A House committee held what was perhaps one of its more explosive hearings Wednesday on a bill that would give a federal commission the power to approve the Keystone XL pipeline. Democrats, lead by Congressman Henry Waxman, call the bill a Republican earmark and thus asked that the Koch brothers be subpoenaed to testify on their alleged investment in the project. Republican Committee chairman Ed Whitefield was having none of it, however, and cut Waxman off at the knees.

Brady Center loses bid.....
The PLCAA was passed in 2005 with broad bipartisan support. The purpose of the act is to prevent firearms manufacturers and retailers from being held liable for crimes committed with their products. In this case, the plaintiffs, who were represented by the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, sought to hold the firearms retailer liable in a wrongful death and negligence claim because a firearm had been stolen from his store.

Ryan Jerome - Marine Corps Community for USMC Marine Veterans

Marines across the country are rushing to the rescue of former fellow leatherneck Ryan Jerome, who is facing prison time after trying to check his Indiana-registered handgun at the Empire State Building on Sept. 27.
In multiple blog and chat-group postings and letter-writing campaigns — some aimed directly at NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, a Marine Vietnam veteran — the Marines are urging that the charges be dropped against their “brother.”
“It is just overwhelming, the love and support I am receiving from my fellow Marines,” said Jerome, 28, a former private first class whose father and grandfather were Marines and who was a TOW gunner before his honorable discharge in 2005.

Felony gun charges have been dropped against Tea Party Patriots co-founder Mark Meckler, who on Thursday agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct and pay a fine.

I really like Tim Tebow. The whole thing...prayers, playing, off field. I really didn't like having to root against him twice this season ( I also REALLY like Tom Brady )...but this kid is special. In a memo, Justice argued the pro forma sessions held every third day in the Senate do not constitute a functioning body that can render advice and consent on the president’s nominees. It said the president acted consistently under the law by making the appointments.

Liberals (and even some conservatives) have defended the president, either saying the party was mentioned to some degree, or that the president‘s Halloween plans shouldn’t be national news.

Labor unions continued to receive the overwhelming majority of waivers from the president’s health care reform law since the Obama administration tightened application rules last summer.
Documents released in a classic Friday afternoon news dump show that labor unions representing 543,812 workers received waivers from President Barack Obama‘s signature legislation since June 17, 2011.
By contrast, private employers with a total of 69,813 employees, many of whom work for small businesses, were granted waivers.

After almost 30 years of my company paying 100% for employee health care, we had to give it up because costs got to be too much. I have no insurance however PAY EVERY BILL when I see a doctor. I PAY. Why is anyone surprised by this? Our "Leaders" swear allegiance too themselves...not the Constitution or our country. Why shouldn't they pay absolute homage to another false deity on Christmas? Perry is the longest serving governor in Texas history, a state with a long-standing tradition of voting incumbents out of office. He has successfully managed budget shortfalls without taking the easy path of tax hikes. General Revenue spending, accounting for population and inflation, is lower now then when he took office. He has cut taxes by billions. He has rejected federal dollars when he thought the feds where overstepping their authority. And, perhaps more importantly, he spearheaded a landmark medical malpractice reform which reversed the exodus of doctors out of the state and is steadily improving the health care market in Texas.

I thought about the military all weekend. I watched with an odd sadness and relief when I saw the last tank head for Kuwait. My own family had people over there several times....it seems to have been a part of my life for almost two decades.
Fear and pride omnipresent.
I wonder though....
I pray that our withdrawal wasn't just political in nature.
I fear more than anything it was.
If that be the case....we know all those wonderful, brave giving souls who gave their last full measure of devotion will have died for....?.....They will have died for us.
I just pray our country didn't abandon their mission for the sake of a voting block.
We must - as a Nation - NEVER FORGET!

I am a gun owner....I treasure my Permit as 99.9% of the law abiding permit holding citizens do. I have a great respect for the power of the firearm.....we aren't the yahoo's breaking the laws....right now I'd check out Eric Holder.......
In less than six weeks, 56,000 people applied for a permit under Wisconsin's new concealed carry law and thousands more bought handguns, swamping the state agency handling the required background checks.
The applicants so far amount to about 1% of the state's population, and very few of them have been rejected for a permit. The number of state background checks for handgun purchases is also up more than 50% for the year - another sign of the large numbers of people taking advantage of the new concealed carry law.
