NEVER FORGET....9/11/01

On Sept. 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 people were killed on America’s worst day of terrorism as 19 al-Qaida terrorists hijacked four passenger jetliners. Two planes smashed into New York’s World Trade Center, causing the twin towers to fall; one plowed into the Pentagon; and the fourth crashed into a field in western Pennsylvania.

American Thinker: Time to Tackle Right to Work

The 2010 landslide means that Republicans in the House can stop any new legislative initiatives by the Democrats and that Senate Republicans, if united, can stop almost anything Democrats want to do in that body as well. House Republicans can also send to the Senate bills that will put political pressure on Obama and Senate Democrats, like a complete extension of the Bush tax cuts. But at the federal level, Republicans cannot actually do anything without Democrats caving in."

Democracy Denied...

The chart shows how it has become standard procedure in the Obama administration not to take no for an answer. When Obama's radical agenda is rejected by Congress and the American people, he goes around the democratic process to do what he wants anyway.

American Thinker: Vote For Dave

American Thinker: Vote For Dave:

Dave McArthur owns a few bakeries in St Louis, Missouri; McArthur's Bakery. His bakeries make treats of legendary appeal throughout the St Louis area and Dave is a local media personality as well. Most of us think apple turnovers and politics aren't really compatible in the same sentence, but recently Dave's made them so. He didn't want to. He never intended to. He was forced into a corner and for his own survival, he had to. Here's why."

The Childrens' Story

This story, by James Clavell, appeared in Reader's Digest back in the 1960's. We feel it is remarkably relevant today.

Text version

A video was made for television in the 1980's. It's in 3 parts:

American Thinker: Why Do Liberals Bleed?

American Thinker: Why Do Liberals Bleed?:

I've been thinking about learning how to fire a gun, maybe even buying one. Now if you are a lifelong conservative, Red State dweller, and NRA member, you might be thinking, 'Big yawn. What's next? She'll be telling us what she had for breakfast? ...Learning to fire a gun seems as ludicrous as deciding to take up brain surgery... But, I am rethinking absolutely everything. There is not a single thing that I believed, that I held absolute and holy, that is not up for grabs. My brain is in a tizzy 24/7 and I don't know if up is down, or if east is west.

Retreat into Apathy by Mark Steyn

Retreat into Apathy by Mark Steyn on National Review Online:

Willie Whitelaw, a genial old buffer who served as Margaret Thatcher’s deputy for many years, once accused the Labour party of going around Britain stirring up apathy. Viscount Whitelaw’s apparent paradox is, in fact, a shrewd political insight, and all the sharper for being accidental. Big government depends, in large part, on going around the country stirring up apathy — creating the sense that problems are so big, so complex, so intractable that even attempting to think about them for yourself gives you such a splitting headache it’s easier to shrug and accept as given the proposition that only government can deal with them."

6/14/2009 - SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFNS) -- Patriotism, simply defined, is devotion to one's country. In some nations this devotion is expressed more passionately and openly than in others, but loyalty to one's homeland is a natural and common emotion. Such patriotic feeling often lies quietly within the breast of a population and may not have a highly visible expression until times of national tragedy or threat.

For example, America's patriotism sat lightly on the sleeves of a citizenry that had come to feel complacently secure within its borders, but it gained massive public display following the national threat perceived after 9/11.

On Hardball: Journalist Links Rush Limbaugh to Holocaust Museum Shooting

How is it these people can utter any hateful thing they feel like, while everyone one elses opinion or question is shouted down???

On Hardball: Journalist Links Rush Limbaugh to Holocaust Museum Shooting:

Salon.com Editor-in-Chief Joan Walsh, on Wednesday night's 'Hardball,' cited 'conservatives' like Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin and Bill O’Reilly for 'whipping up' a climate that sparks the likes of alleged Holocaust Museum shooter James Von Brunn and 'Hardball' host Chris Matthews wondered if access to guns were to blame for the tragedy as he cried, 'It's easier to get your hands on a gun than to get somebody to make you a waffle.' Blaming Limbaugh while insisting she was not, Walsh charged:

There is a very disturbing and disturbed element of political discourse. And I would, I would throw in Rush Limbaugh. Not blaming him, but when you say that our President is more dangerous than al-Qaeda you've gone off into crazy nut job land. You are off the charts crazy. And you are, you are whipping people up.

After her appearance from San Francisco, Walsh posted a blog item titled: 'Can right-wing hate talk lead to murder?'"

American Thinker: Nationalizing Public Education Comes After Health Care

American Thinker: Nationalizing Public Education Comes After Health Care:

After Congress passes a national health care plan, nationalizing public education will be next.

John Naisbitt, author of Megatrends (1988), said something to the effect that Ronald Reagan wasn't leading the (conservative) parade; he was riding the horse that was leading the parade.

Barack Obama is leading the progressive parade, and his wagon is hitched to a team of horses that includes a compliant Democrat Congress, well-funded liberal think tanks, a shill media, and the collective mindset of a progressive movement active since the early 20th Century."

U.S. Chamber of Commerce Announces Campaign to Support Free Enterprise

U.S. Chamber of Commerce :: U.S. Chamber Announces Campaign to Support Free Enterprise: "'We're launching this campaign because those who make or influence economic policy must understand that a productive, competitive private sector is not something they can take for granted,' added Donohue. 'It is built on a system of incentives that offers opportunity and rewards for those who work hard and take risks. Take away those incentives through an avalanche of new rules, restrictions, mandates, and taxes and you will seriously undermine the wealth and job-creating capacity of the nation.'

'Dire economic circumstances have certainly justified some out-of-the-ordinary remedial actions by government,' he explained. 'But enough is enough."

Rush: What Obama Inherited

Rush: What Obama Inherited:

Now, this business about what he inherited drives me batty. He keeps blaming it on his 'predecessor.' No president has ever done that. This is childish. It is immature. It's narcissistic. Let me tell you what Barack Obama 'inherited,' as president of the United States. Barack Obama inherited greatness. He inherited the birthplace of the individual. He inherited the defender of liberty at home and abroad, the United States of America. He inherited American exceptionalism."

'High Noon' for Freedom - WSJ.com

'High Noon' for Freedom - WSJ.com: "The story of communism's collapse, which began in full the same day Tiananmen's students were crushed by People's Liberation Army tanks, is a timely reminder of the deep-seated human desire for freedom. And an antidote to the fatalism that says Russians, Iranians, Chinese or Egyptians are somehow destined to cower under dictatorship."

Strassel: Pelosi's Pork Problem - WSJ.com

Strassel: Pelosi's Pork Problem - WSJ.com: "Picture a freight train roaring down the tracks. Picture House Speaker Nancy Pelosi positioning her party on the rails. Picture a growing stream of nervous souls diving for the weeds. Picture all this, and you've got a sense of the Democrats' earmark-corruption problem."

Obama's Attack on Achievers and Individual Rights

American Thinker: Obama's Attack on Achievers and Individual Rights:

Recently, I thought of two Hall of Fame baseball players, Baltimore Orioles', Frank Robinson and Cal Ripken Jr. On several occasions, I witnessed Robinson, bottom of the ninth with two outs, dramatically hitting the game winning home run. Most players may hit the game winner once in their careers. With great pride, they repeatedly tell the tale to their grandkids. Incredibly, Frank Robinson hit the 'big one' numerous times."

Feds spike voter citizenship checks in Georgia

Feds spike voter citizenship checks in Georgia:

ATLANTA — The Justice Department has rejected Georgia's system of using Social Security numbers and driver's license data to check whether prospective voters are citizens, a process that was a subject of a federal lawsuit in the weeks leading up to November's election.

In a letter released on Monday, the Justice Department said the state's voter verification program is frequently inaccurate and has a 'discriminatory effect' on minority voters. The decision means Georgia must halt the citizenship checks, although the state can still ask the Justice Department to reconsider, according to the letter and to the Georgia secretary of state's office."

This Easter, Smaller Percentage of Americans Are Christian

This Easter, Smaller Percentage of Americans Are Christian: "The United States remains a dominantly Christian nation. More than three-quarters of all Americans identify as Christian. And the vast majority of those who identify with any religion say they are Christian in some form or another."
