Sheila Jackson Lee: The Race Card Hits Its Debt Limit

The one thing that the Federal budget and the race card have in common is that neither one has any spending limit. And suggesting any spending limit is racist. But what unlimited spending really translates to is unlimited power. And unlimited privilege."

When The Boys In Leadership Flee, Will The Freedom Fighters in the House Hold the Line? | RedState

Will the "Leadership" hold? And trust me when I say I use the word "Leadership" carefully. John Boehner says they will...."will they"...?...
Do they possess the "Will"? I just don't know anymore.
The fact the next vote is taking place on Saturday worries me because it's out of the News Cycle....which means nasty things can happen when everyone is at the beach.
Remember Obamacare?
I called my Senators to Cut, Cap & Balance JUST like my business has had to....did you?
This isn't a spectator sport. You want a hand in the game - call the coach - send in the plays....WE hold the power!

When the boys in leadership run off the battlefield, will the freedom fighters in the House hold the line?

We’ve seen this before. The House leaders rallied the troops to vote for Paul Ryan’s plan and then ran from it as far as possible. Heck, they even sent Paul Ryan into the witness protection program during the debt ceiling fight.

You House guys were getting shot up and leadership was hiding or trying to cut deals behind your back. That’s apparently the nature of Republican Leadership."

MSNBC To GOP Congressman: "Do You Have A Degree In Economics?" | RealClearPolitics

Two Points for Gryffindor!

MSNBC's Contessa Brewer, you may remember just yesterday said the attack on Rupert Murdoch at a hearing encapsulated what the British were feeling.

Today, Contessa 'educated' a conservative Representative that if Congress does not raise the debt raising, the country would be 'reverting into a depression.' Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) said he disagreed which prompted the MSNBC host to ask him if he had a degree in economics.

'Yes ma'am, I do. Highest honors,' Rep. Brooks responded."

Chronicle - Editorial Exegesis - PatriotPost.US

On Friday the previously press conference-averse president had his third news conference in two weeks to once again make his pitch for a 'big package' to close the federal deficit, to which he has already managed to add $4 trillion. His solution remains what it has always been -- taxes. But then you knew that. Or did you?"

Parallels with Potter something to think about for Boston fans!

This is for my Boston & Harry Potter friends!

Confession time. I’m sure those of you who’ve read my column before, heard me on WEEI and watched the Fanthropology videos I’ve done for this site just naturally assume I’m about the most suave, sophisticated guy in Boston. I have no doubt that you look at the picture that goes with this article and assume my life is all fashion models loosening my tuxedo tie while they rub my shoulders and fetch me another vodka martini. Well, you’re only partially correct."

Tax Cut Fraud

When GHWB Caved after saying "No new taxes"....he thought he was doing the "right thing"....this is what happens when you deal with the devil....

You remember what happened: Not only did the $274 billion promised spending cuts never materialize, but also all the $137 billion in tax hikes slid through the Congress. The top marginal rate went from 28 percent to 31 percent."

Obama’s Muslim Outreach: Epic Fail

When Barack Obama took over the Oval Office from George W. Bush in 2009, he was riding the crest of a tidal wave of gullibility among his supporters, who believed him to be the Chosen One bringing salvation and deliverance from the wasteland of the Bush years. In their fevered imagination, the inept, moronic, old-fashioned cowboy Bush had disastrously bungled his terms in office and caused the world to hate us. Now the multicultural, transnational, post-American demigod Obama had arrived, a deus ex machina from the heavens, offering hope and change to all. He was going to get the world to like us, really like us again"

The President’s Spending Cut Prediction was Only Off by 4,000 Billion Dollars.

Very, very nice and ADULT!

Rep. Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina’s 5th district, had strong words today for House Democrats demagoguing the Cut, Cap & Balance proposal from Republicans. Mulvaney correctly categorizes the Democrat’s own proposal as Duck, Dodge & Dismantle.

Sit back and enjoy some awesome schooling from one of the authors of Cut, Cap & Balance."

Now House Republicans Must Fight The Gang of 6′s Gangrene Plan

Well said...now HOLD the freaking line!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What’s going to happen now is the Senate will tell the House that its plan cannot pass. House Republicans must now continue to hold the freaking line. They must not waiver. They must understand that now that their plan is passed and that it allows the debt ceiling to be raised, the House GOP’s hand strengthens every day closer to August 2nd. And if this debacle goes past August 2nd, the House GOP is in charge as long as it holds the freaking line."

2012: The End of the World As We Know It

Freedom of speech, and of the press, and of peaceable assembly remains in America. The party-controlled media cannot prevent us from recognizing the harsh reality of Obama's failed Presidency. Even the Communist Party-controlled media in totalitarian states could not prevent the people from seeing the truth and rising up to force an historic change of course."

LBJ and the Destruction of American Currency

A Beginner’s Guide to the Debt Ceiling Debate

The Talmud says: “One should not extravagantly distribute more than one fifth of one’s income to charity.” Are the sages saying there’s a ceiling cap on giving charity? Yes they are, because if everyone were to give too much away there would be too many mouths to feed.

If you have been getting information from the mainstream media you may think tea partiers are forcing Republicans in Congress to; cut the budget so much people will be forced to push grandma’s wheelchair off a cliff or, are trying force the country into default guaranteeing Obama won’t be reelected.

Not true! It’s all about not having too many mouths to feed."

Syrian Tribal Leader Threatens to ‘Barbecue’ U.S. Ambassador ‘With or Without Salt’

But they are a people of "peace"...or should I say here...piece?

Ahmad Al-Shlash, a tribal leader in Syria, gave an interview to the Arabic language channel Al-Dunya TV in which he, along with his “cousins,” reportedly called for the U.S. Ambassador to Syria, Robert Stephen Ford, to be cooked and eaten like “American mutton,“ either ”with salt or without salt.”"

Bachmann Camp Accused of Shoving ABC News Reporter in South Carolina

I like Bachmann alot...she's not my choice....yet...
However the fierceness of the Left attack machine in their unrelenting assaults on her makes me pause and wonder....are they that scared of her? And if they are.....she seems far more interesting now....

ABC News says a reporter trying to question GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann was pushed and shoved by members of her camp after a campaign event in South Carolina.

Network news senior vice president Jeffrey Schneider said reporter Brian Ross was shoved Tuesday as security tried to block him from the Minnesota congresswoman while he asked whether she had to miss votes because of migraines. Schneider said Ross has been a victim of worse violence but added no reporter should be roughed up pursuing a story."

Debbie Wasserman Schultz Attacks Allen West On Floor; West Responds

Allen West.....he gets it...a man with a set, shall we say! How's this for a dream ticket....Chris Christie and Allen West....my heart be still!!!!!!

"Look, Debbie, I understand that after I departed the House floor you directed your floor speech comments directly towards me. Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige. You are the most vile, unprofessional ,and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. Focus on your own congressional district!"

Ron Paul: "We Will Default Because The Debt Is Unsustainable"

Don't always agree with this man, however the last sentence says it all - We'll send out the Social Security checks...but they won't buy anything...

'If we don’t understand this, this default will not be because we don't send out the checks. We will send out the checks. It will be defaulted on because people will get their money back, or they will get their Social Security checks and it won't buy anything.'"

Two never-finished Navy ships head to scrap heap

They are the two ships no one wanted, almost constantly embroiled in one dispute or another for the past 25 years. The two Navy behemoths have never gone on a mission, were never even completed, yet they cost taxpayers at least $300 million.

Now the vessels, the Benjamin Isherwood and the Henry Eckford, are destined to leave Virginia waters for good and be scrapped at a Texas salvage yard, with no money coming back to the U.S. Treasury."

Hmm: Chris Christie Headed to Iowa | The Weekly Standard

Oh Please Oh Please Oh Please!!!!!!!!!

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will be in Iowa, and will be a special guest at a fundraiser honoring Congressman King. Iowa businessmen Denny Elwell and Bruce Rastetter are the co-hosts for the event, and the event will take place at Mr. Elwell's home in West Des Moines.

Could be nothing, could ultimately be the start of the GOP's eventual salvation."

Debt Limit - Yup - Looks like more of the same....

Since the Spring, Washington has been abuzz with debt limit deadlines and rumored deals. But instead of actually solving our spending-induced debt crisis, Washington is delivering more of the same: secretive deals, gimmicks, and tax increases.

Do you want more of the same?"

Senate group offers $3.75 trillion deficit cuts | Reuters

Budget Plan, ey? Seems to have a small item - 1.2 trillion in "Revenues". Now...I'm one of the great unwashed....I'm not "smart enough" to understand all this BIG stuff....which is why I sooooooooooooo darn glad we elected these MORONS to RAISE TAXES!
Revenue = TAXES! Just what the economy needs....and I'll BET most are on the "Rich" who aren't going to pay them anyway and Small Business!

Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad, one of the six Democratic and Republican senators who have been working since December on a deficit-reduction plan, said the proposed $3.75 trillion in savings over 10 years contains $1.2 trillion in new revenues."

'Bullet Tax' Proposed By Mayoral Candidate - Baltimore News Story - WBAL Baltimore

Head explosion time...does he REALLY believe the "bad Guys" are legally purchasing their bullets....REALLY????

A mayoral candidate's plan to reduce violence in Baltimore includes a 'bullet tax' that he said will increase the cost of committing a crime.

Otis Rolley said he would, if elected, propose a $1 per bullet tax on all bullet purchases in the city."

Mark Steyn | GOP Anger | Debt Ceiling Debate

His explanation was quite good! I agree entirely. I just have this gut feeling we are going to fall like a house of cards....again, and again...and again.....

Is the Republican Party missing the point of these debt ceiling negotiations — that is, have they allowed the Democratic Party to define what the debate is really about, which is to increase the debt ceiling to expand the role government?

Columnist Mark Steyn says the answer is yes. Filling in as the guest host on Rush Limbaugh’s Monday show, Steyn explained the debt ceiling is not just a mechanism for allowing government to survive, but one that will allow it to continue to grow."

Balanced Budget Amendment: Lessons from History | The Heritage Foundation

A proposed balanced budget amendment (BBA) to the Constitution is set to be considered by Congress this July—the first such vote since 1997.

The BBA is a powerful proposal that attracts great vitriol from the American Left, which recognizes it as an enormous threat to its big-government ways—perhaps the greatest threat. For that reason, the history of Congress’s work on a BBA is full of frustrations, high-profile defections, reversals, and betrayals."

Nevada GOPALIN License Plate Ruled ‘Vulgar’ - however, GOOBAMA was approved!

A Nevada man is suing the DMV after his request for a vanity plate reading “GOPALIN” was allegedly denied. The DMV reportedly denies personalized license plate requests expressing what it considers to be “contempt, ridicule or superiority of … political affiliation“ and deemed GOPALIN as either ”vulgar“ or ”inappropriate.” Meanwhile, James Linlor, the man suing, claims that when he later requested a “GO OBAMA” license plate the DMV happily obliged. The Douglas County resident reportedly filed his complaint July 15 in U.S. District Court in Nevada."

Glenn shreds Obama’s tax hike policy – Glenn Beck

The talks on raising the debt ceiling have stalled as President Obama continues to call for increased taxes on the wealthy – a policy the GOP has refused to agree to – in order to reduce the deficit.

“I have recommended that we don’t play around with the debt ceiling, but I think that’s exactly what is happening now. The debt ceiling is being played around, and I want you to think of this logically with me. And if I’m wrong, please explain how because I can’t find anybody that will show me how this is wrong,” Glenn said.

What games are being played? How about the President insisting that tax hikes are needed in order to start cutting the deficit."

Spend It Like Bush - Bush and Obama compared!

What if, over the next decade, the federal government spends as irresponsibly as President George W. Bush did?

Compare two things: the 2012-2021 federal budget as proposed by President Obama in February (and as scored by the Congressional Budget Office in April), and the actual average spending level from 2001 through 2008 as a fraction of Gross Domestic Product. We'll keep the CBO's predictions of revenues and GDP untouched so that only spending differences are compared."

If You Support Mitch McConnell, We Don’t Support You | RedState

I am instituting a new policy here at RedState. In the future, as we support candidates for the U.S. Senate in Republican Primaries, we will not support any candidate who goes on the record supporting Mitch McConnell as Senate Republican Leader.

That does not preclude them from voting for McConnell once they get there if there are no better options. But when looking to endorse candidates, those who express a willingness to support someone else first will certainly be given more attention.

Why?"

Now We See It All. Mitch McConnell’s Pontius Pilate Act Is Cover for Tax Increases | RedState

Well, well, well. As Monday’s news cycle gets into full gear, we’re starting to see exactly what Mitch McConnell, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi are cooking up for the American public — pretend spending cuts and very real tax increases.

It is like the GOP learned nothing from No Child Left Behind. In NCLB, the GOP let liberals like Teddy Kennedy write the legislation and when the legislation’s very foreseeable outcomes appeared, the GOP got the blame for the disaster the law wrought on the public school system."

What the Debt Limit Battle Is All About - HUMAN EVENTS

It's hard to keep up with all the arguments and proposals in the debt limit struggle. But what's at stake is fundamental.

The bedrock issue is whether we should have a larger and more expensive federal government. Over many years, federal spending has averaged about 20 percent of gross domestic product.

The Obama Democrats have raised that to 24 or 25 percent. And the president's budget projects that that percentage will stay the same or increase far into the future."

SEIU Intimidation Manual | Breaking news and opinion on The Blaze

What a country ey? Unions are just there for the "Little Guy".....Right....

According to Vincent Vernuccio in the Washington Times, it’s over 70 pages and details how “outside pressure can involve jeopardizing relationships between the employer and lenders, investors, stockholders, customers, clients, patients, tenants, politicians, or others on whom the employer depends for funds.”"

Brief for Monday, July 18, 2011 - PatriotPost.US

'The country is on a high-speed bullet train to bankruptcy (the only kind of bullets liberals approve of), and the Democrats' motto is: Spend! Spend! Spend! Democrats are at an advantage in the 'should the U.S. go bankrupt or not?' debate because, based on their economic policies so far, they obviously favor bankruptcy."

ObamaCare Forcing Americans Out of Their Health Plans - HUMAN EVENTS

Health care rationing could be the end result of ObamaCare, as smaller insurers are forced out of the market and as employers race for the exits amid rising costs stemming from the law.

“A lot of people are saying it’s cheaper to pay the penalty for not offering health insurance and to force their employees to go find their health insurance in the marketplace,” said Tennessee GOP Sen. Lamar Alexander. “The insurance in the marketplace is going to be more expensive than the insurance they have from their employer now because of the requirements of the ObamaCare law."

The Expanding Catalogue of Obamacare Fables - HUMAN EVENTS

Is there a health insurance horror story disseminated by the White House and its allies that ever turned out to be true? Obamacare advocates have exercised more artistic license than a convention of Photoshoppers. Now, a prominent sob story shilled by President Obama himself about his own mother is in doubt. It's high past time to call their bluffs."

Obama Eyes Medicare Part D

Another reason the prescription drug program gets under Obama’s thin skin is that it was George W. Bush’s idea and was enacted in 2003 under the Bush administration. It is so irritating to lefties because it “is providing unprecedented access and cost savings on medicines to over 29 million Medicare beneficiaries,” according to a July 2011 analysis by the Battelle Memorial Institute. Battelle is the largest international research and development organization. It is based in Cincinnati."

No Transparency on Debt Ceiling Debate

For concerned Americans, one of the more infuriating aspects of the current debt ceiling negotiations is the fact that they are filtered through the media lens prior to being made public. Considering the overall slant of the mainstream media, it thus becomes possible to portray Republicans, far more than Democrats, as the intransigent party to these negotiations. Are they? There is certainly an easy way to find out. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has proposed an obvious solution. ”We might as well stake it out publicly to see what the disagreements are,” said Sessions in an interview with The Hill on June 24th. Mr. Sessions is absolutely right. It’s time to broadcast the debt ceiling talks on C-SPAN and allow the public to see what’s really going on."

A Jew Thanks Glenn Beck

Let me say this: I stand with Glenn Beck, and against these Jews.

Glenn Beck is a friend of Israel. He is a friend of the Jewish people. And anyone who argues otherwise is either lying or ignorant."

Is Rudy Running?

My thinking is that I still have time to decide. So I’m going to take it…the race is developing very slowly, compared to, maybe not necessarily historical races, but compared to 2007, which is what I’m used to,” Giuliani said. “My focus when I sit down to decide will be, do I think any of the people running, or a few of them, have a good chance of beating President Obama or not?”"

Who Owns the Deficit?

Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are like the three little monkeys who pretend to see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil. Democrats have largely controlled Washington since 2006, when they took control of Congress, but they have sat there as the national debt has risen from $10 trillion, as it was near the end of the Bush presidency, to $14.5 trillion, as it is today. They have doubled spending, quadrupled the deficit, and raised the national debt by 45%. Now they refuse to cut spending and accuse Republicans of causing the budget crisis with the GOP demand for lower spending."

President Demands 'Massive, Job-killing Tax Increases' and Dares Republicans to Call His Bluff

There are so many road blocks and job killing fees, taxes and regulations ALREADY in place, I can't even imagine what else could come our way. And this President and/or his Administration doesn't even seem to care?!

This was the kind of week where any self-respecting 2008 Obama supporter who had not yet yanked off his Obama-Biden Bumper sticker should have been in his garage scraping off that old Hope and Change.

It began on Monday when he insisted on a 'grand bargain' that would include , in his words, 'massive , job-killing tax increases.' It was the first honest explanation of his economic plan but surely it was no surprise that his opponents found it an unappealing course of action."

Secretary Sebelius Has No Idea What Premium Support Is-and She Should - Big Government

That is, if she wants to be critical of Paul Ryan’s plan. HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was quick to say that seniors would “die sooner” under the Ryan Medicare plan, but did she even read it and furthermore does she even understand it?

One would think that she would understand “premium support” as she’s a former insurance commissioner. Kaiser Health News reviews premium support and its history (emphasis mine):"

‘Harry Potter 8′ Review: Epic Finale

Yup - need a break away from the insanity of Washington! I saw Harry 7 at Midnight and had a BLAST! Kids dressed in wonderful-imaginative costumes, wand battles in hallways...One Eye Moody darn near knocking folks waiting for popcorn over as he tromped through the lobby. I'm in my fifties...and I had a much fun as the kids. Thank you JK for writing a novel series I could share with my nieces, nephew and Grand kids. I've watched our friends kids grow up watching opening nights together. Most were little when this started - most drove their own cars to the final opening....The movie was...in the words of Harry - Brilliant!

After seven books, eight movies, and millions of satisfied fans, the long battle between Harry Potter and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named has finally ended. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” is the last installment in the “Harry Potter” film series that has entertained readers and viewers alike for over a decade. Fortunately, this spectacular conclusion exceeds expectations and ends the story on a high note, fulfilling the promise of this magical world."

Rubio: ‘Where is the President’s Plan?’

“OK, so where’s the plan? Where’s the president’s plan? I’ve never seen a piece of paper with the president’s name on it that’s his plan to solve this crisis. I’ve seen press conferences. I’ve seen lectures that he’s given to the Congress. I’ve seen these press avails where the camera comes in and takes a bunch of pictures. I haven’t seen a plan. Where is the president’s plan?“"

GOP Debt Ceiling Ace in the Hole: Obama’s Birthday Bash | The Blog on Obama: White House Dossier

Oh boy, this is going to look bad.

The Republicans may not realize it, but they have an extra point of leverage in the debt ceiling talks: Barack Obama’s birthday.

It’s on Aug. 4. The president is turning 50. He’s decided to have a quiet celebration with family and a few close friends.

NOT."

Art? Taxpayer-Funded Exhibit Equates Republican Govs. With Nazism | Breaking news and opinion on The Blaze

How is it that that pesky "Civil Discourse" memo Obama sent out continues to elude these people????? makes ya wonder....

A new exhibit at a Michigan city art gallery features a provocative piece that depicts four Republican governors beneath the Nazi party symbol. Despite complaints, the work will remain on display.

Titled “The Faces of American Fascism,” the poster has pictures of Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Wis. Gov. Scott Walker, Mich. Gov. Rick Snyder and Fla. Gov. Rick Scott under the national insignia of Nazi Germany. The symbol of the Republican Party is encircled in the wreath under the eagle instead of a swastika."

Obama Should Withhold His Vacation Dollars

Instead of Obama bullying Social Security recipients who have already paid their dues, why doesn't he ask his wife to shut down her $4.5 billion Let's Move program? How about scrapping the $350 million that goes annually to Planned Parenthood? In response to nationwide cheating scandals, Education Secretary Arne Duncan should hand over that $4.3 billion Race to the Top fund."

South Korean Ingratitude - Dennis Prager - National

Well written opinion on South Korea and it's flagrant ingratitude to all the USA has done for it.
I like his theory. if they vote us out - so be it, but we ain't coming back if the North invades....who ya gonna call then? Ghostbusters?
Seriously, my brother was stationed there and saw the student demonstrations. He said many of the older Koreans who "knew" were embarrassed by them. But as the older survivors with their memory's die off, as with the memories of the horrors of WWII.....history is perhaps doomed to repeat itself.

South Korea has joined the only other two countries in the world that have dropped the name of the forthcoming film Captain America and replaced it with the subtitle, The First Avenger. The other two countries are Russia and Ukraine. According to the New York Times, “Although that country [South Korea] is one of Hollywood’s top-performing territories, resentment about the continued presence of the United States military runs deep.”"

The Presidency Matters - Jonah Goldberg - National Review Online

In 1994, the Republicans took back the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years. The significance of that victory is hard for some younger people to appreciate, because we now seem to go through political leaders the way Lady Gaga goes through wardrobe changes. In the old days, it was a given that the House was the Democratic party’s fiefdom, which is why the Gingrich Revolution was such a tectonic shock. By the spring of 1995, Americans were talking as if we had suddenly adopted a parliamentary system with House speaker Newt Gingrich as the prime minister. Really."

Are the Rich Undertaxed? - Michael G. Franc - National Review Online

In Ayn Rand's Epic "Atlas Shrugged"...some of the Bills, Laws and Resolutions had, what I thought, we slightly insane names. I believed they were there as a marker to the stupidity and far reaching of the Government. Now Reid proposes the "Sense of the Senate on Shared Sacrifice"....good lord...me thinks she was on to something!

To highlight the GOP’s intransigence, Reid offered a non-binding resolution. Dubbed the “Sense of the Senate on Shared Sacrifice,” it calls on “those earning $1,000,000 or more per year [to] make a more meaningful contribution to the deficit reduction effort.”

The Hill nailed the real reason Senator Reid interrupted all serious Senate business to debate this meaningless rhetorical exercise in class warfare. “The vote,” the newspaper reported, “will likely be used by Democrats as a way to show Republican resistance to new tax hikes.”"

One President Left Behind: McConnell Schools Obama on Debt - HUMAN EVENTS

Exploiting the 9/11 Tenth Anniversary | FrontPage Magazine

As the tenth anniversary of 9/11 approaches, the Islamists and their supporters are busy preparing a disinformation campaign to whitewash Sharia law and Islamic ideology under the banner of an operation they call “Prepare New York.” The intent is to use a front of “interfaith” alliances with progressive groups to marginalize those who are trying to expose the truth about the Islamist agenda and to exploit the 9/11 anniversary for propaganda purposes."

Bernanke: Fed May Launch New Round of Stimulus - CNBC

Is this how we "Eat our peas"....?

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told Congress Wednesday that a new stimulus program is in the works that will entail additional asset purchases, the clearest indication yet that the central bank is contemplating another round of monetary easing."

Can the Tea Party Save the Light Bulb? | FrontPage Magazine

Amen....and the GOP couldn't even save this............

“Save the light bulb” seems an unlikely war cry, but the fate of the old-fashioned, incandescent light bulb has become an issue that Tea Partiers, conservatives and a host of other Americans are rallying around. However, Tuesday the House thwarted an initial attempt to move forward with Representative Joe Barton’s (R-TX) Better Use of Light Bulbs Act today, which would allow the free market to decide which light bulbs are best rather than the United States government."

Bill Maher & GWB - like a Child Molester...I kid you not....

Someone want to send this Moron that pesky notice about civil discourse? Oh, never mind...talk about a waste of time.......

"You know I love him,” Maher said. “You know you can’t not. I mean coming in after Bush, first of all, you have him there, you have a guy you can relate to. He’s intelligent, he can speak English. I don’t think about George Bush at all anymore, which is great. He’s like an uncle who molested me and I blocked it out. You know? And you could just tell, you know, you’d like to have dinner with Obama. He’s an erudite guy, he’s a constitutional law professor.”"

Will Keith and his "Old People eating dog food" drivel ever go away?!

Can you possibly be this vacuous Keith....( I know, rhetorical question...) In order to do these things...we NEED a strong economy. This isn't a nation of those un-able. We've always been the nation that pulled itself up by the bootstraps. AND, in doing so - pulled many others up with them. This is such utter nonsense. Nobody wants anyone to suffer. But this is such drivel it almost doesn't deserve space!

Any true greatness of this nation originates entirely in whatever spark of humanity and selflessness we devote to taking care of the least of us,” Olbermann continued. “Any claim we have to lead, to encourage, to inspire other nations starts with whether we continue to move forward each year, each day, each minute towards a time when we have no hunger in this country, when we have no poverty in this country and we have no old people eating dog food in this country, when we have no patient in this country deciding between meals and medicines.”"

Mitch McConnell & Debt Limit Plan (?!) Conservative Backlash

We MUST keep the pressure up AGAINST this idea....

Debt limit negotiations took a surprising turn Tuesday, when Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell offered a backup plan that essentially gives President Barack Obama the authority to unilaterally raise the debt limit.

The move prompted a swift and furious backlash from conservative groups, politicians and commentators."

Prosecute Bush | Torture | War Crimes |

Today's Hypocrisy Howler.....talk about a pot calling the kettle black......

Human Rights Watch is pressuring President Barack Obama to investigate and criminally prosecute former President George W. Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney.

The group says there is “overwhelming evidence” that the Bush administration ordered the torture and abuse of various detainees. Its allegations are contained in a 107-page report."

Newt Gingrich - Stop Killing Jobs Now!

Last week's unemployment numbers are devastating. They are far worse than what economists had been projecting.

A net of just 18,000 jobs were created in June. That is one new job for every 1,000 unemployed Americans.
The government's report also revised its estimate of new jobs created in May by more than 50 percent, from 54,000 down to only 25,000."

Another Bad Idea - Jim Demint

I flipped when I saw the GOP "proposal" on the Debt Ceiling"? Was everything prior to this a joke? A Play.....a sitcom episode to lull us to sleep so we wouldn't notice they'd CAVED? It needs to be stopped. I don't know about you - but I've given my "Fair Share". I've almost lost our Company to the recession. Even though we lost our shirts last year - we still had to pony up $5000.00 in taxes to the government...yet GE pays nothing on BILLIONS. I've had our house go into foreclosure and hidden from tow trucks when they came to repossess our cars...I think we've done all we can.
I have one word for the GOP Plan - SCREW!

Under the plan, the President would simply notify Congress when he wanted to raise the debt limit and it would automatically go up. In order to stop an automatic increase, Congress would have to pass a resolution of disapproval, which would of course be vetoed by the President. Then, Congress would have override the veto with two-thirds support in the House and Senate.

Given that the President could always count of the support of at least one-third of the members in both houses, this new plan would effectively give the President the power to increase our nation's debt at will."

Cut the Damn Spending!

Long read but right on....CUT THE DAMN SPENDING! What part of STOP don't they understand???

It's time to cut the damn spending! This means taking a commonsense approach to America's priorities and eliminating outdated programs that have long past served their original purposes and exist only out of habit and to protect their bureaucracies."

MediaMatters Takes another Shot at Stirring Up Anti-Truth Outrage

It really is a shame when a media watchdog has a twisted nose that mistakes putrescence for floral aroma -- and vice versa. In a piece published Monday, self-proclaimed media watcher MediaMatters (MM) criticizes Fox News for running the supposedly 'misleading headline': 'Cambridge, MA set to Pay Gay Employees More Than Straight.' MediaMatters takes issue with Fox because the headline doesn't explain that the reason for the measure is to compensate homosexuals for a tax that married couples don't have to pay."

Blog: Lightbulb bill probably going down to defeat in House

So surprising...we expect the GOP to stand up to Obama and the Debt Ceiling vote when they can't even stand up for a light bulb...???.....please.......

During Monday's debate on the lightbulb bill, Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) and other Republicans said federal standards will have the effect of banning incandescent bulbs next year, since they will be unable to meet energy standards that take effect then. Barton said this is a problem because compact fluorescent bulbs and others than can meet the standards are several times more expensive."

Big Labor’s Compulsory Politics = $1.1 Billion in 2010 Election Cycle - Big Government

Glenn’s latest toy? An actual Jihadist rocket – Glenn Beck

Hehe...there's a TSA heart attack waiting to happen!

After an eventful journey to East Jerusalem last night, Glenn chose to visit Gaza this morning. Though it might not have been the safest trip for a pro-Israel American media personality, it proved to be an incredible experience that also resulted in a special gift, as Glenn described on radio.

“I got up bright and early [this morning] and nobody surprisingly wanted to go with me to Gaza,” Glenn said. “So we go to Gaza, and it was nice. It was beautiful, especially this time of year.”

The small town Glenn visited has had about 8,000 rockets hit it in the past few years, and Glenn was gifted one to take with him.

GLENN: I was given a rocket. It was nice. Not everybody gets a rocket.

PAT: So you got a Kasam rocket that was shot yesterday.

GLENN: Yesterday. Yeah, it landed yesterday."

Feds Redirect Billions Intended for Small Businesses to Corporate Cronies | Breaking news and opinion on The Blaze

Money intended for Small Business goes to Cronies....Noooooooooooooooooooo, not on Mr. Transparency's watch!?

Not only is this a blatant disregard for the well-being of the U.S. economy, but it is also in direct violation of the congressionally mandated goal of awarding 23 percent of the total value of all contract dollars to small businesses. Because of the diversion of billions of dollars in small business contracts to large firms, the Small Business League estimates that legitimate small businesses actually received about five percent of federal contract dollars."

Watch Out Parents: The State May Want to Take Away Your Obese Kids | Breaking news and opinion on The Blaze

Just the words " government should be allowed to intervene in extreme cases" should give you a chill. I think this falls under the "Slippery Slope" file!

It Is Time To Burn Mitch McConnell In Effigy. He Goes Pontius Pilate On the Debt Ceiling. | RedState

I just KNEW they would cave!

Mitch McConnell is right now talking about making a historic capitulation. So fearful of being blamed for a default, McConnell is proposing a compromise that lets Barack Obama raise the debt ceiling without making any spending cuts at all."

Lessons from the Economic Wreck-covery | FrontPage Magazine

On Friday, more “unexpected” news came out regarding the economy. Or perhaps a more accurate description would be unexpected for those who have hitched their economic wagons to the Obama administration’s Keynesian economic star. For Americans astute enough to see the tremendous wishful thinking behind the claims of “green shoots” of recovery, “Recovery Summer,” or the president’s April pronouncement that we are “turning a corner,” the so-called economic recovery has been little more than a media-abetted myth. Are there lessons to be learned? Two come immediately to mind. One, free-market capitalism can only be distorted for so long. Two, human nature is fundamentally misunderstood by progressive ideologues."

The West Courts the Muslim Brotherhood--and Its Own Destruction - Jihad Watch

The suicidal side of the Western elites’ pervasive tendency toward fantasy-based policy making was on full display last week when the U.S. and the European Union both announced that they were opening formal contacts with the Muslim Brotherhood, a group dedicated, in its own words, to “eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within, and sabotaging its miserable house.”"

Omaha Schools Spend $130,000 in Stimulus Money to Buy 8,000 ‘Social Justice’ Diversity Manuals | Breaking news and opinion on The Blaze

If I told you that your tax dollars (130,000 of them) went to buying a “diversity” manual that asserts the government and other institutions create advantages that “channel wealth and power to white people” and calls on educators to “take action for social justice,” what would you do? And if I told you that such a manual was required staff reading in Omaha, NE schools, what would you say?"

Obama Executive Orders Impose New Gun Rules | Breaking news and opinion on The Blaze

In addition to a total lack of anything to offer in the "Arena of Ideas" with regard to fixing this Nation....he "executive orders" in controversial laws instead of allowing Congress and public debate to take place. When did we crown a King??? Cause' it's looking more and more like a Monarchy!

The Executive Orders come are coming in the middle of the “Fast and Furious” scandal currently plaguing the administration. Already, there is talk on Capitol Hill of a cover-up at the highest levels of government, and it appears to some that the administration was feeding the lethal problem of firearms trafficking it ostensibly intended to address with “Fast and Furious.”

The question remains- if these Executive Orders are ‘common sense’ measures as the administration claims, why not let Congress enact them as laws? And if they are minor tweaks to existing law as others claim, are they necessary at all?"

California's Book Ban - HUMAN EVENTS

What did I say just about an hour ago? That any form of book "banning" is a very slippery slope....and it's just starting to get steeper! Is THIS what the Framer's had in mind? I think not....

The legislation, awaiting the signature of Governor Jerry Brown, decrees that localities in America’s most populous state “shall not adopt any textbooks or other instructional materials for use in the public schools that contain any matter reflecting adversely upon persons on the basis of…sexual orientation.” The legislation further enjoins school boards to adopt materials that discuss the “role and contributions” of “lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans.”"

Fannie and Freddie Didn't Cause Mortgage Collapse - It Was Bush and Wall Street | NewsBusters.org

Here is the daily "It's All GWB's fault" rap......

The 'Wall Street' character Gordon Gecko famously said, 'A fool and his money are lucky to get together in the first place.'

I'd love to know what he'd say about this nincompoop.

To claim that Fannie and Freddie weren't leaders in expanding the mortgage market that led to the housing bubble and the eventual near collapse of the entire financial services industry is addle-minded even for Eleanor."

Debt Ceiling: Worst-Case Scenario

As I understand it, if the debt ceiling is not raised, the federal government cannot borrow any more money. That should mean it can only spend only what it raises in revenue. But what would that mean? Would the federal government have to default (stop making interest payments on its existing debt)? Would Social Security checks have to be cut? How big are the cuts we are talking about?"

Chicagoans Overwhelmingly Vote to Ban Palin, Beck & Coulter Books at Book Fair in Obama’s Home Town | rebelpundit

Book Banning...in a Chicago Book Fair. That's what I love about that town. When you haven't got an original thought...or any intellectual ammunition to bring into the arena of ideas....BAN the other side's opinion. Third World Dictator's rejoice! That's the ticket! This is a very, very slippery slope folks. This isn't the only place this is happening.

In June we attended the Printer’s Row Literature Festival in Chicago. City blocks were closed off for tents and booths full of all types of literature. We presented a board with a selection of well known book covers and asked visitors of the event if they could choose to ban any of the books on the board, which if any, they would in fact ban. They were allowed to choose any three of the eleven choices."

Michelle Obama's 1,556-Calorie Lunch Raises Eyebrows

I could care less what the First Lady eats....and in turn I want her OUT OF MY KITCHEN! This is this AM's Hypocrisy Howler!

First Lady Michelle Obama may have temporarily forgotten the lessons of her own anti-obesity campaign when she indulged in a sinfully caloric lunch Monday at a popular new hamburger restaurant.

A Washington Post reporter said the first lady ordered a cheeseburger, french fries, chocolate shake and Diet Coke at Shake Shack -- a trendy hamburger spot that recently opened an outpost in Washington's Dupont Circle."

The Elmendorf Rule - The Washington Post

This is an excellent article by Charles. I don't always agree with him - however...he lays out the Land Mine's the Obama Administration minions are scrambling about to bury in the GOP's path....very well laid out.....and very un-nerving.
I've seen too many times in the past when the Republican's fall head first over the cliff in set-ups like this. Perhaps John Boehner is different. We are about to see. However this is well worth reading - printing...and thinking about both on a national level and local!

Here we go again. An approaching crisis. A looming deadline. Nervous markets. And then, from the miasma of gridlock, rises our president, calling upon those unruly congressional children to quit squabbling, stop kicking the can down the road and get serious about debt."

Obama wants to make Boehner an offer he can't accept | Philip Klein | Beltway Confidential | Washington Examiner

In his just-completed news conference, President Obama continued to push for a a long-term deal to reduce the debt, but it's hard to take his new found desire to tackle our long-term fiscal challenges as being sincere. As much as he talked in the abstract about his willingness to make tough choices that put him at odds with his own party, Obama refused to get into actual specifics about what types of cuts to entitlement spending he would actually accept."

Democrats Urge Justice Department to Investigate... Democrats? | The Weekly Standard

I get asked for some form of identification on a daily basis - usually several times a day. I don't mind at all. If I needed some form of ID to vote....I'd RUN to get it since this right was given to me by the blood of others....thus I owe their memory that at the very least. The ONLY reason the democrats insist this is voter "disenfranchisement" is because it goes a LONG way to eliminating voter fraud. And maybe electing the person the voters actually VOTED FOR! You know - the legal voters.....

As the number of states passing voter ID laws is increasing, Democrats are up in arms about disenfranchisement of voters. Despite this, there are good reasons to believe that fraud might be widespread and producing identification hardly seems like a difficult barrier.

Nonetheless, a group of Democratic Senators recently sent a letter to the Justice Department asking them to scrutinize the states that have recently passed voter ID laws:"

Washington Post Blames the NRA for ATF Gun Running Scandal? | The Weekly Standard

I don't know what it is about gun issues that makes people lose their minds, but this editorial from the Washington Post is pretty incredible. The post acknowledges that the ATF flooding Mexico with 2,500 weapons which were used in a variety of crimes -- including the murder of a U.S. border agent -- was pretty questionable, but the real culprits are the NRA who has dared to criticize the agency or something:"

SPIN METER: Obama, Dems skirt issue on tax hikes - Boston.com

Call it eliminating an unfair break, or removing an unjust loophole, or even 'taking a balanced approach.' Just don't call it raising taxes."

Obama vs. Obama | The Weekly Standard

Obama agreed with Ferguson’s premise – raising taxes in a recession is a bad idea. “First of all, he’s right. Normally, you don’t raise taxes in a recession, which is why we haven’t and why we’ve instead cut taxes. So I guess what I’d say to Scott is – his economics are right. You don’t raise taxes in a recession. We haven’t raised taxes in a recession.”"

Operation Fast and Furious - And media silence...

GOP House to Vote on Stopping the Bulb-Smashers

Amen.....maybe now I can stop hording flippin' light bulbs.....

People are watching. People are PASSIONATE about this issue. There are people who will literally stay home from elections, rather than voting for Republicans, if Congress is too feckless to act on it. What people in the Beltway STILL don't understand is that what drives so much of the anger in the hinterlands isn't the huge things Washington does wrong, but the endless accumulation of 'little things' that mess with our lives and annoy the living $&^%#&*^$*^#$* out of us."

Media Matters Declared War, Let’s Give Them One - Big Journalism

Do you think a war on Fox is where it will end? Let’s say that Media Matters succeeds and Fox News goes off the air (that won’t happen – ever – but just for argument’s sake, stay with me). Will Media Matters just pack up and go home? Is Fox News the only outlet that Media Matters covers? Certainly not. They cover Rush Limbaugh incessantly as well as make numerous posts about what happens on Big sites (like this one) and cover a whole array of other conservative outlets. The “war on Fox” is not the end, it’s the beginning."

Bringing ‘American Exceptionalism’ to Life - Big Government

So I went to the Wikipedia page to find out the “definition” of the word. The information on this page was stunning. Most of the page was spent refuting anything worth a damn. It argued against American Exceptionalism, taking every chance possible to marginalize and debunk this belief in America. It was stunning … literally."

Libs Outraged Over Paul Ryan’s $350 Bottle of Wine, Silent When Nancy Pelosi Drowned $101,000 of Booze On “Pelosi One” - Big Journalism

Hypocrisy Howler #2......excellent point!

Of course, these same hypocrites were silent when it was discovered that Speaker Pelosi’s military travel expenses on Pelosi One cost taxpayers $2,100,744.59 over a two-year period — $101,429.14 for in-flight expenses, including food and alcohol."

Forget the ‘Fairness’ Doctrine – Net Neutrality is the Future of Censorship - Big Government

IMPORTANT read! This is what causes me sleepless nights these days....the disquiet grows.....

Which is a quintessentially disingenuous statement. The Executive Branch panoply of departments, agencies and commissions was during that time frame in overdrive to execute as many power grabs via regulatory fiat as possible.

To briefly discuss but a few….

The Democrat Congress couldn’t pass the energy sector-killing Cap & Trade? No problem, President Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) just began to implement it as if it did.

The Democrat Congress couldn’t pass the union-payoff, anti-free choice Employee Free Choice Act? No problem, President Obama’s National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) just began to implement it as if it did."

Patriotic Stirrings in the Real America

Excellent summary of the dilemma facing all of us. Be strong! Never forget.

These are dangerous actions by the president and his minions. These Obamite pursuits are the actions of people who would feel more out of place at a Point Clear Independence Day parade than the Connecticut Yankee felt in King Arthur’s court. Does anybody doubt that Van Jones would sneer at the tri-colored bunting? Does anybody doubt that White House Science Czar John Holdren would look askance at the propagation of so many carbon-emitting children? Does anybody really think that Obama himself feels real joy at hearing a 13-year-old recite the Declaration’s words about rights endowed by a Creator?"

Paul Ryan Faces Criticism for Pricey $350 Wine Purchase | Breaking news and opinion on The Blaze

Funny....John Kerry - a Multi Millionaire Gigolo doesn't pay his yacht taxes etc......and the press yawns. Paul Ryan pays for wine...thought pricey...and gets assaulted.

After ending their meal and paying the check, Feinberg decided to give Ryan a piece of her mind. She approached the table and asked Ryan ‘how he could live with himself’ sipping expensive wine while advocating for cuts to programs for seniors and the poor. Some verbal jousting between Feinberg and the other two men ensued. One of the two men said he had ordered the wine, was drinking it and paying for it. In hearing how much the wine cost, Ryan said only: ‘Is that how much it was?’"

Budget Lies and Distortions - Page 1 - Bruce Bialosky - Townhall Conservative

It’s amazing how often an absurd idea becomes an article of faith among Democrats, who then – with the help of their puppets in the media – repeat it over and over again. Not too long ago, seemingly intelligent adults believed that playing dodge ball at elementary school was the causing undo harm to the psyche of American youth. Today’s nightmare – and if you believe our President, the reason for the budget imbalance – is corporate jets. Obama has become so fixated on the subject that he mentioned it six times – yes, six times! – in one press conference."

Flashback: MSNBC Hosts Called Bush a Murderous Fascist, Never Faced Suspensions

This mornings Hypocrisy Howler....

On MSNBC you can call a sitting president a 'murderous' 'fascist' even muse about putting the President on trial for war crimes, so long as that president is a Republican. But if you dare call a Democratic president a 'd–ck,' as MSNBC analyst Mark Halperin did on Thursday's Morning Joe it's grounds for indefinite suspension."

Administration to propose steps on gun safety - USATODAY.com

Here they come again. It's not the gun that kills people.....and it is already damn hard to get gun permits etc. Leave it to the local officials...they know their towns best.....these guys aren't doing this for public safety...they are looking for control -period....DOT.

Spokesman Jay Carney said that the new steps would be made public 'in the near future.' He didn't offer details, but people involved in talks at the Justice Department to craft the new measures said they expected to see something in the next several weeks. Whatever is proposed is not expected to involve legislation or take on major issues like banning assault weapons but could include executive action to strengthen the background check system or other steps."

Clothing For State Workers Costs Taxpayers $44M - Boston News Story - WCVB Boston

No Statewide oversight...shocking! Yeah....right.....

An analysis of state records show in the last four years Massachusetts has spent $43,968,295.99 on clothing. The majority of those purchases are tied to longstanding union contracts, while many others are not. In this fiscal crisis, each agency is able to spend what it wants and Team 5 found there is no statewide system of oversight."

No recession for Obama's 454 White House aides: They'll make $37,121,463 this year - latimes.com

In his numerous fund-raising and policy speeches around the country these days, President Obama often bemoans the difficult economic times and uncertainties afflicting millions of Americans, including the nearly 14 million still seeking work unsuccessfully.

The Democrat argues that his administration needs more time to straighten out the economic mess left by somebody else, who's been gone almost 900 days now.

But good news this morning: The challenging Obama era and 9.1% national unemployment rate do not include the 454 people now helping President Obama do presidential things."
