nothing.” Krauthammer wasn’t alone – many commentators ranging from David Limbaugh to Larry Kudlow have targeted Obama’s woefully un-mathematical statistics, his fiscal magical thinking, and his utter inability to move to the center with regard to deficit reduction."

Afghanistan 'death squad' killings fail to get media, political attention - Washington Times

However.....just imagine if you will....this "Death" squad was happening under the Administration of GWB.......Yeah....exactly.

Reports of a U.S. “death squad” in Afghanistan, complete with the publication of gory photographs, have failed to attract the intense political or media attention afforded a previous war scandal — the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib.

In 2004, CBS News broadcast an array of photographs showing American jail guards abusing Iraqi detainees. The most famous: a forced pyramid of naked, humiliated prisoners. The depictions touched off an avalanche of media coverage. In Congress, liberals called for the resignation of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. Democrats launched inquiries and held a string of well-covered hearings."

As millions of procrastinators scramble to meet Monday's tax filing deadline, ponder this: The super rich pay a lot less taxes than they did a couple of decades ago, and nearly half of U.S. households pay no income taxes at all.
