FT.com / China - US manufacturing crown slips
And they are surprised by this HOW? As a small manufacturer...I have so many unfunded mandates that have NOTHING to do with manufacturing my product.
Do they....NO!
Do we require even a slightly even playing field...NO!
All we ask is that the playing field get level....then let the best man ( or woman ) win! But when you are competing against companies that have no OSHA, Universal Health Care, Environmental mandate, Insurance, wage controls, pending Cap & Trade...etc....etc.......how CAN WE?
I don't begrudge any of these expenses ( well, that's somewhat shaded lie ) but at least I semi understand their worth. However when you compete against nations with none of this expense.....it's not competition, it's slaughter.
FT.com / China - US manufacturing crown slips:
The US remained the world’s biggest manufacturing nation by output last year, but is poised to relinquish this slot in 2011 to China – thus ending a 110-year run as the number one country in factory production.
The figures are revealed in a league table being published on Monday by IHS Global Insight, a US-based economics consultancy."
