Anchorage Magistrate Colleen Ray granted Palin, 46, and Palin’s friend, Kristan Cole, 48, 20-day protective orders against Shawn Christy, who allegedly sent the women receipts from a gun purchase, along with a letter saying “he tried to follow the bible but had evil and wickedness in him.”
Palin and Cole have requested long-term protective orders. A hearing on their requests is scheduled for 10 a.m., Oct. 13, before Anchorage Master John E. Duggan. Craig Christy said they plan to participate in the hearing by phone and plan to contest the court orders."

NEW YORK (AFP) – Caterpillar, the world's largest manufacturer of construction equipment, will build a factory in China to produce mini hydraulic excavators, the company said in a statement.
Construction will begin in Wujiang, near Shanghai, at the end of 2010 and the facility should be ready in 2012 to begin production of mini excavators of less than eight tons, the company said Tuesday.
Caterpillar did not say how much the project will cost.
It is part of a long-term plan for investments in China that will make Caterpillar one of the leading manufacturers of construction equipment in the country."

UNITED NATIONS, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Czech President Vaclav Klaus on Saturday criticized U.N. calls for increased 'global governance' of the world's economy, saying the world body should leave that role to national governments.
The solution to dealing with the global economic crisis, Klaus told the U.N. General Assembly, did not lie in 'creating new governmental and supranational agencies, or in aiming at global governance of the world economy.'"

NEW YORK (AP) - President Barack Obama's $30 billion small community business lending program faces one big challenge: many of the community banks and businesses it's supposed to help don't want it.
The lending program is part of a bill that passed the House of Representatives on Thursday and now awaits the president's signature. The legislation contains a mix of tax cuts and credits aimed at helping small businesses. The centerpiece of the bill is an effort to make billions of dollars available to community banks for loans to small businesses."

These are the maps that show the racial breakdown of America’s biggest cities.
Using information from the latest U.S. census results, the maps show the extent to which America has blended together the races in the nation’s 40 largest cities.
With one dot equalling 25 people, digital cartographer Eric Fischer then colour-coded them based on race, with whites represented by pink, blacks by blue, Hispanic by orange and Asians by green.
The resulting maps may not represent what many might expect Barack Obama’s integrated rainbow nation to look like, as many cities have clear racial dividing lines."
