Northeastern Pa. family receives an early Christmas miracle - thanks to Santa Claus

Perhaps it's it's time we opened our hearts and believed...

Northeastern Pa. family receives an early Christmas miracle - thanks to Santa Claus:

From time to time, an event occurs that makes people believe in Christmas miracles.

Ed and Lynn Silliman's miracle came a few weeks ago.

The Sheppton, Schuylkill County couple's 5-year-old daughter, Delaney, walked for the first time on her own after receiving a special gift from Santa Claus, according to her mom.

Delaney has developmental disabilities that make it hard for her to talk or walk more than a few steps by herself.

But like most kids her age, Delaney loves visiting with Santa."

American Thinker Blog: Obama agrees to 'cap' the global temperature rise

American Thinker Blog: Obama agrees to 'cap' the global temperature rise:

Politico reported that, “President Obama and world leaders are on the verge of finalizing a climate deal that caps the global temperature rise at 1.5 degrees,” just before the “Copenhagen Accord” was confirmed.

My first thought was: That sounds like something from the Justice League cartoon. After accepting that this lunacy is real life stuff, my second was: I have never read a more arrogant statement in my life."

My Way News - New jobless claims rise unexpectedly:

WASHINGTON (AP) - The number of newly laid off workers filing claims for unemployment benefits unexpectedly rose last week as the recovery of the nation's battered labor market proceeds in fits and starts.

The Labor Department said Thursday that the number of new jobless claims rose to 480,000 last week, up 7,000 from the previous week. That was a worse performance than the decline to 465,000 that economists had expected."

‘And here’s the most outrageous part: at the end of this rush, they want us to vote on a bill that no one outside the Majority Leader’s conference room has even seen. That’s right. The final bill we’ll vote on isn’t even the one we’ve had on the floor. It’s the deal Democrat leaders have been trying to work out in private’

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following remarks on the Senate floor Thursday regarding the importance of getting it right on health care reform:

“Senators on both sides acknowledge that the health care bill we’re considering is among the most significant pieces of legislation any of us will ever consider."

American Thinker: On the brink

American Thinker: On the brink:

After Richard Nixon defused the 1960s student revolt by abolishing the draft, the brain trust of the revolutionary left shifted its strategic focus to Antonio Gramsci's teachings, realizing that it is the intelligentsia, not the proletariat, that is the true revolutionary force in society; that cultural dominance, not violent revolt, is the true path to power. A project known as the Great March through the Institutions was launched. Nearly four decades later, in November 2008, it triumphed in a historic electoral victory; the revolutionary wave crested and deposited in the White House Barack Obama, the most radical president in the history of the republic."

If this doesn't get your attention....then NOTHING will....here is the TRUE reason AND vision of Copenhagen....

Putting our economy in the hands of Chavez fans | Herald Sun Andrew Bolt Blog:

President Chavez brought the house down.

When he said the process in Copenhagen was “not democratic, it is not inclusive, but isn’t that the reality of our world, the world is really and imperial dictatorship…down with imperial dictatorships” he got a rousing round of applause.

When he said there was a “silent and terrible ghost in the room” and that ghost was called capitalism, the applause was deafening.

But then he wound up to his grand conclusion – 20 minutes after his 5 minute speaking time was supposed to have ended and after quoting everyone from Karl Marx to Jesus Christ - “our revolution seeks to help all people…socialism, the other ghost that is probably wandering around this room, that’s the way to save the planet, capitalism is the road to hell....let’s fight against capitalism and make it obey us.” He won a standing ovation."

Schumer and his seatmate, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), were chatting on their phones before takeoff when an announcement indicated that it was time to turn off the phones."

Dems to lift debt ceiling by $1.8 trillion, fear 2010 backlash - - POLITICO.com:

In a bold but risky year-end strategy, Democrats are preparing to raise the federal debt ceiling by as much as $1.8 trillion before New Year’s rather than have to face the issue again prior to the 2010 elections.

“We’ve incurred this debt. We have to pay our bills,” House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told POLITICO Wednesday. And the Maryland Democrat confirmed that the anticipated increase could be as high as $1.8 trillion — nearly twice what had been assumed in last spring’s budget resolution for the 2010 fiscal year."

Let’s take a step back from the beat-down for just a moment and examine the situation objectively, shall we? Most everyone knows the facts surrounding the killings by now. One can hardly blame the West Point leadership. The academy commanders did their best to ensure that Commander-in-Chief Barack Obama's speech would be well-received.

Just minutes before the president took the stage inside Eisenhower Hall, the gathered cadets were asked to respond 'enthusiastically' to the speech. But it didn't help: The soldiers' reception was cool."

The White House Takes On Politico

The White House Takes On Politico - The Atlantic Politics Channel:

It's not just Fox News that's become subject of White House derision. The following is an excerpt from a joke e-mail that is circulating among White House staffers. It's a response, of sorts, to the analytical essay that Politico editor-in-chief John Harris wrote about the 'seven stories that Barack Obama doesn't want told.' It's fairly caustic -- and, truth be told, the White House maintains good relationships with Politico reporters and has been known to try to agenda-set by dishing out a few tips to the publication. But make no mistake: many on the White House senior staff dislike Politico's brand of journalism, and they do not like the effect that Politico's metabolism has on the rest of the press corps, including this (i.e., my own) corner of it. Still, don't read too much into this. There's been plenty of back-and-forth between the White and the Politico, and the White House accepts the role -- which is often substantial -- that Politico plays in the newsgathering process."

NEW DOCUMENTS REVEAL: White House, NEA Had Big Plans In Motion Before Being Exposed

Big Hollywood - Blog Archive - NEW DOCUMENTS REVEAL: White House, NEA Had Big Plans In Motion Before Being Exposed:

Inciting is usually a telegraphed endeavor, with rhetoric yelled to an audience through a megaphone held by a coarse, weathered hand. But it can also be delivered subtly, with a soft voice and a wink, in the name of doing good.

Subtlety is necessary if a federal agency intends to incite activists to take action on the hot issues of the moment. This approach is what we see when we look at the most recent documents acquired by a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request of the controversial August 10th conference call."

UK climate scientist to temporarily step down:

LONDON (AP) - Britain's University of East Anglia says the director of its prestigious Climatic Research Unit is stepping down pending an investigation into allegations that he overstated the case for man-made climate change.

The university says Phil Jones will relinquish his position until the completion of an independent review into allegations that he worked to alter the way in which global temperature data was presented."

Editorial: Unhappy ending for an unnecessary story - The Delaware County Daily Times : Serving Delaware County, PA(DelcoTimes.com):

Four and a half years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled it was OK for the city of New London, Conn., to force 15 working-class families out of their homes to make way for a riverfront hotel and office complex. The high court decided taking the homes by eminent domain was allowable so the city could enhance its tax revenues.

The Supreme Court was the last resort for the families, who thought their homes and neighborhood should not be sacrificed on the altar of the corporate gods.

Just how did all that litigation turn out for New London, its residents and its tax base?"

American Thinker Blog: Should Dick Cheney run in 2012?:

Short answer; no. His well known heart problems would kill any chances of success. I seriously doubt questions about his health could ever be put to rest no matter how many doctors swore he was fit.

Beyond that, there is no doubt that Cheney would make a great president. He would be the 'Anti-Obama,' possessing qualities exactly the opposite of our current president while outshining him in wisdom and fortitude.

Leaving the health issue aside, could he win the nomination? Jon Meacham of Newsweek takes a serious look at why Cheney would be a good candidate:"

The imaginary science of manmade global warning can now be entered into the infamous history of politicized science, a travesty which has threads in our lives today. Carson's invented findings and unscientific methods led to the banning of DDT, which in turn cost the lives of tens of millions of children in undeveloped nations. Kinsey's tortuously doctored 'sex research,' as Dr. Judith Riesman has so amply demonstrated, was not only invented to sate his perverted lusts but created scientific myths about normal and abnormal behavior which haunt us to this day."

7 stories Barack Obama doesn't want told - John F. Harris - POLITICO.com:

Presidential politics is about storytelling. Presented with a vivid storyline, voters naturally tend to fit every new event or piece of information into a picture that is already neatly framed in their minds.

No one understands this better than Barack Obama and his team, who won the 2008 election in part because they were better storytellers than the opposition. The pro-Obama narrative featured an almost mystically talented young idealist who stood for change in a disciplined and thoughtful way. This easily outpowered the anti-Obama narrative, featuring an opportunistic Chicago pol with dubious relationships who was more liberal than he was letting on."

UFO Chaser: Aliens Involved in Mysterious Calf Mutilations - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com:

SAN LUIS, Colo. — A creepy string of calf mutilations in southern Colorado has a rancher and sheriff's officials mystified.

Four calves were found dead in a pasture just north of the New Mexico state line in recent weeks. The dead calves had their skins peeled back and organs cleared from the rib cage. One calf had its tongue removed.

But rancher Manuel Sanchez has found no signs of human attackers, such as footprints or ATV tracks. And there are no signs of an animal attack by a coyote or mountain lion. Usually predators leave pools of blood or drag marks from carrying away the livestock.

Two officers from the Costilla County Sheriff's Office have investigated the mutilations but say they don't know what's killing the calves."

The same turkey you didn’t like in August...

“Senator Reid’s bill is appropriate for the season: it’s the same turkey you didn’t like in August, and it’s not going to taste any better on Thanksgiving. Not much has changed. The bill still means higher premiums, it still means higher taxes, and it still cuts Medicare. It’s still 2,000 pages, and it still costs more than $2 trillion when fully implemented — and that doesn’t take into account a quarter-trillion-dollar doctors’ Medicare reimbursement. And it still sends struggling states new Medicaid costs that will force states to raise taxes or damage higher education or both.

“The two most important new parts of the bill make it even worse. There’s a new payroll tax that is exactly the wrong medicine when there’s 10 percent unemployment. And there’s a new government-run insurance program into which millions of Americans will be pushed when their employers drop their health care coverage as a result of this bill.

“We need to start over. We should move step-by-step to reduce health care costs using the steps that Republicans have repeatedly proposed: let small businesses pool resources for health insurance; allow purchasing of health insurance across state lines; end junk lawsuits against doctors; eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse; expand health savings accounts; and promote wellness and prevention.” –Senator Alexander

The House Democrats’ health care legislation will increase the budget deficit by $89 billion over the next 10 years, and would continue increasing thereafter, according to figures released today by the Congressional Budget Office [CBO] – a finding that directly contradicts the Democrats’ claims of deficit reduction. CBO’s analysis counts all Federal health costs – including a Medicare payment increase to physicians known as the “doc fix” – which House Democrats removed from their health care bill (H.R. 3962) to bring it up as a separate measure, H.R. 3961.

Healthcare "Smoke and mirrors"

"This bill is nothing but smoke and mirrors. The Senate Democrats praise the bill they wrote behind closed doors saying it will cut costs and lead to savings, but the math doesn't add up. This 2,074 page bill will actually cost $2.5 trillion over 10 years once it is fully implemented. It will raise $493 billion in taxes and it will cut Medicare by nearly half a trillion dollars." - Senator Bennett

Interest due on U.S. debt: Close to $5 trillion - Nov. 19, 2009:

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Here's a new way to think about the U.S. government's epic borrowing: More than half of the $9 trillion in debt that Uncle Sam is expected to build up over the next decade will be interest.

More than half. In fact, $4.8 trillion.

If that's hard to grasp, here's another way to look at why that's a problem."

Would a member of the House of Representatives vote to pass Obamacare if he or she knew it was going to lead to an electoral loss in November 2010?

Even if a 'yes' vote on Obamacare significantly increases the likelihood of a loss without guaranteeing it, would a member of the House still throw in with Nancy Pelosi and President Obama?"

Big Government Blog Archive Finally, A Congressman With a Solution: Stop Complaining So Much

Yup - we elected these guys......the economy is collapsing...unemployment, oh heck...who cares....let's just "Stop Complaining"! That'll do the trick.....

Big Government - Blog Archive - Finally, A Congressman With a Solution: Stop Complaining So Much:

Sure, the economy sucks. Unemployment is at least 10.2% and, yes, if you include part-time workers who would rather have full-time jobs it may be over 17%. The government is showering our cash on Wall Street and burning through piles of our children and grandchildren’s money “saving” phantom jobs in Congressional Districts that don’t exist."

My topic today sounds humorous but unfortunately I am serious. I am going to argue that extraterrestrials lie behind global warming. Or to speak more precisely, I will argue that a belief in extraterrestrials has paved the way, in a progression of steps, to a belief in global warming. Charting this progression of belief will be my task today."

The worst is yet to come: Unemployed Americans should hunker down for more job losses:

Think the worst is over? Wrong. Conditions in the U.S. labor markets are awful and worsening. While the official unemployment rate is already 10.2% and another 200,000 jobs were lost in October, when you include discouraged workers and partially employed workers the figure is a whopping 17.5%."

Second Amendment Freedom- Firearms Rights: More Anti-Gun Groups Blame Gun, Bullets, And Magazines For Ft. Hood Killings:

The so called “Freedom States Alliance” (what an oxymoron) and other anti gun groups are trying to blame the gun, the bullets it fired, and the high capacity magazines that were in it for the murders of soldiers at Fort Hood, and not the Muslim Jihadist fanatic who did the killings. Perhaps they would have preferred an IED. Obviously, IEDs are illegal and banned in both Iraq, and Afghanistan, but they still seem to find a way to go off."

Brent Bozell : Seeing Moral Grays in 9/11 - Townhall.com:

Picking up the Sunday paper Nov. 15 could make a reader a little airsick -- even while standing in the driveway. The Washington Post 'news analysis' on the front page carried the headline '9/11 trial could become a parable of right and wrong: Before worldwide audience, both prosecution, defense seek control of narrative.'

Does The Washington Post really think that the death and destruction of 9/11 'could' be right, or 'could' be wrong?"

Is America at war, or not?

Is America at war, or not?:

For if we are at war, why is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed headed for trial in federal court in the Southern District of New York? Why is he entitled to a presumption of innocence and all of the constitutional protections of a U.S. citizen?

Is it possible we have done an injustice to this man by keeping him locked up all these years without trial? For that is what this trial implies – that he may not be guilty."

Open Letter to Timothy Geithner: Is Your Nose Getting Longer?

Dear Treasury Secretary Geithner:
I noticed you recently told the Japanese press that you intended to maintain a strong dollar, and that the Obama administration would bring the U.S. fiscal deficit back to a “sustainable balance.”
Tell me, don’t you feel your nose extending like Pinocchio’s when you tell these fibs to innocent Asians?
The dollar is not strong. In fact, it’s sinking to record levels of weakness, and it’s going to stay that way, for three reasons... Read more HERE

After spending binge, White House says it will focus on deficits - Mike Allen and Jim VandeHei - POLITICO.com:

The president's plan, which the officials said was under discussion before this month’s Democratic election setbacks, represents both a practical and a political calculation by this White House.

On the practical side, Obama has spent more money on new programs in nine months than Bill Clinton did in eight years, pushing the annual deficit to $1.4 trillion. This leaves little room for big spending initiatives."

seMissourian.com: Story: Mr. Obama: I'm calling you out:

The new era of government control over our lives and freedoms has begun. This week, it got personal, and I felt helpless.

The doctor overseeing my health care advised me to get an H1N1 flu shot. I've been under a six-year treatment program for a chronic infection, plus I have heart and lung problems. Therefore, I am considered a high risk. Fortunately, my doctor had three shots available, but I would have to get approval from my county health department. Much to my surprise, the woman at the health department apologized and told me that even though I was a senior citizen at high risk, the health department had been instructed to approve shots only for children and pregnant mothers. I asked when a shot for my situation might be available. 'We really don't know. Check back with us sometime in December.'"
