EPA Admits Cap and Trade Won’t Work

InsiderOnline – Blog Archive – Policy Ideas for Advancing Liberty: "'With China and India recently issuing statements of defiant opposition to mandatory emissions controls, acting alone through the job-killing Waxman-Markey bill would impose severe economic burdens on American consumers, businesses, and families, all without any impact on climate.'"

The Flawed Logic of The Cap-and-Trade Debate by Ted Nordhaus and Michael Shellenberger: Yale Environment 360: "The Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade legislation represents the final absurd expression of the failed pollution paradigm that has defined climate policy for over a decade. The long obsession with pollution caps, targets, and timetables has produced legislation that, in the name of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2020, will allow regulated industries to emit as much as a third more carbon in 2012 than they did in 2005 and close to 10 percent more in 2020."

Obama Hopes To Save Dying Healthcare Bill

Obama Hopes To Save Dying Healthcare Bill: "Yesterday's (not too shocking) revelation from the CBO, that the bill would end up costing the government, not saving it money, seems to have really demoralized dems, who had been arguing that fiscal prudence and expanded coverage could go hand in hand.

Then today, Rasmussen came out with a poll suggesting that the majority of the public opposed the creation of a public plan."

House Democrats muzzle GOP on sensitive issues

Hope! Change! Bi-Partisanship! Transparency!.....Really? Sounds alot like the same ol' Washington to me.....

House Democrats muzzle GOP on sensitive issues:

WASHINGTON (AP) - In their zeal to protect their members from politically hazardous votes on issues such as gay marriage and gun control, Democrats running the House of Representatives are taking extraordinary steps to muzzle Republicans in this summer's debates on spending bills.

On Thursday, for example, Republicans had hoped to force debates on abortion, school vouchers and medical marijuana, as well as gay marriage and gun control, as part of House consideration of the federal government's contribution to the District of Columbia's city budget.

No way, Democrats said."

We ARE going bankrupt!!!

Director’s Blog Blog Archive The Long-Term Budget Outlook:

Today I had the opportunity to testify before the Senate Budget Committee about CBO’s most recent analysis of the long-term budget outlook.

Under current law, the federal budget is on an unsustainable path, because federal debt will continue to grow much faster than the economy over the long run. Although great uncertainty surrounds long-term fiscal projections, rising costs for health care and the aging of the population will cause federal spending to increase rapidly under any plausible scenario for current law."

RealClearPolitics - The 'Public Option' Health Care Scam

RealClearPolitics - The 'Public Option' Health Care Scam:

Some statements are inherently unbelievable. Such as: 'I am an official of the government of Nigeria, and I would like to deposit $60 million in your bank account.' Or: 'I'm Barry Bonds, and I thought it was flaxseed oil.' And this new one: 'I'm Barack Obama, and I favor more competition in health insurance.'

That, however, is the claim behind his support of a government-run health insurance plan to give consumers one more choice. The president says a 'public option' would improve the functioning of the market because it would 'force the insurance companies to compete and keep them honest.'"

So what's a president to do when the promises he made about his economic stimulus program fail to materialize? If you're Barack Obama, you redefine your goals and act as if America won't remember what you said originally. That's a neat trick if you can get away with it, but Mr. Obama won't. His words are a matter of public record and he will be held to them.

When it came to the stimulus package, the president and his administration promised, in the words of National Economic Director Larry Summers, 'You'll see the effects begin almost immediately.' Now it's clear that those promised jobs and growth haven't materialized."

Newsmax.com - Stimulus Demands Will Doom Obama:

Now President Barack Obama says in The Washington Post that he never envisioned that his stimulus package would afford quick relief to the American economy, but would do so only after it had run its two-year course. But when it was passed, Obama sang a different tune, urgently demanding its enactment to speed relief to a sagging economy. He claimed it would 'create or save' 600,000 jobs. Now, even as the economy loses 450,000 jobs each month, he pretends that it is a matter of time until the stimulus kicks in."

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The nation's largest group of atheists and agnostics filed a lawsuit Tuesday seeking to block an architect from engraving 'In God We Trust' and the Pledge of Allegiance at the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington.

The Madison-based Freedom From Religion Foundation's lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in western Wisconsin, claims the taxpayer-funded engravings would be an unconstitutional endorsement of religion.

Newsmax.com - Obama Health Plan Ups Taxes to Pre-Reagan Levels

And this is just the beginning....

Newsmax.com - Obama Health Plan Ups Taxes to Pre-Reagan Levels:

WASHINGTON -- House Democrats scrambling for ways to pay for overhauling health care would raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans to levels not seen since the 1980s, breaking one of President Barack Obama's campaign pledges.

The tax increase would be limited to the top 1.2 percent of earners _ families that make more than $350,000 a year. But it would raise a total of $544 billion over the next decade, covering a little more than half the cost of the health care plan.

The bill unveiled by House Democratic leaders Tuesday would create three new tax brackets for high earners, with a top rate of 45 percent for families making more than $1 million. That would be the highest income tax rate since 1986, when the top rate was 50 percent."

Hoyer Says Small Businesses Don't Make $280,000 Per Year So They Won't Be Hurt by Democrats' Planned $540-Billion Tax Hike: In contrast... Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.)--a doctor by trade--said that in a recession any type of tax increase was “unconscionable,” especially given that the Bush-era tax cuts are set to expire next year.

“Many of these small businesses file [taxes] as subchapter-S or ‘sole proprietors’,” said Gingrey. “They’re paying at the same individual tax rate which, once President Obama lets the Bush tax cuts expire in 2011 and they add on this surcharge, you’re talking about a marginal rate of up to 42 percent or higher.”

“That’s going to hit right on the backs of many of the small businessmen and women in this country who create most of the jobs,” said Gingrey. “To put this [tax increase] on the back of that is absolutely unconscionable.”"

Massachusetts Sued Over Cost of Health Care - NYTimes.com:

BOSTON — A hospital that serves thousands of indigent Massachusetts residents sued the state on Wednesday, charging that its costly universal health care law is forcing the hospital to cover too much of the expense of caring for the poor.

The hospital, Boston Medical Center, faces a $38 million deficit for the fiscal year ending in September, its first loss in five years. The suit says the hospital will lose more than $100 million next year because the state has lowered Medicaid reimbursement rates and stopped paying Boston Medical “reasonable costs” for treating other poor patients."

House Bill Makes Private Medical Insurance Illegal

When we first saw the paragraph Tuesday, just after the 1,018-page document was released, we thought we surely must be misreading it. So we sought help from the House Ways and Means Committee.
It turns out we were right: The provision would indeed outlaw individual private coverage. Under the Orwellian header of "Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage," the "Limitation On New Enrollment" section of the bill clearly states:
"Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day" of the year the legislation becomes law.

Dem Health Care Plan Made Simple

Obama Science Czar Called For “Planetary Regime” To Enforce Totalitarian Population Control Measures

Obama Science Advisor Called For “Planetary Regime” To Enforce Totalitarian Population Control Measures: "President Obama’s top science and technology advisor John P. Holdren co-authored a 1977 book in which he advocated the formation of a “planetary regime” that would use a “global police force” to enforce totalitarian measures of population control, including forced abortions, mass sterilization programs conducted via the food and water supply, as well as mandatory bodily implants that would prevent couples from having children.
The concepts outlined in Holdren’s 1977 book Ecoscience, which he co-authored with close colleagues Paul Ehrlich and Anne Ehrlich, were so shocking that a February 2009 Front Page Magazine story on the subject was largely dismissed as being outlandish because people couldn’t bring themselves to believe that it could be true.
It was only when another Internet blog obtained the book and posted screenshots that the awful truth about what Holdren had actually committed to paper actually began to sink in."

But it won't be. The leading members of the media work for the very corporations that benefit most from this process. Establishment journalists are integral and well-rewarded members of the same system and thus cannot and will not see it as inherently corrupt (instead, as Newsweek's Evan Thomas said, their role, as 'members of the ruling class,' is to 'prop up the existing order, protect traditional institutions and safeguard the status quo'). House Plans to Tax Millionaires to Fund U.S. Health-Care Plan - Bloomberg.com

The Ants go marching one by one - Hurrah -Hurrah! The ants go marching one by one.....over a cliff....
We listen to this insanity and we march off a cliff like lemmings. Are THEY going to get Universal Health Care..... NNNnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....just we great un-washed masses...
OK....so, as a Small Business Owner....
1.) I spend and have spent approx. $54000.00 a year until last Fall on Health Care for my employees. Last year it went up over $65000.00 for the same thing and in this economy.....something had to give...
2.) We just got it back thanks to alot of searching, Fallon health working with us - and taking big cuts in coverage....
3.) Now you introduce Universal "Free" Health care to take care of the 40 million you say have none....( never mention the 250 million who do....do ya????).
4.) My "Wealthy" Suppliers who are buckling under the weight of the economy - these un-funded mandates and un-checked competition from Asia...will just pass that cost to me...
5.) I'm balancing the company on the head of a pin now.....in addition to the $50000.00 we are paying...I'll get hit with increases across the board ( that I can't add into my product because of CHINA! ) as well as being penalized an additional 8% for existing as a company...
6.) This doesn't even take into account the possible doubling of our electric bills due to Cap and Trade...That would make our Electric Costs - and this is after we damn near work by candlelight to cut costs...go from approx. $45000.00 a year to ....oh....rough guess.....$65000.00 and up....and up.....and up...because you KNOW they haven't even read the bill and NEVER figure out that pesky law of unintended consequences...That pesky little voice that keeps trying to tell you this Health Care bill will NOT work any better than Canada and/or the UK.....and Cap and Trade is just a hidden tax....even the environmental wacko's snicker at the premise it "helps the environment"...

I ask...why would I even stay in business......I already don't get paid often to keep things going.....after Obama is done...I'll be paying the company every week for the "honor" of serving the "Greater Good"...you know...."My Fair Share".....

Use your head.....we aren't this stupid....we KNOW better.......don't believe ANY of them for a second.....

House bill would make health care a right

Don't believe for a MINUTE the cost will only fall on the medical field, employers and "wealthy"......it trickles down...When have any of us ever seen Washington correctly project the cost of ANYTHING? They first said under a Trillion (TRILLION!?!?!) for Universal Health Care ( which this will be ANYTHING BUT! )
Now they "estimate" 1.4 TRILLION (TRILLION??? What;s next - a Bazillion???) for this Health Care Debacle....that's in the matter of a few weeks!!!!!!!!
What happens when it becomes LAW???

My Way News - House bill would make health care a right:

WASHINGTON (AP) - House Democratic leaders, pledging to meet the president's goal of health care legislation before their August break, are offering a $1.5 trillion plan that for the first time would make health care a right and a responsibility for all Americans. We are STILL "We the People"...this is our country....we MUST assert our rights and say SLOW DOWN to the Obama Administration.
The only reason the are pushing to get things through so fast is that "the devil is in the details". If more people find out what disaster's lie within page god-knows-what, Amendment who-knows....they'd rise in shock!

Obama Rewrites the Cold War - WSJ.com

Obama Rewrites the Cold War - WSJ.com: "The White House ought to take a lesson from President Harry Truman. In April, 1950, Truman signed National Security Council report 68 (NSC-68). One of the foundational documents of America's Cold War strategy, NSC-68 explains the danger of disarming America in the hope of appeasing our enemies. 'No people in history,' it reads, 'have preserved their freedom who thought that by not being strong enough to protect themselves they might prove inoffensive to their enemies.' [our italics]

Perhaps Mr. Obama thinks he is making America inoffensive to our enemies. In reality, he is emboldening them and weakening us. America can be disarmed literally -- by cutting our weapons systems and our defensive capabilities -- as Mr. Obama has agreed to do. We can also be disarmed morally by a president who spreads false narratives about our history or who accepts, even if by his silence, our enemies' lies about us."

The American Spectator : The Little Scandal That Could

The American Spectator : The Little Scandal That Could:

We're not there yet,' one Democratic source on Capitol Hill said last week, when asked about the prospect for hearings on the Obama administration's firing of AmeriCorps inspector general Gerald Walpin. Congressional investigators are still conducting interviews in the case, so the question of whether to 'pull the trigger' on a full-blown inquiry -- with subpoenas for witnesses to testify under oath at committee hearings -- has yet to be decided."

The American Spectator : Health Care Overhaul Threatens States

Obama stated yesterday that NO MATTER WHAT he will have this bill by August. They are ramming it through. They are running on the theory that doing something even badly is better than nothing at all.....
STOP THIS!!! I don't even HAVE Health Care right now in Massachusetts - "the jewel of the debate" on Universal Health Care because it COSTS TOO MUCH FOR OUR BUSINESS TO HANDLE NOW.....what happens when it's "Free"!?!?!?!?!?!?! Because you KNOW it won't be free to you or I....when government says "free"....it means WE pay for it. YOU AND I......No such thing as a free lunch....

The American Spectator : Health Care Overhaul Threatens States:

Even as California struggles with a catastrophic fiscal crisis and other states scramble to avoid the same fate, Democrats in Washington are proposing health care measures that would add hundreds of billions of dollars of spending to state budgets."

American Thinker: Baseball, Hotdogs, Apple Pie and... Obama?

American Thinker: Baseball, Hotdogs, Apple Pie and... Obama?:

Is nothing sacred to Team Obama? ( Hhhhuuummmm, I'd say that is a rhetorical question!?!?!) Does the most anti-American president in the country's history have to turn everything we true blooded Americans hold dear into The Obama Show 24/7? Wasn't Chevrolet enough? Does the POTUS who built an indoor basketball court in the White House now have to take over Major League Baseball as well? Apparently the answer to all four questions is a resounding 'Yes' (as in 'Yes We Can', because 'I won')."

American Thinker: Will Dems allow Goldman to manipulate a cap-and-trade market?

Again and again it is revealed that Cap and Trade is nothing more than a money making scheme perpetrated by our "fearless leaders". It will be done so on the back of all taxpayers AND at the expense of Small Business!!! WAKE UP!!!

American Thinker: Will Dems allow Goldman to manipulate a cap-and-trade market?:

Goldman Sachs, the Wall Street leviathan that is heavily invested in the cap-and-trade carbon market scam, has admitted it has developed and used software that can manipulate such financial markets.

The revelation came during proceedings in a legal case with enough plot twists to make even John Grisham proud; it was made, not by Goldman, but by an assistant U.S. Attorney."

The Small Business Surtax - WSJ.com

The Small Business Surtax - WSJ.com: "Jason Furman owes an apology to Michael Boskin, the Stanford economist who wrote a year ago on these pages that Barack Obama would raise American income tax rates nearly to 60%. Mr. Furman, then in the Obama campaign and now at the White House, claimed this was wrong and that Democrats would merely raise taxes back to their Clinton-era level.

House Democrats are now proving that Mr. Boskin had it right, and before it's over even he may have underestimated how high taxes will go."

The Economy Is Even Worse Than You Think - WSJ.com

The Economy Is Even Worse Than You Think - WSJ.com: "The recent unemployment numbers have undermined confidence that we might be nearing the bottom of the recession. What we can see on the surface is disconcerting enough, but the inside numbers are just as bad... The cumulative job losses over the last six months have been greater than for any other half year period since World War II, including the military demobilization after the war. The job losses are also now equal to the net job gains over the previous nine years, making this the only recession since the Great Depression to wipe out all job growth from the previous expansion." The Culture Wars' New Front: U.S. History Classes in Texas - WSJ.com: "Three reviewers, appointed by social conservatives, have recommended revamping the K-12 curriculum to emphasize the roles of the Bible, the Christian faith and the civic virtue of religion in the study of American history. Two of them want to remove or de-emphasize references to several historical figures who have become liberal icons, such as Cesar Chavez and Thurgood Marshall."

The Massachusetts Health Mess - WSJ.com

The Massachusetts Health Mess - WSJ.com: "In a rational world, the prognosis for ObamaCare would wait on the evidence in Massachusetts, given that the commonwealth's 2006 program closely resembles what Democrats are trying to do in Washington. If the results were widely known, it might be dead on arrival."

Rush Limbaugh Comments on Sarah Palin's Resignation

Rush Limbaugh Comments on Sarah Palin's Resignation:

"RUSH: This is Rush. I’m on a golf vacation, parts unknown, all week long. Six cities, six courses, starting today. On this Palin business, you know, one of the reasons I haven’t said anything to anybody is I don’t know what this means – and I think all of this is just speculation. We don’t know what her reasons for doing this are yet. The speculation here and the predictions here rival some of the irresponsibility I saw with people speculating on the cause of death of Michael Jackson when nobody knew – and we still don’t know with Michael Jackson. We think we do but we don’t. We haven’t had an official autopsy report."

George Will

George Will: Ready for higher Taxes???

Economic policy, which became startling when Washington began buying automobile companies, has become surreal now that disappointment with the results of the second stimulus is stirring talk about the need for a … second stimulus. Elsewhere, it requires centuries to bleach mankind's memory; in Washington, 17 months suffices: In February 2008, President George W. Bush and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who normally were at daggers drawn, agreed that a $168 billion stimulus — this was Stimulus I — would be the 'booster shot' the economy needed. Unemployment then was 4.8 percent."

Boxer faces 'challenge of a lifetime' on climate change bill - Yahoo! News:

WASHINGTON — If the Senate doesn't pass a bill to cut global warming, Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer says, there will be dire results: droughts, floods, fires, loss of species, damage to agriculture, worsening air pollution and more.

She says there's a huge upside, however, if the Senate does act: millions of clean-energy jobs, reduced reliance on foreign oil and less pollution for the nation's children."

Maybe Lawmakers should read what they are voting on

Once again I say to America - you GET what you DESERVE! We keep electing these clowns into Office. We keep handing over our sacred TRUST - and this is what they do with it...
Are we not yet tired of being treated like the bug on the windshield?...

American Thinker Blog: Jacoby: Maybe Lawmakers should read what they are voting on:

Boston Globe columnist Jeff Jacoby highlights a phenomenon that has made Congress something of a laughingstock in recent months.

According to Steny Hoyer, lawmakers should refrain from reading what they are to vote on:

At a news conference last week, he was talking about the healthcare overhaul being drafted on Capitol Hill, and a reporter asked whether he would support a pledge committing members of Congress to read the bill before voting on it, and to make the full text of the legislation available to the public online for 72 hours before the vote takes place"

Punishing Google for Its Success

The Ayn Rand Center for Individual Rights: Punishing Google for Its Success: "The Obama administration’s Department of Justice recently announced that it will dramatically increase enforcement of antitrust laws against successful, dominant companies who allegedly harm competition by wielding too much “market power.” What sorts of companies? Experts agree that the first targets might include one of America’s most beloved. “This will be bad news for heavyweights in the tech industries,” a leading scholar told the New York Times, “companies like Google.”"

The Climate Change Showdown: Dealmaking Begins Anew with Bill in U.S. Senate | GreenBiz.com

The Climate Change Showdown: Dealmaking Begins Anew with Bill in U.S. Senate: "President Obama promised during his campaign last year to auction 100 percent of cap-and-trade 'allowances' -- permits for every ton of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. The sale of these allowances to polluters was slated to fund the largest investment in renewable energy in history. The president has backed away from that commitment, and these allowances have become a new currency with which members of Congress barter for support." [our italics]

Climate plan's backers have tougher audience in Senate

Climate plan's backers have tougher audience in Senate: "Senate supporters of a bill that for the first time would put limits on U.S. greenhouse gas emissions have launched an intense one-on-one effort to sound out their colleagues' views in hopes of winning their support.

It's by no means clear that they will succeed, however."

We've got to address medical labor costs

We've got to address medical labor costs "...We can continue to obfuscate and pretend that the solution to America's health care financing conundrum is complicated. It is not. There are only two options for reducing labor costs and redirecting health care services. Neither option is under consideration.

The first option is a government-controlled single-payer system. Such a system can effectively exercise power in setting payment rates for providers and dictate who is eligible for which services. The fragmented system contemplated in the various reform options before Congress cannot accomplish either. Current political realities negate this option as being feasible.

The second option is to empower the consumer to discipline costs and redirect care. Just ask airline pilots who now earn half or less their pre-deregulation salaries about the disruptive and dislocating influence informed consumers have exerted on over-priced labor costs within their industry."

The Conversation: Is health care cost debate focused on wrong issues?

The Conversation: Is health care cost debate focused on wrong issues? "As the nation debates competing plans to overhaul our health care system, critics from President Barack Obama on down seem to see the growing proportion of the gross national product spent on health care as an apocalyptic, unsustainable trend. Their suggestions for fixes range from electronic medical records and reduced pay for specialists to a single-payer national health insurance.
But none of those things will solve the problem of ever-increasing health care costs."

Record numbers seek permits to carry weapons

Record numbers seek permits to carry concealed weapons - Kansas City Star: "Across the Kansas City area, record numbers of people like Poynter are applying for permits to carry concealed weapons. The surge reflects the fears of rising crime in a down economy and concerns that the election of President Barack Obama might bring new limits on gun rights.

Clay County has seen the biggest increase.

From Jan. 1 through the end of May, 801 Clay County residents applied for permits to carry a concealed weapon — compared with 863 in all of 2008."

Rise in county gun sales tied to fewer cops, what Obama might do - Sacramento News - Local and Breaking Sacramento News | Sacramento Bee: "From November 2008 to May 2009, gun dealers in Sacramento County sold nearly 5,000 more guns than they did in the same period last year, an increase of 40 percent, statistics from the state Bureau of Firearms show.

The state increase in gun sales averaged 32 percent.

Sacramento County gun owners, advocates and store owners largely attribute the boom to fear."

Sotomayor backers urge reporters to probe New Haven firefighter | McClatchy

Sotomayor backers urge reporters to probe New Haven firefighter: "The 35-year-old Ricci was the lead plaintiff in the case Ricci v. DeStefano, challenging New Haven's refusal to promote white firefighters after African-American and all but one Hispanic firefighters failed to score high enough on a promotion exam.

Sotomayor and a majority of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the city's claim that it was justifiably concerned about a potential civil rights suit being filed by the African-American firefighters.

Last month, however, the Supreme Court overturned the 2nd Circuit by 5-4.

Hayden says Congress was informed

AP Interview: Hayden says Congress was informed: "Former CIA Director Gen. Michael Hayden angrily struck back Saturday at assertions the Bush administration's post-9/11 surveillance program was more far-reaching than imagined and was largely concealed from congressional overseers.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Hayden maintained that top members of Congress were kept well-informed all along the way, notwithstanding protests from some that they were kept in the dark."

Chips in official IDs raise privacy fears

My Way News - Chips in official IDs raise privacy fears: "Climbing into his Volvo, outfitted with a Matrics antenna and a Motorola reader he'd bought on eBay for $190, Chris Paget cruised the streets of San Francisco with this objective: To read the identity cards of strangers, wirelessly, without ever leaving his car.
It took him 20 minutes to strike hacker's gold.
Zipping past Fisherman's Wharf, his scanner downloaded to his laptop the unique serial numbers of two pedestrians' electronic U.S. passport cards embedded with radio frequency identification, or RFID, tags. Within an hour, he'd 'skimmed' four more of the new, microchipped PASS cards from a distance of 20 feet."

Rhode Island challenges federal ban by authorizing cultivation and sale of cannabis

The Little State That Says To Washington: 'Yes We Cannabis!'

"...Rhode Island legislators, only two years after passage of the original medical cannabis laws, recognized that a self-preservation model is inadequate to serve the needs of sick, dying or sense-threatened patients who need whole-smoked cannabis and edibles. Again, in full opposition to the Governor and federal agencies, the legislature overrode a second veto to establish Rhode Island as the first bona fide state to legally sanction and license third parties to cultivate and sell cannabis (in the case of Rhode Island, the recent medical cannabis legislation has provided initial approval to three medical cannabis wellness centers for the entire state)."
