Welcome to BlogPatriot

Who we are... who we're not... why it matters

BlogPatriot began quite simply: just a group of everyday people sharing links to various news articles and blog postings.  Collectively we found that the “mainstream media” often "buried" important information... and "spin" is the status quo. After a while, we decided to blog these items to share with others.

We are Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, Liberals and probably a few Libertarians thrown in for good measure! The opinions and articles found within BlogPatriot vary - but we are perhaps best described as representative of a mainstream moderate majority. Some to the right of center... some to the left... all advocating for common sense and moderation in government actions and spending.

Above all, we are Americans. We were raised to believe we have a right to free speech and a strong voice in our government. This is a legacy we intend to pass on to our children.

We were raised to believe the founding fathers created a stable and resilient government via the Constitution. When our elected leaders swear to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" - we expect them to do exactly that.

Recently, some of our writers participated in the Tea Parties. Contrary to mainstream spin, the Tea Parties were not organized by Fox News, FreedomWorks or any other large conservative organization. They continue to be organic gatherings - attended by voters of all persuasions, leanings... and ages: a natural development in the face of questionable actions at both the Federal and State levels. Don't be fooled into believing the media's notion that participants were malcontents simply complaining about taxes. A variety of government excesses brought people together.

This matters….

Politicians have long recognized the existence of a large majority of Americans who generally do not express their opinions publicly or via demonstrations. Perhaps they count on passive behavior in times like these?

In those rare times when the mainstream moderate majority is motivated to act, there is a grave concern about the state of the Union. We believe it is in the best interests of our politicians to pay attention. We will remember in November.

Other details...

We've been asked - and, no, we are in no way affiliated with ACORN or any other political or social organization. We are average Americans.

Our group consists of half dozen or so writers, and welcome others who would like to participate. Some bloggers are teams writing under a single name. In addition, links are sent to the moderator by other readers for posting.

Funding? T-shirt sales pay for the web site. We have a small selection online now, with more coming. (One of our members is a designer.)
