Giuliani leads feisty Brown rally in North End - Local News Updates - The Boston Globe:

A feisty crowd of several hundred shouted 'Rudy, Rudy' and 'Go, Scott, Go' this morning in the North End as former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani campaigned for surging Republican Scott Brown in his bid for US Senate.

Another chant from the throng declared, 'The liberals are going! The liberals are going!' and a sign read, 'It's our turn for a change.' Giuliani fired up the crowd by recalling his stump work on the victorious Republican campaigns of former governors William Weld, Paul Cellucci, and Mitt Romney."

Coakley vs Brown – Another Shot Heard ‘Round The World? | Conservative American News:

I cannot help but think that the special election between Martha Coakley and Scott Brown for Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat, may be viewed as the second time in American history that Massachusetts fires the shot heard ’round the world. Not much more than a week ago, it was almost unthinkable that Brown could pull this off in a traditionally deep blue, heavily Democrat state."

Outline of deal on Cadillac plans - Live Pulse - POLITICO.com

You don't belong to a Union...you get killed. With the expense of Insurance...a Regular plan is creeping up to their "Cadillac" Plan threshold. So...either join a Union ( Hummmmmm...could that be one of the underlying thoughts...) or WAKE UP and VOTE!
This is no longer about Health reform...it's about who can negotiate the best "deal"....

Outline of deal on Cadillac plans - Live Pulse - POLITICO.com:

Labor leaders have scheduled a conference call for 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Here are the outlines of what they will announce, according to a source familiar with the agreement:

— The threshold will be raised to $24,000 for family plans, $8,900 for individuals

— The tax won't kick in until Jan. 1, 2018, for some collective bargaining agreements, and state and local government workers.

— There would be further increases to the threshold for plans with older workers and women, which would benefit unions with a high proportion of female membership."

American Thinker: Ideological Rationalization of the Senate:

Blanche Lincoln is in deep trouble. Harry Reid is, too. Byron Dorgan, facing deep reelection problems, has simply given up his Senate seat. Ben Nelson may well do that in the 2012 election cycle. Mary Landrieu is feeling some heat. All of these senators well ought to be in trouble. Others like Pryor in Arkansas, Tester in Montana, and Conrad in North Dakota should be in big trouble, too, in coming elections."

Obama keeps his distance from Mass. race - Washington Times:

Coming off stinging election losses in Virginia and New Jersey -- not to mention Copenhagen, where he failed to win the 2018 Olympics for his hometown of Chicago -- President Obama is staying away from what could become another painful loss.

Even though the campaign of Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley has been making quiet entreaties, the president has no plans to visit her in the last week of the special election to fill the Senate seat once held by the late Edward M. Kennedy."

While I am all for safeguards...does anyone up there understand how this would impact Small Business lending - thus..."Job Creation"...or in the Obamanomics lexicon..."Jobs saved or Jobs created"...?

My Way News - AP source: Obama seeking tax on biggest banks:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Mindful of soaring deficits and an anti-Wall Street mood, President Barack Obama wants a new 10-year tax on the country's largest banks to cover a projected $117 billion shortfall in the government's financial crisis bailout fund.

The president planned to propose Thursday a levy of 15 basis points, or 0.15 percent, on the liabilities of large financial institutions to make sure every dollar spent from the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program to rescue Wall Street firms, auto companies and mortgage holders is either repaid or paid for. Congress would have to approve the tax."

Joe Biden update: He meets on transparency today. But the meeting is closed | Top of the Ticket | Los Angeles Times:

Everybody should just relax and take it easy.

Unsubstantiated rumors that Vice President Joe Biden had suddenly gone a little loopy and ordered some of his official meetings opened to at least cursory public or media attention were just that -- unsubstantiated rumors.

After a recent public sighting, fears had mounted that the one-time, long-term senator might rebel against traditional White House strictures and start acting on all the administration's oft-promised promises of government transparency and official openness running back into 2008.

But the VP's public schedule today puts all those fears to rest."

Scott Brown: “It’s the People’s Seat!”

Scott Brown: “It’s the People’s Seat!”:

When liberal pundit and CNN commentator, David Gergen, recently asked Scott Brown if he intended on sitting in the late Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat, and blocking the “health-care” Kennedy fought for, Brown replied, ““Well, with all due respect, it’s not the Kennedys’ seat, and it’s not the Democrats’ seat, it’s the people’s seat.”"

Seating Mass. Senate winner could be delayed

MARK MY WORDS....If Scott Brown is elected - there WILL be a delay - if Coakley is elected - it will be RUSHED through!

Seating Mass. Senate winner could be delayed:

BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts's top election official says it could take weeks to certify the results of the upcoming U.S. Senate special election. That delay could let President Barack Obama preserve a key 60th vote for his health care overhaul even if the Republican who has vowed to kill it wins Democrat Edward M. Kennedy's former seat."

American Thinker: The Second Boston Tea Party?:

The Democrat leftism of Massachusetts is legendary. When Nixon ran against McGovern in 1972, McGovern lost every state of the union...except Massachusetts. The Reagan Landslide in 1984 is the only time in the last fifty years when Massachusetts voted for a Republican presidential candidate. Last year, Obama won Massachusetts by a whopping 61.8% of the vote, about nine percentage points more than his national average."

In the Senatorial debate yesterday in Massachusetts, moderator David Gergen posed a question to Scott Brown, mentioning the 'Kennedy seat.' Brown immediately responded,

America slides deeper into depression as Wall Street revels - Telegraph:

The labour force contracted by 661,000. This did not show up in the headline jobless rate because so many Americans dropped out of the system. The broad U6 category of unemployment rose to 17.3pc. That is the one that matters.

Wall Street rallied. Bulls hope that weak jobs data will postpone monetary tightening: a silver lining in every catastrophe, or perhaps a further exhibit of market infantilism."

DAVID ROSE: The mini ice age starts here | Mail Online:

The bitter winter afflicting much of the Northern Hemisphere is only the start of a global trend towards cooler weather that is likely to last for 20 or 30 years, say some of the world’s most eminent climate scientists.

Their predictions – based on an analysis of natural cycles in water temperatures in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans – challenge some of the global warming orthodoxy’s most deeply cherished beliefs, such as the claim that the North Pole will be free of ice in

UPDATE 1-Devaluation ups stakes in Venezuela election year | Reuters:

CARACAS, Jan 9 (Reuters) - Venezuelans rushed to the shops on Saturday, fearful of price rises after a currency devaluation that will let President Hugo Chavez boost government spending ahead of an election but feeds opposition charges of economic mismanagement.
