American Thinker: The Debt Death Sprial

American Thinker: The Debt Death Sprial:

America's economy faces a miserable future, according to an important government report. The media collectively have yawned, and official Washington has barely blinked. The Government Accountability Office recently issued its report to the Congress on the long-term fiscal outlook for the United States. It is a bleak picture. The report opens:"

American Thinker: Death, Taxes and Two Trillion Lies:

President Obama promised not to raise taxes on people earning less than $200,000 per year and vowed not to increase the national debt 'by one nickel.' He promised that his nearly-trillion-dollar stimulus plan would keep the unemployment rate below 8%. (Last month, our unemployment rate was 9.8%, the highest it's been in 26 years.)"

American Thinker Blog: Real 2009 Budget Deficit: $1,785,603,936,384.06:

The recent publicly announced Federal Budget Deficit for 2009 is widely reported to be $1.4 trillion.

This figure is inaccurate. Why? Because the Government made an 'accounting change'.

The real deficit is easily determined.

Thanks to a convenient web page maintained by the Treasury Department, you can access the National Debt data for any day, or range of days."

Obama offers millions in Muslim technology fund:

The White House Friday highlighted a new multi-million-dollar technology fund for Muslim nations, following a pledge made by President Barack Obama in his landmark speech to the Islamic world.

The White House said the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) had issued a call for proposals for the fund, which will provide financing of between 25 and 150 million dollars for selected projects and funds."

Cheney: Stop 'dithering' over Afghanistan - CBS News:

Former Vice President Dick Cheney on Wednesday night accused the White House of dithering over the strategy for the war in Afghanistan and urged President Barack Obama to 'do what it takes to win.'

'Make no mistake. Signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries,' Cheney said while accepting an award from a conservative national security group, the Center for Security Policy."

Peggy Noonan: It's His Rubble Now - WSJ.com:

At a certain point, a president must own a presidency. For George W. Bush that point came eight months in, when 9/11 happened. From that point on, the presidency—all his decisions, all the credit and blame for them—was his. The American people didn't hold him responsible for what led up to 9/11, but they held him responsible for everything after it. This is part of the reason the image of him standing on the rubble of the twin towers, bullhorn in hand, on Sept.14, 2001, became an iconic one. It said: I'm owning it."

Copenhagen is about to become the successor to Kyoto as the synonym for the U.N.'s plan to control climate change. The 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the U.N. Until this meeting ends, expect to hear a growing number of climate-related horror stories, presented by a wide array of so-called environmentalists, at a rising decibel level that's sure to drive the sane quite mad."

In explanation for her 'yes' vote on the Max Baucus created health care bill, Maine Senator Olympia Snowe said:

'Is this bill all that I would want? Far from it. Is it all that it can be? No. But when history calls, history calls.'

Senator Snowe is probably right. History is calling. What she has wrong is history's message. History is calling with the warning that tyranny is at our doorstep."

My goodness...congressional backbone exists???? Be still my heart!

American Thinker: The Congressional Scam that Failed:

A funny thing happened on the way to one of the biggest scam attempts in history. It got ratted out. And Capitol Hill got an earful.

So the U.S. Senate failed by seven votes to invoke cloture on Wednesday and push forward a bill that even had Washington Post editorialists gagging on its duplicity. Thirteen Democrats joined all 40 Republicans to reject 47-53 a free-standing Medicare bill, S. 1776, that would have pushed up the national deficit by a quarter of a trillion dollars over the next 10 years."

American Thinker: Gardasil Shows Why Government Health Care is Dangerous

American Thinker: Gardasil Shows Why Government Health Care is Dangerous:

Gardasil has to be the perfect drug for the brave new world of ObamaCare, in a 1984 kind of way. Made by Merck & Co., it was approved in 2006 for use against venereal disease in young girls. Here's why it's so culturally suited for hope and change -- and such a perfect example of why you don't want the government in your medicine chest:

1) Gardasil has owed most of its success to the fact that government agencies have been subsidizing its sales, recommending its use, and even talking about requiring it"

American Thinker: 45,000 uninsured deaths?:

As many Americans die needlessly under government-managed health care each year as folks who supposedly die from lack of health insurance.

Yet Democrats, and their media sock puppets, have shamelessly exploited highly questionable estimates of uninsured deaths as agitprop to shoehorn the entire population into just such a government-run health care system -- on steroids."

UPDATE 4-U.S. FCC commissioners support open Internet rule | Deals | Regulatory News | Reuters:

Regulators voted unanimously Thursday to support an open Internet rule that would prevent telecom network operators from barring or blocking content based on the revenue it generates.

The proposed rule now goes to the public for comment until Jan. 14, after which the Federal Communications Commissions will review the feedback and possibly seek more comment. A final rule is not expected until the spring of next year."

The American Spectator : The Bad Road to Baucus:

Without any idea what it is doing, Congress is about to pulverize the American medical system, put the health insurance companies out of business, and set the federal budget on a runaway course that may end up wrecking the entire economy.

So if you'd like to know why all this is happening, here's a brief review:"

My Way News - Dems eye insurance industry's antitrust protection:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Top Senate Democrats intend to try to strip the health insurance industry of its exemption from federal antitrust laws, according to congressional officials, the latest evidence of a deepening struggle over President Barack Obama's effort to overhaul the health care industry.

If enacted, the switch would mean greater federal regulation for an industry that recently has stepped up its criticism of portions of a health care bill moving toward the Senate floor."

The Oath Keepers’ motto is “Not on our watch!”

Last March Stewart Rhodes realized it’s up to every American to step up and shout “No” to Barack Obama’s plans to socialize and destroy our nation. As a lawyer and Army paratrooper who has taken oaths to “defend and support” our Constitution Rhodes knew what he had to do.

He founded Oath Keepers and asked other men and women who have taken an oath to support and defend our Constitution to step forward with him."

American Thinker: U.S. sovereignty and the Climate Summit:

Not content with his humiliation at Copenhagen this past September, President Obama will be traveling again to the Danish capital in December to attend the U.N. COP15 Climate Change Conference. American Thinker: Rush should make CNN an offer it can't refuse:

CNN just keeps embarrassing itself. Oddly enough, Rush Limbaugh could help them out, while doing himself a little good at the same time.

Following close on its much-derided ‘fact checking' of an SNL skit poking fun at President Obama, and the humiliating pat-on-the-head it got as an Obama administration-certified legitimate news organization, CNN has now queried a psychiatrist as to why folks listen to conservative talk radio, especially Rush Limbaugh. CNN's Carol Costello interviewed psychiatrist Gail Saltz. (Video courtesy of Breitbart. Watch it!)"

American Thinker: Media Matters & President Obama in Lockstep:

Revival of right-wing conspiracy charges are all the rage in the age of Obama, but liberals are just playing the same old shell game. The real action is on the left, with lockstep collusion by the President with Soros-funded Media Matters.

While the President sends his surrogates onto national network programs to decry Fox News, Media Matters is behind the scenes working its Fight Fox campaign."

American Thinker: Compulsory insurance -- another Trojan Horse

American Thinker: Compulsory insurance -- another Trojan Horse:

Bookies are making bets on whether some version of ObamaCare will pass this year, but with five bills floating around, there is no betting on what it will look like.

The threat of a 'public option' has generated the hottest protest with voters understanding that the unfair competition of a government plan will quickly destroy the private health insurance system. By contrast some conservatives have expressed support for Senate Finance Committee proposal requiring that everyone must purchase insurance. After all, they reason, isn't it just a matter of fairness to expect everyone to bear responsibility for their own care?"

CNN Political Ticker: Gregg: U.S. could be on path to a ‘banana republic’ situation:

WASHINGTON (CNN) – A leading fiscal mind on Capitol Hill and a one-time Obama Cabinet pick sounded the alarm Sunday over the projected long-term financial challenges the country faces.

“This deficit is driven by us,” New Hampshire Republican Sen. Judd Gregg candidly said Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union when asked about the federal government’s projected $1.42 trillion operating deficit for the 2009 fiscal year.

“You talk about systemic risk. The systemic risk today is the Congress of the United States,“ the Ranking Republican on the Senate Budget Committee told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King, “that we’re creating these massive debts which we’re passing on to our children. We’re going to undermine fundamentally the quality of life for our children by doing this.”"

The Associated Press: Analysis: Courting doctors in health care battle:

WASHINGTON — In the special interest war over health care, the White House and congressional Democrats have the nation's drug makers and hospitals generally on their side; the insurance industry, not so much.

Now the bill's supporters are making a play to lock in the American Medical Association, the organization that says it represents 250,000 doctors and medical students in every state and congressional district. The principal enticement, a $247 billion measure making its way to the Senate floor, aims to wipe out a scheduled 21 percent rate cut for doctors treating Medicare patients and replace it with a permanent, predictable system for future fee increases."
