American Thinker: The spark that has triggered rebellion

American Thinker: The spark that has triggered rebellion:

I'm as Mad as Hell, and I'm Not Gonna Take This Anymore!'

This sentiment is being voiced by protesters turning out for Tea Parties and Health Care Town Hall Meetings around the country. People are angry and frightened by the prospect of government running their health care system, but their anger goes far beyond a 1000 page health bill.

Health care reform is merely the spark that has touched off a prairie fire of grassroots rebellion among a people who believe their representatives do not represent them, do not listen to them and do not care what they think."

American Thinker: Why I am no longer an African American

American Thinker: Why I am no longer an African American:

The Obama election was a milestone in our country's history. Blacks danced in the streets, talked about feelings of finally being able to feel at home in America, and cried for the cameras. But as a black woman in the Age of Obama, I don't see anything that reveals that Blacks in America have anything to celebrate. I grew up in the Deep South during the 1960's, so I'm quite aware of the issues our country faced at that time."

Cass Sunstein: Regulating America to death:

Animals should be allowed to sue their owners.

~ Cass Sunstein

Because people ascribe a degree of respectability to academics, intellectuals, philosophers and scholars, they can disregard the rights of the people much easier than a naked tyrant. In fact, Rousseau, Darwin and Nietzsche can go places Hitler, Stalin, Chavez and Obama could never dream.

As I have written many times, the Obama administration are the masters of misdirection and chaos theory; therefore, while the America people last week were transfixed on the resignation of 'Green Czar' Van Jones, another even more dangerous fascist from the academy quietly slipped through the portals of power."

Is America coming apart?

Is America coming apart?:

Flying home from London, where the subject of formal debate on the 70th anniversary of World War II had been whether Winston Churchill was a liability or asset to the Free World, one arrives in the middle of a far more acrimonious national debate right here in the United States.

At issue: Should Barack Obama be allowed to address tens of millions of American children, inside their classrooms, during school hours?"

Glenn Beck: Never Forget:

GLENN: It is September 11th, 2009. A National Day of Remembrance. A day that we need to ask ourselves, who are we, where have we been, what have we done, and where are we going. Two days ago I went to the top floor of the Fox building and I went up on the roof. All the radio studios are in a different building, and I look right at the Empire State building. But my view of where the World Trade Centers used to be is blocked by a new building."

Obama sets stage for using budget maneuver to pass health reform - TheHill.com

It isn't about PARTY - it's about US people!!!

Obama sets stage for using budget maneuver to pass health reform - TheHill.com:

President Barack Obama this week has been laying the foundation for Senate Democrats to use a controversial budget maneuver to pass healthcare reform.

By offering Republicans olive branches during his address to Congress on Wednesday, Obama has set up a win-win situation. If GOP lawmakers embrace compromise, a healthcare bill would pass Congress easily. But the more likely scenario is that Republicans will continue to oppose Obama’s plan, and the president later this fall will be able to note he tried to strike a deal with the GOP but could not."

Pundits called Dems' reaction during Bush address "unprecedented," but Republicans booed Clinton | Media Matters for America:

Media figures have falsely claimed that Democrats' audible disapproval of President Bush's misleading claim in his February 2 State of the Union address that Social Security will be 'exhausted and bankrupt' in 2042 was 'unprecedented.' In fact, Republicans routinely booed and hissed during President Clinton's State of the Union addresses."

Mark Mix: Read the Union Health-Care Label - WSJ.com:

In the heated debates on health-care reform, not enough attention is being paid to the huge financial windfalls ObamaCare will dole out to unions—or to the provisions in the various bills in Congress that will help bring about the forced unionization of the health-care industry.

Tucked away in thousands of pages of complex new rules, regulations and mandates are special privileges and giveaways that could have devastating consequences for the health-care sector and the American economy at large."

Daniel Henninger: It’s Still the Economy, Stupid - WSJ.com:

It's been a long time since James Carville said the most famous thing he ever said: It's the economy, stupid. That famous phrase was in fact part of a sign hung in the Clinton campaign headquarters in 1992. There was a sense among the electorate in the fall of 1992, not entirely accurate, that the economy was foundering under George H.W. Bush. Bush lost control of the public's perception of the economy, and then he lost the presidency."

Sarah Palin: Obama and the Bureaucratization of Health Care - WSJ.com:

Writing in the New York Times last month, President Barack Obama asked that Americans 'talk with one another, and not over one another' as our health-care debate moves forward.

I couldn't agree more. Let's engage the other side's arguments, and let's allow Americans to decide for themselves whether the Democrats' health-care proposals should become governing law.

Some 45 years ago Ronald Reagan said that 'no one in this country should be denied medical care because of a lack of funds.' Each of us knows that we have an obligation to care for the old, the young and the sick. We stand strongest when we stand with the weakest among u"

What did they do last night after we got off the air? Last night when I went off the air, I said on the air, I believe Cass Sunstein is probably the most dangerous czar out there, but I had hope because we had three senators standing up against his confirmation because this guy is not actually a czar."

Glenn Beck - Current Events & Politics - Glenn Beck: Why Obama's Speech Doesn't Matter:

Everyone is talking about health care today and the president's speech tonight.

I don't even need to watch the speech.

Why? Because here's The One Thing: While everyone else is talking about the health care bill and the games of health care reform, let me sum up the speech this way: It doesn't matter."

House Health Care Bill Will Hurt Small Businesses: A Reply to My Critics

House Health Care Bill Will Hurt Small Businesses: A Reply to My Critics:

On August 28, Igor Volsky, a health care researcher and blogger at the Center for American Progress, posted a story claiming The Heritage Foundation released a biased report on the effects of the employer play-or-pay mandates contained in the health care bills currently working their way through Congress.[1] Sadly, it is Volsky who is misleading policymakers.

Myth: 'The four health care bills before Congress require large employers to either provide coverage to their workers or pay a tax to finance the expansion of health care coverage.'

Fact: Many small businesses are large enough to qualify under the bills."

“Fees” Are Taxes and New Taxes Are Not the Answer The Foundry

“Fees” Are Taxes and New Taxes Are Not the Answer The Foundry:

According to a New York Times story on Sunday, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) plans to propose a new “fee” on insurance companies to help pay for a costly liberal health reform package. This “fee” would allow Congress to penalize their straw man du jour, insurance companies, while attempting to pay for part of one of the trillion dollar proposals being debated in Congress this week. However, these “fees” are nothing more than taxes hidden behind a thin veil of “fairness” rhetoric. They would actually fall on ordinary Americans, not insurance executives or stockholders."

The American Spectator : The Audacity of Refusing to Be Stampeded Into Obamacare:

The poet Gerald Manley Hopkins disposed of a rival by saying that he spoke with 'the air and spirit of a man bouncing up from a table with his mouth full of bread and cheese' -- saying that he will stand no more 'blasted nonsense.'

In the same spirit, President Barack Obama bounced up from the table where he supped with organized labor over Labor Day and declared that he would stand no more blasted nonsense on the issue of health care. In a dramatic display of presidential impatience (deploying the rhetorical devise of anaphora, or repetition of a phrase at the beginning of successive sentences), he said:"

With the President, members of Congress, and key stakeholders seeking aggressive reforms to slow spending growth while improving value, a group of 10 health care policy experts today released a set of concrete, feasible steps that could achieve this goal. The plan, “Bending the Curve: Effective Steps to Address Long-Term Health Care Spending Growth,” focuses on reducing the growth of health care spending, while also improving quality."

The American Spectator : Solving Healthcare Through Verbosity

The American Spectator : Solving Healthcare Through Verbosity:

I've finally figured out what it is about liberals. They speak a different language. It's a language not even meant to be understood by ordinary human beings but only by those in the know.

Let me tell you how I arrived at this. I read David Brooks' column in the New York Times last week -- he hasn't completely succumbed to the Grey Lady yet -- and Brooks suggested that anyone who wanted to 'get fundamental' about healthcare should read a report called 'Bending the Curve: Effective Steps to Address Long-Term Health Care Spending Growth,' just put out by the Brookings Institution."

American Thinker: Give Me Liberty... or Give Me Health Care?

American Thinker: Give Me Liberty... or Give Me Health Care?:

Much has been made in the recent weeks and months about the French health care system, which was ranked first by the World Health Organization (WHO), as a model for US health care reform. The French system spends considerably more (11% of GDP) than the single-payer systems of Canada and the UK but considerably less than the US (16% of GDP). The French system has been described as one that avoids rationing; where doctors have freedom to prescribe whatever treatment and order whatever tests they want; and where a resident of France gets whatever service he or she desires, regardless of ability to pay."

American Thinker: Who is the 'we' who 'spend too much' on elder care?

American Thinker: Who is the 'we' who 'spend too much' on elder care?:

The Left is terribly concerned that 'we' are spending too much money on keeping people alive as they get older. But Ted Kennedy didn't seem to mind that 'we' provided state-of-the-art cancer care for him, presumably through his wonderful insurance as a US Senator; I have yet to hear of a single 'Man or Woman of the Left' -- as they like to dub themselves -- who would object to healthy (and wealthy) aging for themselves. I don't see George Soros checking out the suicide clinics in Holland. I don't hear any eagerness to cut short Jimmy Carter's lifelong support for bloody-minded Islamofascists; but Mr. Carter is 85 already."

Editorial - Once and Future Taxes - NYTimes.com:

So far, the Obama administration’s plan for dealing with the budget deficit — an estimated $9 trillion over a decade — is to not dig the hole any deeper. That’s an important first step. President Obama deserves credit for proposing ways to pay for his two big initiatives to date: health care reform and energy legislation. Reducing the growth in health care costs, in particular, is vital to curbing future deficits."

Charles Krauthammer - Obama's Magic Evaporates in the Heat of the Health-Reform Debate

Charles Krauthammer - Obama's Magic Evaporates in the Heat of the Health-Reform Debate:

What happened to President Obama? His wax wings having melted, he is the man who fell to earth. What happened to bring his popularity down further than that of any new president in polling history save Gerald Ford (post-Nixon pardon)?

The conventional wisdom is that Obama made a tactical mistake by farming out his agenda to Congress and allowing himself to be pulled left by the doctrinaire liberals of the Democratic congressional leadership. But the idea of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi pulling Obama left is quite ridiculous. Where do you think he came from, this friend of Chvista ex-terrorist William Ayers, of PLO apologist Rashid Khalidi, of racialist inciter Jeremiah Wright?"
