The Democrats' Faulty Memory.....
But this is not Obama's problem, or at least it was not the problem during the first two years of Obama's term, when Democrats controlled the House of Representatives and had a nearly filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. During that period, Obama practically had carte blanche to do as he pleased, and what did he do? Bailouts and stimulus and health-care and -- more than anything else -- massive deficit spending.

Nancy Pelosi asks for $100K to fight 'smears' - Alex Isenstadt - POLITICO.com
Healthcare Reform has NOTHING to do with Party - it has everything to do with Ideology....a concept she wouldn't recognize if she fell over it. Passing reform that is no good is not a win for the "right" or "left"....it's a tragedy for us all. Is she so blinded by "winning" for "their" side....she and many on both sides have forgotten they are supposed to be on "OUR" side...
Nancy Pelosi asks for $100K to fight 'smears' - Alex Isenstadt - POLITICO.com:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has launched an urgent effort to raise $100,000 by Monday to help combat what she calls GOP 'smears' about health care reform.
'Republican opponents of reform are coming out with one outrageous smear after the next, all aimed at derailing our progress. We must be able to counter their special interest-funded attacks and set the record straight,' Pelosi wrote in a letter to Democratic supporters."

House orders up Three Elite Jets
I don't care if they order 100 new jets - however the hypocrisy just drips off these people.....we WILL remember in November....
House orders up Three Elite Jets
Last year, lawmakers excoriated the CEOs of the Big Three automakers for traveling to Washington, D.C., by private jet to attend a hearing about a possible bailout of their companies.
But apparently Congress is not philosophically averse to private air travel: At the end of July, the House approved nearly $200 million for the Air Force to buy three elite Gulfstream jets for ferrying top government officials and Members of Congress.
The Air Force had asked for one Gulfstream 550 jet (price tag: about $65 million) as part of an ongoing upgrade of its passenger air service."

Beside the FACT that a majority of our elected officials ARE lawyers themselves....what did we elect you for then???? WE GET WHAT WE DESERVE!
CNSNews.com - Conyers Sees No Point in Members Reading 1,000-Page Health Care Bill--Unless They Have 2 Lawyers to Interpret It for Them:
(CNSNews.com) - During his speech at a National Press Club luncheon, House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.), questioned the point of lawmakers reading the health care bill.
“I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill,’” said Conyers.
“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”"

Democrats Censor Mailing of Health Care Bill Chart - HUMAN EVENTS
If you haven't already - print this chart out...it would be hilarious if it weren't so damned scary!
Democrats Censor Mailing of Health Care Bill Chart - HUMAN EVENTS:
Republican Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) also found himself being censored yesterday by Democrats who refused to allow mailings that included a chart (pdf) he asked his Republican staff at the Joint Economic Committee to create. Democrats have to approve these mailings under the House “franked” mail system -- the system by which communications are sent between Congress and constituents that requires the member signature in place of a stamp. The President, Congress and some cabinet members are afforded this “franked” mail system for constituent communications to ensure the free flow of information."

GOP Not Allowed to Say 'Government-Run Healthcare" - HUMAN EVENTS:
Rep. John Carter (R-Texas), the secretary of the House Republican Conference and a former District Court Judge, is having his messages to constituents censored by Democrats on the Franking Commission. Republicans are no longer allowed to use the words “government run health care” in the communications to their constituents.
Carter received an email from the Franking Commission informing him of the censorship.
“It came to me from the Franking Commission and I have the email from the Franking Commission here if you’d like to see it,” Carter said. “We held a telephone town-hall… When you hold telephone town-halls you have a recorded message that introduces the town-hall and the subject matter you’re going to be talking about. You have to now submit that language to the Franking Commission."

Both U.S. political parties offend Joe the Plumber | Politics | Reuters:
HOLLAND, Ohio (Reuters) - 'Joe the Plumber,' who came to symbolize U.S. taxpayer frustration during last year's election, sounds even angrier now at what he sees as excessive government spending on the economy and healthcare reform.
'The politicians in Washington are spending trillions of dollars of our money. When are Americans going to stand up and say enough is enough?' said Joe Wurzelbacher, 35, in an interview on Friday at his modest suburban Ohio home."

Leading Blue Dog Democrat: Pelosi Does Not Have the Votes for Health Care Reform - Political Punch
PLEASE keep on top of our elected Officials! Health Insurance started with approx. 300 government unfunded mandates - items that had to be covered in every plan. Now it borders on 2000 mandates!!! 2000!
I asked my Insurance Rep if we could "pick and choose" coverage, to hopefully keep our group costs down.
Some of us needed family, some just a married couple, some none ( BY CHOICE ) and some just catastrophic. Nope....Government already has stepped in over the years and wrecked health insurance....Between Government and the Trial Lawyers.....we have to take a plan that covers all 2000 mandates whether we want ANY of them or not.
If they are in charge....how many more mandates will be imposed on these insurance companies???
And THEN...after we're done soaking the rich ( as though they are going to allow that )....who's gonna PAY then???? Look in a mirror...
Leading Blue Dog Democrat: Pelosi Does Not Have the Votes for Health Care Reform - Political Punch:
How is health care reform progressing on Capitol Hill?
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., today insisted everything is smooth sailing with the House bill that would require every American to have health insurance or pay a fine; create a government run health plan to compete with private insurers to drive costs down; and impose an up to 5.4% new tax on top wage-earners.
“I have no question that we have the votes on the floor of the House to pass this legislation,” Pelosi told reporters.
But a leading conservative “Blue Dog” Democrat told ABC News that claim is questionable."

Barney Frank Can't Find a Villain!:
RUSH: This is amazing. 'As the watchdog of the government's massive bailout of the financial sector,' TARP, 'Neil Barofsky had a simple question: What had the nation's banks done with all their bailout money? Can't be answered, said the Treasury Department, because of the way banks move money internally. The department declined to put the question to the banks. And so Barofsky started asking financial institutions himself, getting answers from more than 300 that had received federal bailout money and learning to what extent they had used the money to increase their lending,' and so forth."

Senator: Democrats “baffled” by president’s health care stance - Blogs from CNN.com
Good Lord! When CNN admits "in writing" that even the Democrats are as baffled by this health care proposal as the rest of us - it's time to run for the hills!!!!....????...or better yet, contact your Representative and say STOP!!! Just STOP - and THINK for a change! This isn't about "Party Lines"...it's about "We the People"....
CNN Political Ticker: Senator: Democrats “baffled” by president’s health care stance:
WASHINGTON (CNN) – As the prospects for passing health reform by the time Congress leaves for its August recess look bleaker, Democratic grumbling about President Obama is growing louder. One Democratic senator tells CNN congressional Democrats are “baffled,” and another senior Democratic source tells CNN members of the president’s own party are still “frustrated” that they’re not getting more specific direction from him on health care."

Budget chief: Docs fees not paid for in Obama bill
Budget chief: Docs fees not paid for in Obama bill: "...administration always assumed the money would be spent to prevent a cut of more than 20 percent in doctor fees.
The Congressional Budget Office said last Friday the higher payments cost $245 billion over 10 years. It said including the money in the overall bill would result in deficits totaling $239 billion.
On Friday, a few hours earlier, the president declared: 'I've said that health-insurance reform cannot add to our deficit over the next decade. And I mean it.'"

PROMISES, PROMISES: Do Obama deals break pledge?
PROMISES, PROMISES: Do Obama deals break pledge?: "just over two months before the 2008 election, Obama promised before an audience in Chester, Va., to hash out a health care overhaul in public. 'We'll have the negotiations televised on C-SPAN, so that people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents, and who are making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies,' he said then.
That didn't happen."

Tax increases make House healthcare bill a lightning rod for opposition
FT.com | Tax increases make House healthcare bill a lightning rod for opposition: "The House of Representatives introduced a healthcare bill yesterday that incorporates a significant tax increase for the wealthy as Barack Obama tries to steer his most cherished reform into law.
The bill would partly fund the cost of expanding coverage to the 45m uninsured - pegged at about $100bn a year - by levying new taxes on wealthy citizens. Senior Democrats said they would aim to pass the bill before Congress breaks for recess on August 3."

American Thinker Blog: Dems running into irate constituents over ObamaCare
Ya know, This would be funny if it weren't so damned serious...
American Thinker Blog: Dems running into irate constituents over ObamaCare:
I am busy laughing at an e-mail from the local TEA party people. There should be some first rate political theater in the offing. After what happened to HHS Secretary Sebelius, MD SenatorCardin and Mo Rep Russ Carnahan when they each were confronted by taxpayers who seemed to know more about the pending health care bill than they did, I suspect that some members of Congress may not be so eager to go back to their districts during the upcoming recess."

Representative Pete Hoekstra: Intelligence Community under Seige
Washington, Jul 17 - U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, issued the following statement on an inquiry by the committee into an effort considered by the CIA:
'Republicans on this committee believe that the best way forward is an inquiry agreement that would set out a common understanding of the purpose and scope of any committee review and ensure that it is conducted in a thorough, serious and bipartisan manner. Unfortunately, it comes as no surprise that the day after Chairman Reyes and I discussed bipartisan collaboration, the Democrats, likely under pressure to defend Speaker Pelosi, backed away from the effort, instead offering a partisan plan and ignoring our previous discussions."

American Thinker: Taxpayers: Eat your hearts out, suckers:
A looming problem has received far too little coverage from a liberal-dominated media: the power of public pensions to destroy our nation's finances and ransack our wallets.
For many years, government workers have enjoyed munificent benefits: relatively high salaries for lenient work demands; gold-plated retirement benefits that allow most of them to 'retire' at a young age with very high pensions and generous health care benefits. Days off for holidays that few of us would even recognize."
