Fact: Despite all of the claims by Barack Hussein Obama and his cadre of Socialists about 'creating or saving' jobs through their so-called 'stimulus plan,' their taxing revenue out of the private sector (from this and future generations) does NOT 'stimulate' private sector job growth -- quite the contrary. (Nor is there any expressed authority in our Constitution for such redistribution of wealth -- but who pays attention to that venerable old parchment?)"

If the Obama presidency didn't exist, we would have to invent it.

At a time when the American people need to make some decisions about the nation's purpose, along comes Barack Obama to make the choices crystal clear.

In one corner of the world you have Europe, beset by a sovereign debt crisis that's been building for 50 years. The U.K.'s new prime minister, David Cameron, promises his people years of austerity to dig out from beneath their debt. Americans, staring at fiscal crevasses opening across Europe, have to decide if they also wish to spend the next 50 years laboring mainly to produce tax revenue to pay for public workers' pensions and other public promises. The private sector would exist for the public sector."

Thursday morning at 12:01 a.m. local time, Arizona’s well publicized anti-illegal-immigration law will finally go into effect. Or at least parts of it will. U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton ruled today to block several provisions of the law that some consider controversial (even though these mimic federal law). However, the judge has allowed the remainder of the law to move forward as planned while the case is being litigated. This includes allowing the state of Arizona to stop rogue state officials from implementing “sanctuary city” policies, and allowing the state to pursue civil lawsuits over sanctuary cities. In addition, Arizona will still be permitted to implement the portion of the law that makes it a crime to pick up day laborers, an issue that law enforcement and officials say has become a major problem in the state."

John Kerry, Isabel, and the expiration of the Bush tax cuts | The Daily Caller :

Congressional Democrats don’t always legislate as though they understand human nature. In fact, legislation in theory often deviates from its practical implementation. Senator John Kerry’s recent attempt to avoid the high boat-use tax rates of the Bay State shows that when a legislative body aims to alleviate its fiscal morass by imposing ever-higher tax rates on its people they often only succeed in producing unintended consequences. Those advocating the expiration of the Bush tax cuts should take note."

Rangel’s Day of Reckoning | FrontPage Magazine:

When Representative Charles Rangel goes on trial on Thursday it might be the first time that a sitting United States congressman has done so since Jim Traficant was convicted of bribery, racketeering and tax evasion in 2002. Rangel and Traficant are kindred spirits of a sort, for each exhibits the kind of imperious arrogance that Americans loathe, especially when it bubbles to the surface among their elected officials. The difference between the two is that Traficant played a bit part among Democrats eight years ago and it was thus easy for the party to wash its hands of him. Rangel, on the other hand, is a stalwart among Democrats, a heavy hitter with strong ties to other heavy hitters, up to and including the Speaker of the House. If Rangel goes through with the trial – and he says he will – it will be a lot harder for Democrats to wish this scandal away than it was in 2002."

RealClearPolitics - Articles - Thomas Sowell:

Many of the wonderful-sounding ideas that have been tried as government policies have failed disastrously. Because so few people bother to study history, often the same ideas and policies have been tried again, either in another country or in the same country at a later time-- and with the same disastrous results.

One of the ideas that has proved to be almost impervious to evidence is the idea that wise and far-sighted people need to take control and plan economic and social policies so that there will be a rational and just order, rather than chaos resulting from things being allowed to take their own course. It sounds so logical and plausible that demanding hard evidence would seem almost like nit-picking.

In one form or another, this idea goes back at least as far as the French Revolution in the 18th century. As J.A. Schumpeter later wrote of that era, 'general well-being ought to have been the consequence,' but 'instead we find misery, shame and, at the end of it all, a stream of blood.'

The same could be said of the Bolshevik Revolution and other revolutions of the 20th century."

"'Why do they hate us?' It's a burning question on the minds of border-dwelling taxpayers, small-business owners, farmers, and Rocky Mountain oil and gas industry workers suffering under punitive Democrat policies. Eighteen months into the Barack Obama administration, the war on the American West is in full swing.

The first battlefront: immigration. On Wednesday, Senate Democrats rejected a GOP amendment banning the use of federal funds to participate in any litigation against the new Arizona immigration enforcement law."

Freedom of photography: Police, security often clamp down despite public right:

A few weeks ago, on his way to work, Matt Urick stopped to snap a few pictures of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's headquarters. He thought the building was ugly but might make for an interesting photo. The uniformed officer who ran up to him didn't agree. He told Urick he was not allowed to photograph federal buildings."

The American Spectator : Single-Payer or Bust

The American Spectator : Single-Payer or Bust:

LAS VEGAS -- The new national health care law may represent the largest expansion in the role of government since the Great Society, but for liberal activists, it was just the appetizer.

Here at the annual Netroots Nation conference for self-described progressives, organizers discussed their strategy for pushing toward their ultimate goal of a fully government-run, or single-payer, health care system.

To reach the promised land, they first have to protect the gains they've already made."

The American Spectator : Losing Amber

In my haste...in my daily rush to "save the day"....I rail against the insanity.....the unfairness everywhere....I can't wait for another day.
Instead...I should remember each morning....no matter what.....that each day is a gift....and thank God for it.

The American Spectator : Losing Amber:

About twenty years ago, more or less, when I first started spending time in North Idaho, I hired a young woman named Amber Coffman to be my son’s babysitter. She was a beautiful, kindly student at Sandpoint High School, as sweet hearted and attentive to our son Tommy as I could have wished.

She had violet blue eyes that just shone any time night or day. They were almost extraterrestrial."

The American Spectator : AmSpecBlog : Reid to Netroots: "We're Going To Have a Public Option"

The American Spectator : AmSpecBlog : Reid to Netroots: "We're Going To Have a Public Option":

LAS VEGAS -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, seeking to console liberal activists who were disappointed by the final version of the national health care law, assured them that there would eventually be a public option.

'We're going to have a public option,' Reid said. 'It's just a question of when.'

Reid's general comments reflected the same overall message to progressives that President Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi delivered earlier today. It essentially boils down to: We've done a lot of stuff, but we still have a lot of unfinished business, so campaign for us again."

When Cap and Trade Died | FrontPage Magazine

VERY good article regarding Cap and Trade....don't believe for a minute this thing is dead....

When Cap and Trade Died | FrontPage Magazine:

Last Thursday, Harry Reid glumly decided that cap and trade is dead, an announcement that conservatives celebrated, while reactions among environmentalists vacillated between depression and anger. While the abandonment of this economically crippling plan is important, it would be a mistake to believe that the end of cap and trade means that attempts to artificially limit fossil fuel use through government fiat in the United States are dead as well."
