AEP says it will close five coal plants to comply with EPA regs - The Hill's E2-Wire

Just what we need -less and now, thanks to the EA more expensive energy....Brilliant!

Utility giant American Electric Power said Thursday that it will shut down five coal-fired power plants and spend billions of dollars to comply with a series of pending Environmental Protection Agency regulations.

The company’s dramatic plan to comply with the regulations could give Republicans and moderate Democrats ammunition in their ongoing fight against EPA's efforts to impose new regulations aimed at limiting greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants including mercury and arsenic."

Obama's Undeclared War on America

Obama's undeclared War on America has been as intense, unrelenting, costly, and devastating as any undeclared war since Korea. Obama's carpet-bombing through taxes, regulations, energy policies, and pledging to do more of the same has paralyzed and bankrupted the nation, plunging it into a despondency not seen since eight decades ago."

Coal Regs Would Kill Jobs, Boost Energy Bills - Washington Whispers (usnews.com)

I'm pretty sure everyone in the Obama Administration wouldn't know a real job if it bit them in the ass. All they know how to do is shove money at problems and KILL jobs!

Two new EPA pollution regulations will slam the coal industry so hard that hundreds of thousands of jobs will be lost, and electric rates will skyrocket 11 percent to over 23 percent, according to a new study based on government data.

Overall, the rules aimed at making the air cleaner could cost the coal-fired power plant industry $180 billion, warns a trade group."

The Answer Sheet - Education Department buying 27 shotguns

I have to admit I was rather awed that the Dept. of Education could call a Swat Team down on an individual for non-payment of student loans?

Why is the Education Department purchasing 27 Remington Brand Model 870 police 12-gauge shotguns (all new, no re-manufactured products, thank you)?

The guns are to replace old firearms used by Education’s Office of Inspector General, which is the law enforcement arm of the department.

Here’s a statement from the office in response to a question about why need 27 shotguns with a 14-inch barrels:"

Cain: Gun control should be a “state’s decision”

Before anyone goes into full blown panic alert, I think Herman Cain may have just slipped up a bit during a rapid fire question session with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer last night. Given a chance to walk this back and clarify, his answer might not sound as bad. But, the man said what he said, so we should give it a full airing. Video and transcript follow, and the comments come at the 3 minute mark so you can fast forward."

Dirty Spending Secrets!!!

You HAVE to go to this website. If this doesn't wake you up ....there is no pulse! Bookmark this site!

Incredibly, Washington is spending $2.6 million training Chinese prostitutes to drink more responsibly on the job. This is the kind of wasteful spending that President Obama and Congress have stubbornly refused to cut. Instead, they planned to raise taxes on families and entrepreneurs by trillions of dollars! Only action by citizens like you will break the Washington liberals of this kind of frivolous splurging."

Kenneth Wright does not have a criminal record and he had no reason to believe a S.W.A.T team would be breaking down his door at 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

Wright came downstairs in his boxer shorts as a S.W.A.T team barged through his front door. Wright said an officer grabbed him by the neck and led him outside on his front lawn."

No more national anthem at pacifist Indiana college - 13 WTHR

I'm TIRED of everyone getting "offended" by "something".....LEAVE - GO ELSEWHERE if you think it's so bad. There are PLENTY of good folks who want to be here. Want the Flag, will respect what they have...not take it for granted. Will love their freedom instead of spit upon it.....I'm so damned tired of this.

A small northern Indiana college has decided to stop playing 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at sporting events after starting to do so for the first time last year.

Goshen College's board of directors says it will find an alternative that honors the country and the Mennonite Church-affiliated school's pacifist traditions."

Autos Insider | GM chief pushing for higher gas taxes | The Detroit News

These guys at the Government ATM Machine! How dare they-HOW DARE THEY. They get hand outs and then want more from US. Go to HELL!!!

General Motors Co. CEO Dan Akerson wants the federal gas tax boosted as much as $1 a gallon to nudge consumers toward more fuel-efficient cars, and he's confident the government will soon shed its remaining 26 percent stake in the once-bankrupt automaker.

'I actually think the government will be out this year — within the next 12 months, hopefully within the next six months,' Akerson said in a two-hour interview with The Detroit News last week."

Raising taxes on the rich lowers the government's revenues - Thomas Sowell - Washington Examiner

We could definitely use another Abraham Lincoln to emancipate us all from being slaves to words.

In the midst of a historic financial crisis of unprecedented government spending, and a national debt that outstrips even the debt accumulated by the reckless government spending of previous administrations, we are still enthralled by words and ignoring realities.

President Obama's constant talk about 'millionaires and billionaires' needing to pay higher taxes would be a bad joke, if the consequences were not so serious."

OK - Just What Is the Ryan Medicare Plan?

Much chatter today centers on the Ryan Medicare Plan, a proposal to reform Medicare first proposed by Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan as part of 'A Roadmap for America's Future' to guide the House Budget Committee under Republican Party control. Chronic unemployment worse than Great Depression - CBS Evening News - CBS News

There is an unfortunate adage for the unemployed: The longer folks are out of a job, the longer it takes them to find a new one.

CBS News correspondent Ben Tracy reports that the chronically unemployed face the hardest road back to recovery, and that while the jobs picture may be improving statistically on a national level, it is not for them.

Tinong Nwachan, for example, has far too much time on his hands. When CBS News met the former truck driver he had been out of work for two years."

Teacher Forces State Rep’s 8-Year-Old to Lobby Her Dad

Freshman Republican lawmaker Mike Stone says his daughter was “used against” him when a public school teacher instructed her and her classmates to contact elected officials in opposition to budget cuts.

The result: a hand-written note imploring Stone to “put the buget (sic) higher dad” so that her school wouldn’t have to forgo field trips, be unprepared for end-of-grade tests, and lay off teachers.

“The truth of the matter is, they baited my daughter on what to write,” said Stone, who represents Lee County in the North Carolina House. “It was totally inappropriate for an 8-year old to be used as a lobbyist in Raleigh.”"

Huntsman Not Ready for the Big Dance | RedState

Over the years I have heard presidential candidates state reasons for skipping the Iowa caucuses. It always leaves me wondering if those are the real reasons for not coming to Iowa. The most recent example of this is Jon Huntsman’s announcement that he won’t compete in Iowa. Apparently, Huntsman believes that he will not get a fair shake in Iowa because he opposes ethanol subsidies. In my opinion, this excuse seems to have as much credibility as “the dog ate my homework.”"

Big News From Camp Bachmann | RedState

This is big and significant news.

Rollins was Ronald Reagan’s campaign manager in 1984, a fact downplayed by a lot of people who think Reagan’s landslide in 1984 had nothing to do with Rollins.

Whether you are impressed by that or not, pay attention to the next one: Rollins took Mike Huckabee’s 2008 upstart campaign into overdrive and gave Romney, McCain, and the rest a run for their money."

Mitt Romney, the most recent entrant into the Republican primary field, is his loads of campaign cash. “We’ve got to beat Mitt Romney’s money, not Mitt Romney,” Cain said."
